Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Bought the Move bundle and an extra controller today kinda on a whim, after reading all of the posts here. LOVE IT!!! I'm still waiting on that killer app for me (a cool sword wielding game, like Zelda or maybe Oblivion, or a Soul Calibur like game), so i'm really hoping third parties begin to back this thing with major titles; Sorcery looks interesting and of course i'm getting KillZone 3 and LittleBigPlanet 2, but i'm very curious as to what the future holds for this device, it has loads of potential, hope it does well.

I hope Sony's next console (PS4) comes with a PSMove controller as well as Dualshock of course. This way the controller will get the support it really needs.

I'm sorry, but this is absolutely ridiculous. Why in the world would they make the spin work like this? I'm positive the Move can do it just as well (and better) than the Wii made bowling work. I'd just like to hear an explanation from the developers.

I thought it was obvious .from the video, the angle of the rotation is dropped in for the pressing of the DS3.

For example 0-180 degrees = 0-100% trigger depression

They picked an easy implementation, it has nothing to do with what the Move is capable of.

They really need to find a way to integrate the two for the PS4 so they don't have so many different controller options, and so the Move stuff will be seen as standard controller features instead of a separate set of functions on a separate controller. Though it might be a little late for that now since the Move already has a different button layout. If they used its layout, then they couldn't be backwards compatible with older games, but if they used the standard diamond, they couldn't be backwards compatible with PS3 Move games.

I think they should've gone with something like this for the button layout if they really insisted on aping the Wii's big button thing:

My obsession is Gladiator Duel, you wanna know why because I can unleash hell like no other. I have a problem with others, I really do because they play it like a video game. What do I mean the constant offensive attack, the non-stop swinging and the inevitable of blaming the game or saying its not tracking me 1:1.

Clue #1 in a fight their is a chance you may get hit when you open yourself up to be exploited. Its like a boxer who trains and never worries about the counter punch. I have found myself in those awkward moments with Gladiator Duel swing, swing, swing, and swing and it looks awkward and lag looking. Then I realized it wasn't lag it was me, I just got hit and you wanna know what because I didn't feel it I proceeded accordingly.

You must rely on your eyes and not swing blindly and then blame the game. Mount your offensive in short burst relying on your eyes to dictate your next move. If you are in constant swing mode then you've already lost.

Just picture yourself in a weapons heavy fight, what do you do?

1. you become methodical learning your opponent
2. looking for attack angles
3. controlled aggression
4. eyes on the prize, look at your opponent learn his idiosyncrasy
5. Just like in real life their are patterns to fighters i.e. jab, jab, cross ect...
6. DECEPTION!!! set up your shots,, you as a human have a pattern as well its your rhythm, you comfortable in your attacks, and you settle on what works.

Thanks for reading.

Do you guys remember the survival horror looking game they showed for like 5 seconds in the first move announcement video they showed at e3. Did they ever announce what that game is?

Spent the last two hours with Heavy Rain: Move Edition. I have to say that it's my favourite implementation of the Move controller so far. It really improves the experience over the traditional DS3 - after just a few minutes of use, everything feels natural to the point that you can guess what the next motion is going to be.

Also bought Flight Control HD as i've been in love with the Android version for the last week. I love the game (especially the underused music) and the Move works great, but once again its failings as a pointing device are shining through. It's not really necessary anyway, but it's pretty much confirmed now.

Thanks TTP, you just sold me a HVB disc. I was leary since all the previous reports of wonky spin control didn't seem to understand why it wasn't working as expected.
Your explanation makes perfect sense and so long as you understand the mechanics, you can be consistent in game play.

I'd still love to see a similar review for Brunswick bowling just for comparison sake since I'm hearing better Move integration is present there.

Seems contradictory.

Indeed, I personally believe it's closer to 10% that have as severe as issues as I have. But to me, this is just an unacceptable number. With traditional controllers, it works 100% of the time, with Move, there's a big statistically significant number of people who have a big fuss getting it just right. Those people might still think the headache was worth it, however, but that's not my point.

I believe it's probably a bit higher the number of people who might have to do some quick fiddling before finding the "ideal" settings (like AndyD, for example, who mentioned he had to do some fiddling for EyePet, or that other guy who suggested he had to roll up his rug).
Yeah, Eyepet is a textbook example of game where you need to do some fiddling no matter what. The game is by design asking you to point the camera all the way towards the floor, where all the other games are supposed to be pointing higher, towards you. That sort of thing and the need for every game to calibrate is something that will probably need to be overcome if some kind of Move successor is to be included with PS4 as a main controller.

I already see games trying to overcome this though. Heavy Rain tries to calibrate during its bootup sequence without you doing anything, as long as move sphere is in the view.

I've bought the move today and played about 3 hours of it so far. Sports Championships is awesome, the move itself is very accurate and responsive as demonstrated by table tennis. Aside from SC there's really nothing else that I find compelling. I like playing golf with motion controls but tiger woods is horrible at implementing them. I can't get the desired power or direction, ever. Anyone have better luck with the game?

All games that require the NavCon can use the DS3 or Sixaxis as the wand instead.
I never thought about that. Good to know. I was planning to hold off on getting a Nav for as long as possible. Need to get another Move first. Thanks for the info.

I've put in a fair number of hours with RE5 now with Move and I can say it works pretty flawlessly. My issues I had when I first tried the demo of RE5 with the DS3 made me ignore the game for a long time. Using the Move controller, while at first is somewhat difficult, flows really well once you get a handle on it.

It also works in split screen if anyone was wondering.

First I've read that it works via split screen. nice.

hey, you used a sniper/rocket launcher yet? I want to know what you think of the implementattion (or lack there of) of Move controls.

Newsflash: motion controls can work without pointing at the screen.

Thanks for the Newsflash, bro.

Maybe you can expand on your statement, because Flight Control HD uses pointer controls.

I guess its as good a place as any to ask these. I have two questions guys, I hope people dont mind me asking these here.

1. I was searching for HD monitors for my yet to be bought PS3 and move, and while some monitors have input as HDMI, some have HDMI 1.3. I am pretty sure that HDMI 1.3 will work flawlessly with PS3, but what about those which only list HDMI as their feature? Is HDMI 1.3 must have requirement for PS3. Any other details about the monitor in this regard that I should know of?

2. Can we download PS3 demos on USB drives on PC and then transfer them on PS3s?

Thanks.

1. if it's got HDMI, it'll work.

2. No, you can only download demos via the PSN Store on the PS3.

Yeah, I know...I'm just disappointed with it. When the original Wii controller can do it perfectly with a natural movement and this doesn't it's irritating. I had high hopes for HVB with Move.

Finally got my Move and my impressions, coming from a Wii, is that while it's a lot more accurate, it just feels like a step up above the Motion +. So far, the Sports Champions game has been the best title I've played. (Sure miss bowling, though :*(... ) .

I tried Heavy Rain, liked it, worked well, but still, nothing really exciting. Tumble was ok. Not my style of game at all so that could have been my problem. EyePet was ok. Nothing I'd want but my wife is begging for it now. Didn't try R.U.S.E. yet.

Any titles that really make the controller feel like the revolution I think it has the potential to be? I'd be 100% satisfied if Demon's Souls was Move patched. :lol Maybe the sequel?

Nice vid as always TTP (especially the big lebowski cut scene). I think I'll sit tight on a bowling game for now. HVB 2 built from the ground up with move in mind would be interesting though.

It's been 3 years hasn't it, what the fuck are they working on?

Got myself a Move controller and Sports Champions. After reading Amirox´s horror story and seeing his video, I decided to let my kids (2 girls age 5 and 6), set it up and play (they setup Eyepet and play it, without my help).
Thankfully my kids had no problems with anything. They set up the camera, calibrated the move without my help. Worked flawlessly for them. They played Sports Champions for a couple of hours. They loved it. Then i started some demos for them. They game that was the biggest succes was "Start the Party". They love beeing part of the game. So I Guess I will have to buy it for them..

Tried Tumble and all the other demos when the kids went to sleep. Liked the feel of the controller and how well it worked. It´s not a big step up form the Wii, but I like the controller better. One thing I did noticed was that my kids had the "Wii Waggle SYndrome". Because in Sports Champions, they tried to emulate Wii Sports. It didn´t work for them. But they addapted fast, and learned how toplay with the move.

For me Move is a nice addition to My PS3. I will always prefer to play with a normal controller, motion control is for a good workout or for certain sport games. Maybe the future will show better games, but I can not see myself play Killzone 3 with this controller, No way.

2 girls. 5 + 6?

you don't say.

I'm thinking about getting Resident Evil: Gold Edition. Just a few questions:

1. Is my RE5 save file compatible (although my version of RE5 is Asian/Chinese) with Gold Edition?

2. Are there any new trophies? That is if they're added onto the old record or a whole new separate set of trophies?

3. Are there any calibration problems?

4. How are the controls? I didn't like the DS3 controls much.

Thanks!

1) No idea, sorry.

2) No, there's just the regular RE5 trophies and the DLC trophies

3) Only played it for a short while but I didn't have any.

4) Much like RE4 Wii if you've played that. The button layout takes a bit of getting used to, but aiming is so much easier than before (which was awful). It makes the game a lot better in my opinion. I always go for head shots now, whereas before I tried to go for the legs a lot. I'm using the navigation controller, haven't tried a dualshock+move but I would expect it to be a bit awkward with one hand.

1. I don't know for sure. I think they would have to be from the same region to have a compatible save file (if other imports are anything to go by). I previously owned an NA version of RE5, and picked up an NA RE5Gold, and it transferred my save data flawlessly.

2. There are no new trophies. Everything that was included with RE5 and all of it's DLC is here in the Gold Edition, however, if they are from different regions they will have different trophy slots. My old trophies are still there, and this shows up as "Resident Evil 5" just like before.

3. No.

4. I like the controls. Muscle memory kicks in after about 30 minutes and you'll be taking down the lot of 'em in no time.

Thanks Dizzy and MrPliskin, considering on buying this now (since it's $29.99). :D

Not sure about the Chinese version, but in N.A. the regular version's saves do indeed work with the Gold Edition.

The Asian version is actually the US version. Boot up the game and it will show you a ESRB logo, even the DLC from the US PSN store works.

The MAG beta is finished :(
No more move FPS action until they release the new retail patch. Hopefully it'll be during this week. I was really enjoying playing MAG with move. I had only 2 issues with it.
1. When you hit someone the little red X would appear in the middle of the screen as opposed to wherever you were pointing. It was just a bit disorienting.
2. The scoped sights were much too slow. They needed to be as fast as the iron sights.
Did anyone else in here try it? What did you think?

So I got this thing, is there any shoot games I can try with it that's available now?

51dvyybWqbL._SL500_.jpg

Also where's the R3 button on the move controller?

I went to Meadowhall (big shopping center in Sheffield), and in one of the GAME shops there they had a demo kiosk set up with sports champions on it. I watched people line up to give it a try, and they all seemed to have a pretty good time. They had 2 controllers, so people were going crazy, fighting each other in the sword one. I gave it a go when it had quieted down, and did the two controller mode. After some confusion with my sword and shield hand (i'm left handed, but I do everything right handed except writing), I gave it a go, and found it pretty fun! Drew quite a little crowd too, so I made a point to show the 1:1 wrist movements.

I had quite a bit of fun with it, can't wait till I actually have the cash to buy it! :lol

I only played two matches with it... lets just say it was disorienting. I really couldnt get comfortable but didnt play enough. How did you have your bounding boxes set up?

Did you play the latest patch? 1.04 was very different (better) than the previous versions. They say that they've improved them further for the retail patch. I actually just used one of the presets (standard). From the hip and iron sights were very responsive but scoped was poor.

Picked up the Sports bundle along with an extra controller yesterday. Local Best Buy had finally set up a demo unit and it sold on the Move within 5 minutes. Wife and I had a blast with Sports Champions, and we both liked Tumble and I had fun with the Shoot game demo.

So far I love it, and can't wait to get more Move-compatible games.
