Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Does EA Sports Active 2.0 for Move actually use the Move controller at all?

I'm tempted to pick up some sort of fitness program and while I enjoyed Active 1 for Wii, the wires killed the experience after a while.

This looks like a better package.

As far as I know, it doesn't.

Ah. Not a big deal I guess. I assume it's using the camera with the motion sensors to track your movement?

I'm stuck at work or I'd be reading up on this at ign or something.

Beat Sketcher Coming this month to PSN for PlayStation Move
So, what is Beat Sketcher? It is actually hard to call this a game, as it is more of an artistic experience that allows you to become very creative using the PlayStation Move as your virtual drawing tool or paint brush. Beat Sketcher lets you create your own masterpiece no matter what your skill level is. You can learn to draw by copying brush strokes in something called Challenge Mode or grab some friends and work together to create something magical (either cooperatively or competitively if you so choose). My favorite part is the Creation Mode, where you start with a blank canvas, so-to-speak, and unleash my imagination! If you create something you’re proud of, you can even upload it to YouTube for all your friends to see.

Really cool.

IIRC, a fair number of games that are PSN in the West have been retail releases in Japan. Maybe PSN uptake is relatively lower there or something, or perhaps they feel either the game or the platform benefits more from a retail presence in Japan compared to other territories.

I'm thinking similar. I used Active for Wii for a while but the wire between the 'motes bugged the hell out of me as it just doesn't stretch far enough in some cases. I think I'll wait for reviews to start springing up before I buy it though, want to be sure those EA motion sensors are up to par.

Although I'm disappointed they haven't updated the graphics much, the cheerful cartoony style is a real put-off for me. I was hoping that with the release of the 360 and PS3 versions we would see some more realistic graphics in action.

That makes sense, of course, but my thinking is why the hell was Kung Fu Rider a $40 retail game then? ;)

I like how he put some colors in a corner like a real palette so that he doesn't have to bring up the color selection menu. Clever.
Pretty genius.

Really glad Beat Sketcher is gonna be a PSN release, I probably wouldn't have picked it up otherwise, but definitely now.

That guy makes it look really fun. Can't believe Sony mentions Pokémon in their blog post.

Heads up for NZ GAFers, the Move controller is appearing back in stock around the country over the next few days. Personally, I can't wait, need to play some archery. :D

The key words here are makes it look. I had the demo... was bored to tears. It's like the kinect lineup to me... if I was 25 years younger I'd be totally into it. I'm sticking with sports champions and RE5 for now and looking forward to KZ3.

Wouldn't.

By this weekend my verdict on whether or not u should buy the fight is in...

It's looking like a not.

I don't think it uses the camera at all actually. I was under the impression that everything was in the armbands...

Anyone have Brunswick Pro Bowling.

I want to try an online game so I can finish this review up telling people not to buy this crap game :lol

Not even the camera by the looks of it - just a USB dongle for the motion tracking and heart rate monitor data and no "move compatible" stickers on the box. Did get a bit out of the 1st wii one so might pick this up, if only to get the gf to stop hassling me to do exercise ... any trophies for this?

I've read on Mel B's gamespot forum, folks like it more than the Sports Active one....

I still haven't seen many youtube user videos though to judge for myself.

1/3rd the price too... plus real bewbs higher replayability :D

guess what

I'm getting my Move tomorrow, pretty excited to be honest. I'll definitely get the Sports Champion bundle. I don't really know what else to get, though, aside from tumble. Are there any other titles that aren't party games? I'd like something that's fine to play with just one person. I'm not interested in revisiting Heavy Rain or Resident Evil 5, but I heard NBA2K has Move support - does it suck?

just gotta get my facts straight so I can get the most out of this thing

Just tried the John daly demo and was blown away by it. Accuracy is top notch. Now to get back to table tennis in sports champions. Couldn't get past Dallas in championship cup, have to beat this guy now.

Hating on Beat Sketcher is like.... hating on Paint. It's a fairly competent drawing program that happens to have a Challenge Mode layered on top of it (which sadly wasn't accessible during the demo).

Try the shoot or time crisis if you like lightgun games. There are demos of both on PSN. Other than that, your choices are limited. Some people seem to be liking the fight, but it definately looks like its not for everyone, and there is no demo up for it which is amazingly stupid.

Maybe RUSE if you're into that type of game.

If you have access to buying stuff on any of the Asian PSN stores, get Flight Control. It's a nice step up from touch control originals, and local-multiplayer support makes it even better.

Yeh this as well. It's on Euro PSN too. Although I would say its a step down from touch controls personally.

Personally I prefer not having stuff in the way of seeing playing field with this kind of game. If anything, the game becomes too easy with Move on some maps (single player anyway) - there are at least two where the only reason a game will end is becoming physically too tired to continue.
But controls aside, it gets a whole new dimension once you add multiplayer into the mix.

I hate on Beat Sketchers because I was excited when I found out about it on a list of Move games and wanted a cool music game, maybe something with tracing lines or like Elite Beat Agents but its more sketch than beat :/

Got my Move today! :D I can't wait to try it out but I had to go to work/charge the controller so it won't be until tonight. I have the Sports Champion bundle and Sly Collection mini games, but I'll probably get Tumble tonight. I already have Hustle Kings but it freezes no matter what on my PS3, hopefully I can get it to work by deleting/redownloading the patches.

one more question: How is the High Velocity Bowling Move support? I'd love a Move bowling game, but I remember hearing negative things about it. Does HVB or Sports Champions allow players to take turns with one controller like Wii Sports?

thanks and sorry for the dumb questions, but I'm several hours away from being able to find out myself

The Move implementation in HVB feels really rushed. Doesn't offer any added fun/depth compared to the SIXAXIS controls. You're better off playing bocce in Sports Champions for your ball flinging needs. It's really good.

snuggler get mag it's so good with the move controls

I'll check it out, I played in the beta and I felt lost but if it's not to brutal for a new comer, I'll try it for the Move controls. I wish KZ3 would hurry up and come out.

Bummer about the Bowling game, I'll just get Tumble for now.

I disagree its really fun to me, its doesn't feel rush at all.

It does have musical line-tracing and other challenges. :) And the free paint mode is essentially a music looper. It will be a fun challenge to draw within the confines of the beat.

You should look into it more ;) It's a LOT like Elite Beat Agents for one of the game modes.
