Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

mh,
http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/12/13/a-new-website-launches-on-ps3/

eu.playstation.com was revamped for the PS3 browser and according to the blog and the replies, you can use the Move as a (mouse) pointer. I'm not at home right now so I can't test it, would be really strange that the website need to support it instead of making it the default cursor control?!

edit: nvm, blog comments say Move controls aren't different on this new site, no idea why they mention it as a feature in the blog.

not Move related but also interesting:

(that's why this new website version is only available if your PS3 is set to 1080p/i)

next up will be the eu PS blog btw (including making the linked videos work on the PS3) and PSN community features.
how is that possible?
am i the only one who has early HDTVs with 720p (non 1080p)? i don't want to watch 1080i downscaled on my tv.

EDIT: though a couple will probably be replaced within a year because the bulbs are going.

Question about Move stuff...

I picked one up, and the only gave I've played with it is Auditorium HD.

My issue with it is that in order to move the cursor around my entire screen, I need to either stand up or fully extend my arms when sitting down: it's not like the Wii where I can sit and do everything with small wrist movements.

Does this have something to do with Auditorium HD's implementation of pointing, or is this expect? Is my setup wrong?

I've tried moving the camera to the bottom of my TV and got the same result.

I cannot get Eyepet to Calibrate properly. I'm about to pull my hair out. I have the EU move bundle disc. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

me too...I can never get that calibration step to work where you have to point and press MOVE on the floor... Most of the time I have to do it some where above in the air and then it would work.

Does Auditorium have sensitivity settings? Turning those up should help.

How far away are you from your tv?

It does, but that doesn't change how far I have to extend my arm... it just makes the cursor keep up with it better.

And I'm like 8-9 feet away from my 61" TV.

I could not do it when the controller was on my patterned rug, but once I tried it on the hardwood, no problems. I think what they are not making clear is that you can do it anywhere in view of the camera, not just where they tell you. So as long as its on the floor, try several spots.

Otherwise, move the eye so the angle to the floor is slightly different, that also made a huge diference in playability for us on that game.

Your problem is merely related to the same thing this kid is having problems with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grQeOXVRS7Q#t=2m35s

Point the camera downward at where your chest would be while seated, and turn the zoom lens on the camera to the red setting.

Sitting closer to the camera or moving the camera closer to you will also help to reduce the amount of physical movement required.

Playing Beat Sketcher and experimenting with the changes I mentioned will help you understand the geometry of it all.

There is an easier way. Auditorium HD has a sensitivity option, just set it to 9 or 10 ;)

Edit - Missed the follow up. Yeah, try rotating the lens to Normal. Albeit I think he should fiddle with the sensitivity more as it doesn't do what he says it does. But perhaps he is too far away for even the highest sensitivity to cope with.

I'm finally done with my The Shoot vid! God I need more time for this shit.

Anyway, here you go.

kGauL.jpg

I'm late to the party, I know, but here is an in-depth analysis of The Shoot, the first PlayStation Move exclusive on-rail shooter developed by Cohort Studios.

There is a lot of content to go through, so take a sit, grab some pop-corn, turn the lights off and...

Enjoy!

That's just one out of three Gameloft games compatible with Move. There is also a puzzle game and a dungeon crawler. All was announced a while ago.

this was news to me!

i'm looking forward to hearing more on these, particularly the FPS and ARPG. with these and DS Extraction, KZ3 and SOCOM early next year my move controllers are going to be worn out! :D

Damn! Really? I was going to treat myself this week with that game... Are there talks of patches to resolve those issues?

Just play it with the Dualshock instead. It's really good with that. Poor Move implementation shouldn't stop you from buying a very cool game though.

TTP said:
That's not true at all, it works wonderfully with the Move. It's actually much better than the DS3.

Who am I kidding? I'll buy it nonetheless... :D I loved playing it on my PC, so to be able to play it on my Sammy will be a bliss. Move or DS3. Thanks to both. I'll post my experience with it here, as soon as have the opportunity to play it.

P.S. Great The Shoot movie TTP! I must stop watching your videos though as most of them end with me buying another game. ;)

lol and I thought my videos had the opposite effect as they tend to focus more on the flaws than the qualities :lol

So... has anyone seen the standalone Move motion controller in the wild? I never have. It's constantly out of stock everywhere: Amazon, BB, GS, etc. I even checked Sony's online store: "Out of Stock"

It's been this way since the damn thing came out. The only way to buy it is with a PS3 or with the camera and a game for $100. Well I already have the camera. The stupid thing is I see the damn Navigation controller practically everytime I turn around. But no Move. It's getting really annoying. The closest I've come was seeing a Move controller used at my local GS for $45. I'd rather fork the extra $5 for a guaranteed new and working one but apparently this used one is the only one in existence on the face of the planet.

It's honestly the only reason I haven't got it yet. So I dropped the hint to my brother for a Christmas present, and he just told me, after searching for 2 days, it's completely nonexistent. So I checked to confirm and sure enough it's still not out anywhere. Do I seriously have to spend an extra $50 to buy things I don't need just to get this thing? Fucking ridiculous.

Is it that popular or did Sony just assume that no one has their PS Eye and drastically undershipped the standalone controller expecting it wouldn't sell without the bundle?

How Move controls work at 0:30
Move vs DS3 comparison starts at 11:00

I must say, that is (yet again) another excellent video that you've created, TTP! It does a great job of showing off the various gameplay elements of Auditorium HD, as well as illustrating exactly how the Move controls work.

Check some Targets if you're in the US. I know the one my buddy works at had a bunch for awhile. Ironically I was talking to him earlier and he mentioned they sold out today, but that for the longest time they had quite a few in stock. He said there was a run of them at his place yesterday/today. So I would definitely check out some Targets if you have any near you.

Thanks for the tips. Awesomely enough, about 3 hours after posting that my dad handed me a Move controller. I'm spending Christmas with the gf's family so I'm spending this wknd with my family doing gifts and dinners and stuff. I have no idea how but someone in my family found it. I'm still flabbergasted.

He refuses to tell me how he found it :lol :lol

Dad is apparently more of a "hardcore" game shopper :D

Nice video TTP..I got The Shoot yesterday but the only problem is I cant do the Showtime power-up :(..you made it look so easy :lol

How do you do it? Spinning on the spot and lasso motion work 100% of the time to me.

I finally saw some standalones earlier tonight at Walmart.

I try the lasso motion..But Im sitting down is that my problem???

Nah. Works while sitting fine. Perhaps try to make the gesture wider? It needs to be quite wide of a motion to work consistently.

Oh ok..Thanks man

One more question TTP...Everytime I use my PS Eye cam for games like Eyepet demo,Start the party demo or anything that shows you..I always appear kinda blue or purple looking :lol Why is that??? Is my cam mess up or defective???

I'm not sure yet what causes that.

I think it's something related to white balancing. I've noticed this as well under particular light conditions. Fluorescent lights seems to be the reason.

Check this vid for example, which I took using a spotlight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22YoHk0Yi2I#t=4m47s

The colors are all messed up. My shirt is supposed to be back (as well as the Move wrist strap) and the sofa red rather than pink :D

In this other video, you can see the proper colors:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7NzV4gb_HQ

Oddly enough, at the end of the last vid, I'm using the very same spotlight I was using in the one with the fucked up colors, but yet the colors are represented correctly.

In any case, it shouldn't affect sphere tracking. As you can see tracking works fine even on the pink sofa :D

Edit - Try using a different light and see if you still show up with strange colors

Thanks TTP!!! I thought my cam was was mess up...:D

There is an easy way to be 100% sure it's fine. Simply go to the XMB accessory settings thing and check the camera feed there. If colors are fine there, your camera is fine :)

I really think Sony needs to cut you a BIG check man...:D Thanks again

hey guys im new to this Move stuff so my questions was what are some of the best games to get on the us psn store.
also i can def recommend racket sports if you are a sports fan, sure the gameplay is not realy realy deep but 30 different locations and 5 or 6 different racket sports realy make up for it.
its def worth the price 25 euro i got it for and i can recommend it for anybody who likes tennis or table tennis. also squash is realy fun on it.

so the games i was concidering are echochrome 2 in 2 days and flight control HD

Tumble is good, if you're not familiar it's a puzzle-ish type game where you stack blocks and stuff. There be a demo if you're interested. It's a good way to show up the accuracy of the Move and a solid game to boot.

I like Beat Sketcher a lot. The demo is kind of minimal, but you can use the Move to draw over images or the PSEye reflection of you. Drawing makes beats and different tunes so you can arrange neat little songs with it. There's also a challenge mode where you trace out lines to create an object, it's alright. It's not for everyone, but I've enjoyed it.

On the OP: The team is larger than Dr. Marks and Anton. They are the public faces of the tech but the OP makes it sound like everything Eye and Move-related is a two-person team.

It's odd. I went shopping yesterday and is easy to find move controllers but no luck with the bundle... Should I go for the eye and Move controller for separate?
