PlayStation Store 06/01/10 - Planet Minigolf

Seems like a very thin week for US (but an explosion of avatars, lol).

Oh well, Planet minigolf demo and Pulse gets.

I'll agree that Creat has been a really awesome developer but that goddamn fake Vectrex look needs to die in a fire. Feels like every other game has it nowdays. Vector graphics is the new zombies. :(

2 PSN games is bad? WTF

I'm there mostly for the PSP stuff and PSone classic. I get most of the other stuff on XBLA.

I don't normally advocate people losing their jobs, but whoever is running the PSP division at SCEA should be fired. The system has gone into the crap bin and there doesn't seem to be any real forethought into fixing the problems. SCEA keeps on attempting half solutions.

Terrible bundles, no price drops, and lack of updates on the Playstation Store. Why would anyone want a GO in the first place anymore when Sony fails to update the store with content? At least SCEE has the right idea. It is desperation time with the PSP.

Sony should do a mass price drop on legacy titles too. $9.99 is a good start, but it should be lower. $4.99 for legacy PSP games, $9.99 for big name legacy PSP games. $14.99 for new titles from smaller developers. $19.99 max price for big name games. Square Enix has a full scale RPG on the itunes store for $12.99.

You'll be lucky if you ever see it on the Playstation store. :/

PSN only games are awesome too, unless you don't a PS3.

I will not reveal my song until next week.

This week isn't totally useless a lot of price drops:
Ape Escape: On The Loose - $9.99 (From $15.99)
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee - $9.99 (from $15.99)
Socom: Fire Team Bravo - $9.99 (from $15.99)
Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow - $9.99 (from $24.99)
Twisted Metal: Head On - $9.99 (from $19.99)
LittleBigPlanet PSP - $19.99 (from $39.99)
Gran Turismo - $19.99 (from $39.99)
Resistance Retribution - $19.99 (from $39.99)
Secret Agent Clank - $19.99 (from $39.99)

Some decent sales too:
Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer - $7.99 (from $9.99)
Mahjongg Artifacts: Chapter 2 - $1.99 (from $4.99)
Stand O' Food - $1.99 (from $4.99)
Obscure: The Aftermath - $14.99 (from $29.99)

It was there day 1 in Japan. If Atlus USA can have day 1 releases on PSN, pretty sure Konami can too.

EDIT : Hmmm where is DMprince?

Out of curiosity, how's the soundtrack distributed? Is it an installed app that after it being run dumps the mp3's to the PS3 HDD (à la the Heavy Rain soundtrack), or do you download the mp3's directly?

It is an installed app which dumps out the individual files, and which also allows us to bundle in the Dynamic Theme and some concept art as a bonus.

Awesome, a definite purchase then.

I don't think MGS5 could make any money at a $19.99 pricepoint. The reason that SE iPhone RPG is $13 on iPhone is because it has no where near the budget their PSP releases have had. Dissidia took years to develop and looks like a PS2 game, their iPhone stuff took months to develop, and their most expensive iPhone game looks like a PS1 game.

As for MGS5, it's confirmed for a PSN release in North America. If Konami USA can put out Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on PSN day and date with the UMD, than clearly they can do the same for MGS5.

Hmm... under special offers, SOCOM and the others of the "PSP Legacy" titles are $10. Wonder if SCEA is pulling a "week only" thing or doing the perma drop a la SCEE. Still, may have to buy Hot Shots Golf just have a nice little diversion on the PSP. :lol

perma drops. in line with the new $10 umd range.

When is the US PSN update... I've been waiting to hear if we get the Backbreaker demo.

True Story: I actually have a copy of N2O and that Wrath of the Tiger game for PS1 somewhere in my room.

LBP PSP sounds tempting, Syphon Filter LS is price dropped but isn't Dark Mirror still over 20?

Oy vey.

LocoRoco (PSN) - $22.99
LocoRoco 2 (PSN) - $7.99
LocoRoco: Midnight Carnival (PSN) - $14.99

Patapon (PSN) - $15.99
Patapon 2 (PSN) - $7.99

Why is the oldest game the most expensive? lol.

BTW- Dark Mirror is showing as $15.99 for me on PSN. Still weirdly priced.

I hated that tiger game. And I remeber renting the N20 game and being sorely disappointed.

Depends on what you mean by ''stop''. It sure did ''stop'' it from selling a lot.

Well I meant more in terms of it getting released. It was an obvious bad idea from the start, but it still came out.

Just to break up the bitching, can anyone give impressions on Minigolf? Looking forward to giving the demo a shot tonight :)

This somewhat lead to my question. How are psone games chosen and put up on PSN. I was under the impression that the publishers had to spend money to put them up on the store. They have to test it on the most recent PS3 and PSP firmware then have Sony approves them. Do they pay money to have them up on the store (do they need a license from Sony again, or are their old psx licenses still valid). I can't see the logic behind those terrible games no one are buying. If it costs money to put them up, why would you waste $$$? A lot of the 100 classics are horrible and pretty sure no one are buying them.

Update is up: PS1 Classic of the week is
N2O: Nitrous Oxide.

A completely random, pointless PSone classic that nobody remembers nor wants. How predictable. Lets guess next weeks. My guess is Mary Kate and Ashley: Winners Circle

It's hard to believe they'll make the same huge mistake twice.

I actually remember it, it was somewhat notable because it had music by The Crystal Method.

I do have to wonder, how is it something like that, with licensed music, make it up on PSN, while so many other titles, without that issue, aren't.

Perhaps if we lobby for the above crapfest to be released we'll get a decent game instead. Yay for reverse psychology! :D
