From what I understand, its the same setup as the MGS levels. A level Pack that includes new levels + new gameplay tool (water in this case) and a Costume pack separately.

So not free, no. Of course you don't need to buy it to play user levels that have water. Only to create with it.

You don't get trophies unless you buy it, either.

Frankly, it's worth it at $5 like the MGS4 pack before it.

5% of level creators > MM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dogshit >>>> 95% level creators.

You're buying QUALITY over the level create stuff.

Meanwhile: I'll probably pick up the Sackboy avatar for $.25. Yes, yes, part of the problem... but I'm so fucking sick of my eight-ball. :/

Ok, the Pirates pack for LBP is tempting enough for me to possibly double dip on this game, but I have a question before I do:

I'm in the US with a US PS3. I purchased the Euro version of the game through a deal from the CAG forums (for $25). It plays fine of course (god bless region free) *except* I can only pull down DLC from Europe for the game. Easy enough for the free stuff, just made a Euro account, but I of course don't have a Euro CC for retail purchases. I didn't think this was going to be a huge deal (can still use any user levels) but I'm starting to get interested in some of the MM paid DLC.

So I figure I'll double dip and pick up the GotY edition and get some of that content to start with. Here's the rub: My youngest daughter and I played through the game (and had a great time co-op), completing the game together -- so we have a save with quite a bit of progression.

If I pick up the US GotY edition will I lose access to my save, and therefore our progress? That might be a deal killer, $50 + starting over might bit a bit more than I want to bite off.

I realize this is a pretty unique question, so I doubt anyone will know the answer, but in the realm of GAF anything is possible.

Maybe I'll pick up a used copy of the game just to try it out since I can return to GS easy enough if it doesn't work.

At least you could have done it right. YOU CAN play POTC levels without buying them if you're in multiplayer with a host that bought them.

AFAIK, game saves are tied to a specific game ID just like DLC. Your Euro save will not work with a US copy of the game because the game's have different ID #'s. Look for somebody who sells Euro PSN cards and will email you the code or try to buy DLC using a virtual credit card like Entropay (Not sure if that will work, but some Euro's have said it works on the US store).

The LBP descriptions are weird, the "Level Kit" doesn't actually mention any pre-made levels or new water feature. Just seems like it contains a bunch of stickers for making levels and such. Pretty unclear description, I'm not surprised people are confused.

They don't. Purchased from EU store, can't use it on my US account.

All new levels (even for the old trilogy) + levels for the new Indy movie + online co op +level editor (and sharing/visiting other's levels function too) + trophy support.

I doubt all that will be shown off in the demo though. :(

Yes, as good as those shots imo.

Music ranges from Hip Hop to Jazz. Keep in mind i played the game only 30 min, so maybe there is good music too. But somehow i doubt that.

There is nothing special about them. Just some LBP art tossed in there. I don't get what's so "special" about them compared to the others (and these needed a fw update to be supported? Really?). I purchased the standard Sackboy one (it's dirty cheap anyway). You can check it out on my online profile.
