Has Pokemon always been this annoyingly fetch questy? I haven't played one for more than 5 minutes since Ruby so I don't remember, and I'm getting a little annoyed that I have 14 hours in the game and I still only have one badge due to the ridiculous amounts of forced side crap.

Edit: Can you get a 4 perfect IV pokemon in Frienss Safari? It seems that I got a Timid Ditto with perfect HP, Attack, Sp Attack & Sp Defense

Wow, that's a great catch. And yeah, you can get pokemon with more than 2 perfect IVs, but they're pretty rare, especially with 4/5 perfect IVs. I think you have a better chance capturing a shiny there.

I'm new to breedind and confused :(

I just caught two Dittos so I can breed some Fennekins and Bulbasaurs but the daycare man says my pokemon don't like each other. I have tried pairing a Jolly and a Modest Ditto with my Brave Fennekin and Modest Bulbasaur, but neither of the combinations worked (the daycare man outside keeps saying they dont like each other).

Am I doing something wrong here or do I just have bad luck? :(

They can have eggs, it's just that they won't give the mas frequently. It's only a problem if the two pokemon prefer to play with others.

Ditto prefers to play with other pokemon (won't breed with itself).

Just because pokemon don't like each other doesn't mean they won't bang given enough time locked together.

They'll bang. Just with hate. Which is the best banging.

And, they don't like each other because they're different species from the same game.

Now, if that Ditto was from someone else's game, they'll love each other and bang happily.

The pacing before the second badge is terrible. It picks up after that.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I thought that "dont like each other = wont bang".

I'll just wait for them to start having furious violent sex then :D

Pacing? All the pacing in pokemon games that matter is the appearance of new pokemon. It's not like any of the other content matters at all.

Didn't you know? Not liking each other does not rule out sex, apparently. Pokemon are super sluts.

So how does Breloom learn Spore?

You need to level Shroomish up to level 45 and then let it evolve after that. It CANNOT learn it from the move relearner as a Breloom. Assuming you want Mach Punch as well, you'll need to go to the move relearner after Shroomish evolves since Breloom learns it at level 23.

Online record: 0-20. Everyone's so damn good lol. I'll just stick to mario kart 7. That's the only game where I feel like I'm somewhat decent :X

So I'm usually sticking with xerneas, greninja, and charizard. I'm guessing that's a horrible combination since I keep losing... Anyone have some recommendations? Or am I being to vague

If most teams I encounter online will be IV-perfect monsters I'll probably never stand a chance. Shit's too complex for me to bother with right now, lol.

The Battle Maison's 3-Pokemon matches wrecked me in lumiose. What a massive difficulty uptick from the entire main game, including the god damn Champion lol. I mean, I like it, and am looking forward to overcoming it. But why not a more gradual difficulty curve?

December can't come soon enough. I need my army of trained mons.

I've so far only trained new oones but I can't bother myself to train stuff I already have, I'll try some new stuff in the meantime but I'm not succeding much :(

No way! We're in a twilight of equality right now. When PokeBank opens, my competitive spirit will be crushed!

Can anyone write up a super basic guide about breeding? In particular I'm interested in IV and natures. From what I understand there's some sort of formula to calculate IVs of your baby and you can have your nature passed down if one of the parents are holding everstone? Also, do you use dittos to breed or use two parents with good IV stats and stuff.

Shit, after EV training Breloom I just realized it never learned Spore.

Please someone tell me I can get it from the move relearner and don't have to breed more Shroomishes.

Hey man at least you didn't spend two hours catching hordes of Pumpkaboo for Bullet Seed Technician Breeloom before realizing that Pumpkaboo don't mate with shit

SPEAKING OF, does anyone here know the simplest way of transferring Bullet Seed over to my breed Breelooms? I'm thinking Exeggutor is really my only simple option or maybe breeding Bullet Seed over to Trevenant using Pumpkaboo

Ah, fighting a load of hordes and then noticing you have EXP share turned off *sigh*.

Also nearly lost double battles round 1. Persian's base 115 speed got the better of my maxed Mienshao (base 105), Agieslash had to save the day (as usual). I've not really been able to capitalise on regenerator ability yet either.

There are plenty of resources out there but this quick write up (written by someone new to breeding themselves) really made things click for me so I could start seeking out additional information.

I believe the OP will answer all of your questions.

I don't think the former is true. I've caught multiple 3+ IV Pokes at the Safari, you just need to catch like 6 of one, and 1-2 are bound to have 3+ IVs. I've yet to encounter a shiny.

No way! We're in a twilight of equality right now. When PokeBank opens, my competitive spirit will be crushed!

I mean you could continue to train some competitive teams now and rejoice in the fact that yours took approx 10% of the time it took pokebank'd teams to take shape in the old games, when EV training and IV inheritance weren't as easy as the campaign :p

That guide said IVs only matter when using Hidden Power. From what I understand this isn't necessarily true, right, as it determines your eventual max stats and everything?

Not perfect, no, but I was in the same situation as the poster who asked and that article at least gave me a handle on the basics and provided a jumping off point to, like I said, be able to seek out additional information and understand what I was reading.

It's certainly going to dampen mine as well. The gap between people who just jumped into competitive and those who've long been into it is going to be pretty big.

It's better late than never, right? It's like fighting games. If you get into one now without the proper training, you'll get devoured.

But, if you keep at it and you train with people in and above your skill level, you'll learn along the way.

you know that's not what they're talking about

What are the differences between BW2 Pokemon coming from Pokebank and the Pokemon you breed here? All I can think of are movesets, which I'm probably going to have to trade for :(.

Exactly. My Nidoking will never have Superpower or the Elemental Punches, which really hurts my perfectly bred Adamant Nidoking.

Pokemon from earlier gens won't have that Pentagon in the summary screen next to the "Markings"!

Thanks. The OP helped me quite a bit to understand breeding in this game now. I just have one last question. Is leveling and using the IV calculator the only way to figure out what the IVs are for the parent or is there another way? I understand you use the judge in one of the towns and see his responses to see if it has high IV values but how do I pinpoint if the parent has perfect IV values?

I mean, can't you PokeBank pokes you have in X/Y and then send them over to Black 2, give them moves and send them back? I don't see why not, unless it's one-way.

OMG why is Charizardite so much money :(

Whats an easy way to get more money?

1.Go to the Poke Ball Boutique in Lumiose.
2.Use the Bargaining O-Power.
3. Keep buying Premier Balls (the cheapest) one by one until your style increases a lot.

The lowest the mega stones can get is 10,000, which is the price I got the Blastoisinite and Venusaurite.

He say stats like those can't be beat when they're perfect. He also "insults" a stat if it has zero IVs.

Tried the reset method for breeding and managed to get my perfect special attacker Charmander with Solar Power. I didn't have to rejig the parents at all and I got it on maybe the 5th or 6th egg. I probably could have done this in 15 minutes as opposed to 1h+

Hey do you have any charmander reject from that project? I want to get my own too and I would like to get there faster, I could give you one aerodactyl with 4ivs (stil trying to get one with 5)

I caught something like 4 or 5 boxes full of safari pokemon, 2 of them full of nothing but Ditto, and only 3 of them had 3 perfect IVs. Even when I include the other pokemon I caught none of them had more than 3 perfect IVs. Yet I caught two shiny pokemon while I was there.

Oh. Maybe I wasn't paying attention to the dialogue properly. Alright. Thanks. Then why do people say to use a calculator for IVs when they can just use the judge?
