I was expecting 20, but the game is coming out about six months earlier than I expected so I don't think they'll be able to hit that number. I hope I'm wrong though.I'd be surprised if the Wii U version had less than 16. The current arcade select screen can hold 14. They are going to add at least 2 on top of that imo. And if they expand the select screen for one more on each side of each row...then it's actually pretty logical they end up with 20.
16 - 20 isn't bad at all for a starting roster.
I don't think so. I'd the average is about 10 then More characters are usually introduced when it hits console. Anyways it's pretty much guaranteed that we'll see more Pokemon here so this is kinda mootNot really, most are 13 - 15.
And then even more when they hit consoles.

I imagine Mewtwo's going to be playable because fans will complain if he's not.
I'd rather have a mix of light, middle and heavyweight characters.
I hope Blastoise gets in just so we can have the classic Charizard vs. Blastoise match-up. Hoping for some Gen 5 and 6 stuff too.I imagine Mewtwo's going to be playable because fans will complain if he's not.

I can vouch for that. I will in fact complain if he's not playable.I imagine Mewtwo's going to be playable because fans will complain if he's not.
I went into a complete blackout regarding this game and recently I say some footage of Gengar vs Pikachu. Completely different game since last I saw it.
Did anyone played this ? The last video felt like there was no more Tekken parts to it, looks like an original 3D pokemon battle game to me. Or the mechanics are still somewhat similar to Tekken ?
It was pretty daunting at first to do commentary. Not because of the gameplay for me, but because I didn't know every Pokemon by heart, their skills or how to pronounce their names lol.
2nd lightest if they add Jigglypuff. If we go by Smash Logic, Mewtwo would be the lightest character in the game
wow even when losing Suicune is boring to look at
I'd be down for that.Mewtwo seems like the perfect "boss" character. He's probably in.
I'm just hoping for more unorthodox choices like Suicune.
And by that I mean
From the video it seems to play more like the Naruto fighters than Tekken, but I could be wrong.
Maybe that could be his burst mode thing since he doesn't have a mega evolution.I would love to see Zoraork but I can't imagen how they would implement his Illusion ability.
Can anyone think of a way to implement that? I'd love to hear it.
Doesn't the Japanese version have the Japanese anime voices?
Edit: I was watching some matches from Japan and Gengar's Ultra move does so much damage. The guy also uses Whimsicott's Subsitute as an assist to cover himself.

The only similarity it has to Naruto games is the field camera, after that the similarities end there. It plays nothing like the Naruto games -- for one thing, there isn't just a single melee attack button and you have more than two special moves. In other words, it's deeper than the Naruto games (but that probably isn't saying much because the Naruto games are extremely simple).
The duel phase all on its own makes this completely different from the Naruto games. It's closer to Tekken in how it is designed than the Naruto games -- juggle combos, wall splats, sidestepping, etc. It may not have highs, mids, or lows but it has the other traits of a Tekken game.
Blaziken is technically in beta right now since he's being removed at the end of the month for tweaking. Pikachu Libre will probably get the same treatment in the arcades after that so I don't know how many they'll be able to add by launch. They could continue to do it like that when the Wii U version hits but who knows.
Also, I hope you can get everything easily in the Wii U version. For example, Whimsicott and Jirachi are assists but you can only use them if you used your player card to play the game between a certain date. Event-only content only puts you at a disadvantage in a fighting game.
Who? I thought Sean Schemmel voiced Lucario in Brawl. If they do decide to dub the Pokemon voices, I hope Bill Rogers does Lucario. His Lucario sounds are freaking fierce (see Brawl) and better than the Japanese ones, in my opinion.

I personally want Druddigon or a Greninja that hasn't been Sakurai-nerfed.
All of this stuff will definitely just be available in the console version at launch. This is how this stuff works. Arcade version is basically a beta test for parts of the game, then the console release is the full deal with everything available. Console version will end up with more characters than arcade will eventually have also.
And I would be surprised if Mewtwo isn't the boss (and playable).
Like I said, calling it now, for the Wii U release 16 minimum. Maybe up to 20.
Am I the only one disappointed that the random character isn't a Ditto that transforms into a random character as the match begins?

Now I want this.Am I the only one disappointed that the random character isn't a Ditto that transforms into a random character as the match begins?
Well, I wasn't until you brought it up. Now I am. That would be amazing.Am I the only one disappointed that the random character isn't a Ditto that transforms into a random character as the match begins?
It is rendering the same game twice, once at 720p and once at 480p.

It really looks like it's its own thing completely, but the Naruto games seem like your best bet. Definitely not Tekken.Hey yall, my boyfriend wants a game similar to Pokken to try before Pokken comes out -- should we just get Tekken?
I figure it's way closer to a Naruto or DBZ style game
Or do what Tekken did. Have Ditto be Mokujin where's he's a different character each round.Am I the only one disappointed that the random character isn't a Ditto that transforms into a random character as the match begins?
As far as the roster goes there's one mon I really want to make it in...
This, Splatoon, Smash 4, Mario Kart 8, W101, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, Tropical Freeze, & 3D World alone are worth the price of admission. Is a Wii U worth it for this game alone. . maybe Smash also. Geez this is a system seller.
Pikachu Libre looks like quite possibly the worst character choice I've seen in any crossover fighter yet.

I heard Xenoblade X was good & yes, there is DLC for the game. Those games look great in their own way but I don't think I fit the targeted audience.
Zelda U, Pokken, and Smash honestly seem like the only game I would play without regretting my purchase. Nintendo makes great games nonetheless and that should never be questioned.
How is Xenoblade (sp?) on the Wii U will there be expansions/DLC?
The only thing is that Pokemon games (main and spinoff) have a history of having event-only content. Most of it is usually already on the disc/cart but hopefully they won''t pull any of that with the Wii U version.
