Politico: Hannity Calls for Staff Meeting

What the fuck is Hannity's head really tiny or is Gorka's head really huge? Or both?

Either one is a giant or the other is super tiny.

Seriously. It's hurting my brain in so many different ways.

I hate to say it but better the devil you know.

Watch Hannity and O'Reilly form a new Legion Of Doom and start spreading their toxic shit through some other manner.

Their stubborn elderly bigoted base would have to put in effort to find them though when they can just stick to TV and keep it turned to Fox

I'm assuming the staff meeting was for him to threaten everyone with lawsuits if they talk to the media about him after he leaves.

I doubt it was to say a nice goodbye.

I'll celebrate with everybody if Hannity goes, but so far there's no reason to think Fox is getting better. Ditching O'Reilly for Tucker Carlson is not a political win. It's just swapping out an old part for a new one.

If somebody like Ben Shapiro or SE Cupp takes over for Hannity, what difference does it make?

Time for Shep Smith and Chris Wallace to get a primetime show for themselves on FOX. Maybe we can actually get some decent stories out there.

Tucker Carlson is making his dumbass interview face at this post

lol seriously. I prefer old out of touch O'Reilly with his irrelevant geriatric audience to Tucker Carlson giving voice to a new generation of millennial GamerGate-aggrieved males.

But it's not about preference. I'm mainly arguing it's a lateral move.

Yeah, I didn't know anybody took Carlson seriously, until threads cheering him on started showing up on the_donald. And then his AMA. Fox is shifting in the guy popular with the younger generation.

how has Hannity never been hit with a libel suit by now I just don't know.

also, during the Cliven Bundy debacle, he came dangerously close to inciting violence. Ted Koppel wasn't wrong, he is bad for America. Whoever replaces him would have to work hard to be as destructive as that jerk is.

Yeah, and Carlson is more attuned to the actual left than O'Reilly, which can be dangerous. A major undercurrent of Fox News is to associate the Democratic party's centrist bullshit with socialism and "the left". It gives the false impression that only the insane white nationalists have anything to say to working class people.

Drain the swamp

wouldn't 'move the swamp somewhere else' be the more likely outcome to all the Fox News happenings? A shit show by any other name still stinks. There is a demand for their trash, so I wouldn't expect it to be gone for long.

God, I was so pissed when I saw Carlson's confused expression on Fox with his new time slot. If you want a laugh go look up why he stopped wearing a bow tie.

Yea like I sort of expect o'Reilly and Hannity to end up doing the same shit just on a different network or in a different format.

Wasn't their already rumors around o'Reilly doing some podcast thing.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Where's the "Happening" bunker gif?? I know most of you have it stashed away on your drives.

The old white people I know turn to One America News, when Fox ain't giving them their fix.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_America_News_Network

The actual news is not as blatantly biased as Fox, but it still has plenty of over-the-top conservative editorial shows masquerading as news - plenty to get 'em riled up again.

Someone I know in her twenties posted an anti-feminist video by a OANN host to her Facebook. I didn't know what it was at the time, but it looks like her brain's being rotted.

There is still a massive audience for someone like Hannity. With the way the business model is shifting he can probably move over to streaming/podcasting, own all his shit and make more money than he ever did while still maintaining a massive audience. Not sure this is a big win just yet, as he and his toxic rhetoric will still be around and still have a reach, but it will be interesting to see if Fox News pivots more to the center now (as crazy as it is to even say that).

Where else can he go where he will have as large an audience? All other stations are left of fox and I can't see him getting his own program. Is he going to go the route of glen?

That won't have near the reach that Fox News has. It has to be something an old person can access without it being something with the word "pod" or "cast" in it or requiring internet access and an internet consumption device to access.

My stepdad won't even cordcut because of Fox News. Not having the ability to just tune in without having to select what show to watch is not good enough for him.

It's harder to make a living telling people that the sky is falling when they feel like they won.

Fox News is hurting because of behind the scenes scandals they could no longer ignore. It has nothing to do with declining popularity or a less appealing message or anything like that. I'm pretty sure their ratings are as good as ever (although I'm sure they've taken a bit with O'Reilly gone).

Also took Fox something like 20 years to build themselves up into the position they have on TV and the internet. That's not something that's easy to replicate.

The average age of their viewers is 68 I think. No matter how loyal your viewers are they cant turn on their tv from the grave. This might be a move to bring in younger people to appeal to the new right wing republicans.

Doesn't really make sense. MSNBC's primetime programming involves trashing Trump and conservatives nonstop.

EDIT: The linked article is from before Rachel Maddow started beating Fox News in ratings, before the mass exodus of people from Fox due to the skeevy shit going on, before the major anti-Trump surge in the public sentiment. A lot has changed in that time and I highly doubt Andy Lack still feels the same way.

You'd think that... but... nope.

This is a good article. It would be unfortunate if Lack succeeds, but as the article details his moves towards centricism and away from minority hosts hurt ratings, so maybe at some point he will have to answer for that?
