nope. don't see the point in buying a 4K tv until we get consoles that can do 4K as standard. it's a waste of money right now with the PS4 Pro + XB1X.
As someone who plays on an older 1080, my low end 4k, and my buddy's high end 4k often, I can't say I really see a significant difference worth spending any serious money on. Definitely doesn't improve gameplay in any way, just looks slightly nicer... Not worth the money at all honestly...Disagree. I don't think 4K/HDR is a waste of money at all. Visuals on the 1X are outstanding, well worth it. Pro as well, on the Sony exclusives.

oh i have the money but i just don't think it's worth it. why should i drop £400 on an XB1X and £300+ on a 4K tv when i'm not getting 4K in all games? just like the Pro the XB1X uses upscaling/checkerboarding in a lot of games. both consoles are too weak for native 4K in all titles.I disagree. 4K gaming on the X and Pro make it well worth the cost. Also, there will be a bunch more great games in 2019, and all of them will benefit from a 4K set.
I say now is a good time to buy in. At least if you have the money. Otherwise, you're stuck playing games with subpar visuals for the next 2 years.
4k isn't really worth it unless you sit closer or get a much bigger screen. i have a 42" 1080p which suits me fine. to get the same pixels per inch on a 4K i'd need to get an 84" screen. As someone who plays on an older 1080, my low end 4k, and my buddy's high end 4k often, I can't say I really see a significant difference worth spending any serious money on. Nope, just not a big enough difference to even care. I have a crappy set but my buddy's is really great lol, still doesn't make me enjoy games any more...sounds like your buddy has a crappy set or you didn't spend enough time looking at the differences
lmfao make your mind up. "depends on game, of course" yeah no shit. the xb1x can do 4K in some games but not all. rdr2 is 4K but there are plenty of games that run at below 4K and upscale. stop moving the goalposts.Too bad, sounds like your buddy has a crappy set or you didn't spend enough time looking at the differences. I can see them clearly. They make a big difference in visual quality, at least at the right range and size of TV.
Depends on game, of course. Try RDR2, for instance.
Honestly it doesn't matter to me. 1080 provides all the detail I could ever need to functionally play games. 4k looking slightly better isn't really a big deal to me at all, I'm much more of a framerate guy...4k isn't really worth it unless you sit closer or get a much bigger screen. i have a 42" 1080p which suits me fine. to get the same pixels per inch on a 4K i'd need to get an 84" screen.

I have a 50" Samsung Plasma in the basement that continues to chug along. Great TV and it was a late-enough model that had solved the burn-in.55 1080p Panny Plasma st50 and may it live forever, fuck lcds
That's because most 4K movies do not come from an actual 4K source. The resolution bump has really only been noticable to me in Blade Runner and Pacific Rim. They're almost completely different movies.

Is this the 2018 version? I'm planning on getting this set on the holidays. Looked good when I went to best buy when they had it on display.
