Poor Vita performance dragging down Sony's entire gaming unit

Pretty much. Square just need to give me a new Dissidia after Golden, and you don't even need to launch new games on Vita Sony. It's that easy.

Sounds good. But to me, the Vita is dead after P4G comes out. I don't really care what Sony does after that game releases.

Shouldve made a Vita series of smartphones and tablets with the bubble OS.

Sony go with the flow man, its not too late to bring Vita phones/tablets that will play Vita games. That way you dont have to kill Vita handheld since they all would play Vita games.

Battery issue alone will make this move unfeasible.

Also, there is no app for vita. (Don't even think about going android)

YS?

but if that wasn't the case in your mind, you'd happily troll it correct?

surprised you have lasted this long around here.....shouldn't be that much longer however. Don't hold back now though.

boring system? haha.

No that is not correct.

Vita's main differentiating features are dual analog controls and great graphics. For most consumers (particularly in the handheld market) those are unimportant (ie boring).

Perhaps I'm language is strong, but Vita is a pretty crazy miscalculation. It's tough to dance around it.

This company will burn itself to the ground from it's stubbornness

Sony needs to adapt ASAP

This isn't the '80's anymore, you can't go through the motions, and think you're 1 gadget away from becoming relevant again

Tech is moving in an ungodly rate

What Sony R&D for 3-5 years today... is fucking ancient by the time it releases

Only way to grab customers is to make the customers feel like they are stealing your product, bargain galore while paying you for it

I used to say what needed to be in a package to get Vita going... now that shit goes out the window

Vita + 8GB (Minimum, phase out the 4GB... it's useless.. fucking 3.3GB for LBPKart Beta... come the fuck on!)
Throw in a first party game
Throw in a 3 month sub for video/music unlimited
Throw in a DD title (Motorstorm RC says Hi... you fools.. pre-installed... ready to go)
$50 PSN card (Yes... it's a lot of money... it's money going into your store, you stupid fucks!, if they start liking purchasing DD stuff... guess what you got another customer)
Good advertising

resident evil revelations had commercials so the fact that it sold on par with uncharted GA is disturbing. I don't think the 3ds audience is interested in any rated M game let alone resident evil. Revelations would have been a perfect fit for vita
lol, no it didn't. Capcom had ZERO advertising for it in the US and Nintendo only threw it into a Valentines general 3DS ad after the fact.

Uncharted GA was hyped to high hell and was positioned as THE killer app for Vita launch. It's the best selling game on the system by far and overall that means it did about as well as... a 3DS bomb. lol.

And for specific numbers:

Japan
RE Revelations: 246,469
Uncharted GA: 58,213

USA
150k > RE Revelations > 130k
Uncharted GA > 200k

And for specific numbers:

Japan
RE Revelations: 246,469
Uncharted GA: 58,213

USA
150k > RE Revelations > 130k
Uncharted GA > 200k

So the best selling Vita game did quite a bit worse than an alleged 3DS bomb. Amazing.

tgs is right around the corner. care to make a ban bet?(they aren't permanent irc?)

Dude, I'm not making any bet with you. Heck, I'm surprised I'm still wasting time responding to you after some of the ludicrous things you've posted in this topic. I MUST be extremely bored...

Horrible, horrible post....

The president of Square Enix doesn't even consider Sony a Japanese hardware maker anymore, Wada said Nintendo was the last one.

Can I see the quote to this?.

Lol no, Resident Evil Revelations came out during a time where other big games where coming out, the 3DS audience is very interested in the M rated games.

uncharted golden abyss hyped like hell? lol what world do you live in. I remember seeing commercials for resident evil revelations.

Bro it was the premier vita game and THE game to get at the vita's launch. And resident evil revelations was not advertised by Capcom in the US. Nintendo did all the advertising for the game here

What are you talking about? It was THE game to get if you got a Vita. Sony did a lot to push that title, advertising everywhere and major coverage for weeks on every website and magazine...

You know why Gravity Rush was talked about, played so much on people's Vita, it was the game was a new experience that can't be had on consoles

You can play at any pace

You can plat in 3 days if you want or take your time and enjoy the ride, might take a few weeks

No chapter loads, no stupid gimmicky requirements, doesn't force you to use Vita feature because they are there to be ham-fisted in

Uncharted GA was an example of taking the "Movie/Cinematic" experience, trying to pocketize it, adding in useless motion/touchscreen shenanigans, then breaking apart the story into 35 fucking chapters... some of the goddamn chapters are like 1 minute gameplay, 8 minute cutscene
The coolest aspect of GA even remotely that made me go, holy fuck that is clever, is you holding your Vita into the light, and moving your Vita around, the light would make the paper in the game show you wording hidden away
Rubbing on the Vita screen to get a charcoal painting after the first few times becomes boring
Piecing together ripped up pieces to see what it was became a chore after doing the first few also

Marketing tends to be the excuse posters use when a product they like sells like shit.

True but for a time last gen those 3 countries were something like the 1st, 2nd, and 6th or 7th largest console markets. So to be fair I'd round that to 1.5, though if you want to be precise maybe 1.25 or 1.3.

lol, love the endless baiting but let's be honest - in terms of actual "marketshare" us = about 50% the total, so let's try to be fair...

I live on planet Earth. You know, the one where Capcom decided not to advertise RER in the US.

It was advertised fairly well in the US

Monday Night Raw had constant replays of that commercial (hell they were showing RE6, it's due in October, but were showing commercials in fucking May/June)
I think even ESPN played it, if I'm not mistaken

GA I did not see 1 fucking commercial for it
A couple of VITA adds of #GAMECHANGER, that is all

I watch close to 100 hours of TV, every week

uncharted golden abyss hyped like hell? lol what world do you live in. I remember seeing commercials for resident evil revelations.

Earth.

RE:R got half a spot alongside Mario 3D Land. The Flight lasted about two weeks. Marketing is more than commercials dude. Golden Abyss had a ton of exposure through various outlets.

The Vita isn't completely devoid of software success stories - Persona 4 Golden sold 137k in its first week. If I'm not mistaken, that means it had a stronger opening week on a single platform than any Persona game except for the original Persona 4 (Persona 4 Arena sold a tiny bit more with 138k in its first week but that's a multi-platform release). And Persona 4 Golden isn't a brand-new game, it's an enhanced port so I imagine Atlus is very pleased with how it's doing.

Given that all of the Persona games are available on either the PSP or Vita and the series has done well on those platforms (with the exception of P2:EP), I'm guessing Persona 5 will end up being released on the Vita, in addition to any home console releases it gets.

Marketing tends to be the excuse posters use when a product they like sells like shit.

I admit that it is one of the factors you look at first if a game sells like shit. But here, an argument is made that RE:Revelations was marketed and Uncharted wasn't.
While I saw some commercials for RE:revelations, the coverage Uncharted got was way more, with extensive coverage both offline as online. Makes sense of course, since that was one (maybe evene THE) of the titles that was supposed to sell Vita's.

You know what's something else that I've mentioned before that I think is an issue? The fucking name of the game.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss should've been called Uncharted 0, and it's sub-title should've been something more interesting than Golden Abyss.

If the game had been called "Uncharted 0: Drake's History" or something like that, it probably would've sold a bit better.

you are in a minority - many people place the Uncharted games as thus:

U2>GA>U1>U3

I agree the charcol rubbing got old and the motion/touch seemed 'forced' (I always sticdk to real controls whenever I can anyway) but really, it's a fantastic game and I suspect the smaller chapters were to help it's portability

I actually agree with you. In retrospect my comment to you wasn't entirely clear. I guess I'm bemused by a lot of marketing comments in this thread (not yours).

Commercials? lol
Btw, Revelations would have not performed any better on Vita. It would have done something better if RE6 was not announced a few weeks before, probably.

They should've called it "Uncharted 0: Valley of the Drake" and ride the wave of popularity for Dark Souls!

Who said this ? Its rather a minority.

The only US Revelations ad was the Valentines Day one from Nintendo, and it was a general system ad that led with SM3DL and finished with several game boxes on screen (Mario Kart, Tekken and OOT iirc). Capcom never ran any ads for it.

You might be thinking ORC, which was probably the commercial with the heaviest rotation from Capcom USA since RE5. They also started RE6 advertising early by including a snippet about the 360 demo with their Dragon's Dogma ad.

I thought the general consensus was that it went U2 > U3 > U1 > U:GA. Haven't played U3 yet but based on playing about 50-66% of Golden Abyss, I'd say it's the worst in the series.

Not that it matters much. "Worst Uncharted" still equals "Pretty good game."
