Possible Kojima Productions Reveal in Three Days?

I know hardly anyone will notice this post, but...

Regarding that weather pattern, anyone else think it simply represents the state of mind of Kojima's fans? Right now we're leaving the storm, going into something less severe, and the torrent, if you want to call it that, will diminish as we're granted more clues? The sun meaning, of course, that "everything's become clear." The exclamation point could indicate a surprise. Seems to coincide with the five countdown theory, each one probably leading up to a clue.

just because people ignore posts like that doesn't mean they don't notice them.

Well yeah, whatever. Nothing really substantial, but I was just tossing it out there. This thread is crazy enough it didn't seem like my post would be too out of place :lol

Probably didn't word that well enough. What I meant to say is the weather pattern might be the intended level of hype or discussion, maybe mystery surrounding this announcement. At first there's nothing, just the cloud, then when it's revealed that something is happening there's the storm, which will eventually clear up as more info is revealed.

Here's another odd thing about the timer.

It starts on the 18th.
It starts again on the 22nd. 4 days.
It starts again on the 27th. 5 days.
It starts again on the 30th. 3 days.
It starts again on the 1st. 2 days.

Odd how that works.

Okay so, in response to those posts, my friend said this to me in an IM and told me to pass it along to GAF.

(2:43:53 AM) me: look at this DETECTIVE WORK.
(2:43:58 AM) me: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=15892526&postcount=1183
(2:44:27 AM) her: i like that
(2:44:31 AM) her: i love reading actionscript
(2:44:47 AM) her: someone should track down the FLA file
(2:44:51 AM) her: or dissect the swf
(2:45:00 AM) her: because it's pointing to a frame name
(2:45:04 AM) her: which would be in the file
(2:45:43 AM) her: gotoAndStop ("6/1"); means there's a frame labelled 6/1
(2:45:56 AM) her: which is in the existing file
(2:46:32 AM) me: someone also posted this

(2:47:32 AM) me: so would that be a frame for each number?
(2:47:37 AM) her: well
(2:47:44 AM) her: it's saying gotoAndStop for each frame
(2:47:46 AM) her: which means
(2:47:54 AM) her: go to the frame with the labelled date
(2:48:01 AM) her: in the swf file
(2:48:19 AM) her: seriously, there's probably a way to grab the swf and manipulate the frames

I have absolutely no idea what she just said. But I'm passing it along anyway. :lol

So it's going to be 4 countdowns in a row? I hate marketing practices this gen :/. I miss the time when you'd log on and then something incredible would be announced.

Now we have leaks, and teasers and obscure websites.

Okay so here was my winding thought process which basically brings me back to square one after I wind around a bit.

There's no way that's an S. It's a 5. If it was going to be an S, they would have made sure it didn't look like a 5 because we all know what 5 means...

So I was thinking, if it's going to be MGS5, then it is in fact, Metal Gear SOLID 5. This means that we're getting another game with Solid Snake. I thought that this would be a sequel in terms of story because obviously 5 comes after 4, but I thought it would be ridiculous to make the story go further after the events of MGS4, especially because of the crazy lengths Kojima went through to tie up the loose ends of the series. Then I remembered that even though MGS3 came after 2, it was a prequel, so a prequel is still possible for MGS5. And if it's starring Snake, not Raiden, that limits where the game can take place in terms of story. Perhaps we'll play on the Big Shell through the perspective of Snake this time, perhaps we'll see what happens between MGS2 and 4, or maybe something else.

I ranted about this to my sister and she said that no matter who the star of the game is, it's going to be called Metal Gear Solid. I told her she was crazy and that if it were Raiden it would be Metal Gear Raiden, but then I remembered that it was Metal Gear Solid 2 when we played the majority of the game as Raiden, and we also have Metal Gear Solid 3 where we play as Big Boss and Solid Snake isn't even born yet.

So basically the conclusion I came to was that anything could happen. *high five*

Reminds me alot of MGS3 and we didn't play any Solid Snake in that game. This is probably MGS5 with Big Boss again.

That'd be really cool considering that all the incarnations of the Spartans were trained at stealth too but it's a pipe dream.

Well
the ending of 4 removes any possibility of playing as Big Boss
. But then I realized that you might be talking about a 'sequel' to MGS3 and portable Ops, which could be interesting, but probably isn't going to happen. I think Kojima is going to move away from the Big Boss/Patriots story.

I'm talking about a game after MGS4, a sequal to MGS3 which would be a prequal to the other games just like MGS3 was. :)

Yeah, I don’t think it would happen. However, I do think that Konami may want to test out a new franchise on the much easier to develop for 360 platform, kinda like Capcom did with dead rising and Lost Planet. If it worked out then they could always port to the PS3. Or they could set the bar a little lower and go multi-plat right off the bat.

It doesn't make sense to announce a new exclusive game for the PS3 right now.

Wait it makes sense for them to alienate the PS3 fanbase which MGS4 sold a crap ton on. At this point the only thing that makes sense is multiplatform PS360 or Wii.

That is simply the code for the timer. The actual files relating to the "weather conditions" are seperate from the original frame. cloudy: http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/img/eae.swf and lightning http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/img/eah.swf

The next file will be http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/img/ebb.swf and naturally is a 404 right now. You'd almost think they knew what they were doing.

Well, that would be MGS Portable Ops, and I don't think there are any other missions we could play as Big Boss. Even a The Boss game would be more likely.

Why does that even matter? KojiPro already has an engine running on the PS3.

Is this URL interesting at all? Went hunting through my Firefox cache.

http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/nex...999&lmt04=99999999999999&lmt05=99999999999999

I took it and changed it all to this:
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/nex...000&lmt04=20090530100000&lmt05=20090601100000

to follow the first two countdowns' format

Then when I changed it to this (0522100000 to 0522000000) the countdown went down by 10 hours. Still getting the 5 though.

Not at all since MGS and their other PS titles would still be released on the PS family first. Thats why I said a new franchise.

Checked out the last page you linked (great work) there's a Metal Gear font 5 that flashes at 50% transparency on lightning cues... I think we can safely say this is Metal Gear Raiden.

That's already been there since today. Nothing new.

Even so, I'd rather we had a Big Boss game than Raiden.

Why does the title still say "..Reveal in 3 days", have I missed something? :s
27 pages later and people still make-up whacky theroies.

It's clearly a "5" and the lightning/sun most likely means Raiden/Sunny. Seems, by far, the most likely situation.

Because it was initially thought that it was going to be revealed last Friday. And then that changed to today. And nothing has happened.

It neither looks exactly like an S or a 5. Kojima is fucking with our heads.

Expect this to be nothing like what people think it is.
