Post Your Gaming Setup: 2009 Edition

I love the minimalistic ones. I just feel sorry for people with shelves and shelves full of stuff. I hope you never have to deal with packing it all up and moving at some point.

It still blows my mind that some of you here are sporting $4,000 plus TV's with awesome surround sound equiptment yet there are wires and cords showing all over the place. HIDE YOUR WIRES. Its worth the the time and hassle trust me.

What would make this post actually helpful is to give them some tips or links to help them accomplish this task, if they even care in the first place.

Basically using cable ties (black) to keep all the cables together:

cableties.gif

Or even better, those plastic things that come with the cables for consoles, TVs, etc.. and use them to keep the cables together.

Then keeping all the cables hidden behind the TV stand, and if they don't have, get one or build some 'doors' or a mini wall for the wires.

It isn't really that hard.

Okay, so you're drowning in dough. I hate you :lol

Cool house, it's plain to see you have good taste (plus, wooden floors ftw! there's nothing I hate more than carpeted floors... which from I can see are the norm in the US. Over here -Spain- I have yet to see a single house with carpeted floors)

What's the temperature over there at the moment? :p

I just got married and had to do just that. 500+ boxed Atari games, 400+ boxed NES games plus 25 years of consoles and etc. translates into a lot of extra hauling. My room of doom is now gone, but at least everythign is packed away safely.

(except the Vectrex, that one stays out in the open)

I like the minimalistic style, and the controlled use of colors. The sofas look really comfy.

Well, I've been collecting hospital stuff for years, and that's why the living room looks like that. I've got two other wheelchairs, but there's no room for them. And those gas masks are in the hall, not the bathroom.
So you have a house full of hospital and hazmat items?

Homesick? Does somebody miss the mental ward?

I will post my setup when my dad come back with the photocamera :)

Anyways i have a poor setup xD 26" Panasonic, 360, Wii, PS2, GBA, DS Lite and PSP-3000.

Thanks. I've been tempted by TV deals off and on, but this is my first HDTV, had it for three years now, still looks great to me, and just feel compelled to ride it out until it breaks.

I really like these threads. I just moved to a new apartment in the summer so I might get out the camera and post a few shots when i get home.

Chittagong's photos are great.

Hospital room is creepy as fuck.

Lumber is getting delivered to my new house as we speak (which is currently just a foundation) but I will have pictures up of the set up asap.

Chittagong, that lamp is dope. Well worth the coin.

It's actually not as bad as you think. I've had to move it a few times and the great thing about games is they're fairly uniform in size so they're super easy to pack into a bunch of boxes and really when you do that, they condense down very well so it only is a few boxes to move it all. No problem or pain at all.

The minimalistic ones always look so awesome. Too bad it's simply too impractical for me. :-/

On the other note, if anyone is interested in the arcade cabinet Marty has, I'm thinking of selling mine and games and other accessories. It's exact same one with 2 stools. I'm in SF Bay Area, prefer local pickup. If you are interested, PM me to discuss details.

I like Chitta's setup but something like that wouldn't survive the dozens of nieces and nephews I have. :lol

Shitty cam, shitty lighting, but whatever, lol.

Forgive the mess -- I've sort of given up trying to keep cords tidy and things neat since this tends to be the hangout spot and its gets wrecked every other night anyway.

The TV looks so much smaller in the photos than it does to me in this room...lol.

It's a rather droll attempt at trolling Wii. The 360 hooked up to the hoop-D television and the low-fi setup.

Bah.

I interpreted it as less of a troll and more of a callback to Gahdiddy's basement Nintendo shrine setup from way back when (check the archive).

And hopefully by the new year I'll be upstairs playing on this 52" Bravia:

No internet up there yet and the internet is shitty enough here in Aus so I don't fancy playing via Wi-fi.

Wow, your wall can actually hold the 52" Bravia? I'd never dare to try, unless I had a concrete wall. Which you don't seem to have, since I'm not seeing any cables.

So like I said in the OP I just bought a 3 Bed, 3 Bath Condo and have been working really hard to make it into something I can be proud of. It was a foreclosed home and was basically a wreck when I got it. Here's the progress so far, let me know what you think! If you have any suggestions please feel free to chime in!

How come you didn't run any wiring before putting up the drywall?

(And since you asked in the OP, it'd be simple to drill two holes (top and bottom), throw some conduit in there, and run your cables through, then patch it up with a drywall kit)

Didn't know I'd be putting built-in shelves there at the time. :-/

Thanks, I had a contractor at the time, but now any changes I'll have to do myself. What you describe doesn't sound too complicated, I might give it a shot.

I agree. He should apologize for not having an inch of dust on everything and crap everywhere like most other Gaffers.

Sorry for low-quality cell-phone pics.

25673hw.jpg

DVDs on the left, Games and systems on the right. Wii and PSOne games underneath. Consoles are all nicely tucked away in glass-enclosed shelves to keep the dust off of them when not in use.

And yes, I am aware my walls are bare, I need some fake plants (Cats destroyed my real ones) and a few pictures. I'd post a picture of my true geek-den (Office), but it's an utter mess and I haven't had a chance to hang anything since moving in.

I just bought the 52" hdtv. There's an xbox there but it sits behind the tv.

I keep all my media in my bookcase in the other room. Looks like it's time to add another one.

Top shelf was mounted above the TV, but the wall couldn't carry the weight :/ It was a mess when it felt down on the TV - fortunately nothing happend to the TV (the consoles were elsewhere at the time).

Wont be buying a new TV furniture before I move.

PS3. I use this as my main media, hub, streaming video from the computer, playing DVD, BDs

Monoprice HMDI switch (I only have two cables in the back of my TV. one HDMI, one power. phew)

Sphere-X 5.1 audio system. Xbox branded setup with interesting oblong speakers. great sound for a reasonable price.

Scientific Atlanta 8300HD cable box PVR.

You can also check out the 24" iMac/ GAF station in the corner.

I absolute love this one. Did you have someone come in to paint that or is that applied like some kind of wallpaper/decal? Anyways, very stylish. I'll post my gaming setup in a moment, I was hoping to wait until I rebuy my Wii (sold to get rid of my VC games I don't play and I'm just waiting until Wii has a new bundle/deal) and bought a couple more games but I'll just update once that's done.
