I saw that "lol" emoticon and I don't like it. It's not right making fun of xbox fans implying that Lost Odyssey will be the best looking game of the show. I simply won't accept making fun of them just because they're a little insecure nowadays... and make some crazy ass predictions... and take articles out of context... and troll.

I was actually serious. I didn't mean that to come across that way. The reason the lol emoticon was there was because this was a PS3 thread.


I think LO will be the best looking game of the show, along with MGS 4.

Yeah, there are just too many polys in that model for it to be real time and too much AA. Looks like one of those Gears of War pics that were "real time" but this one has more polys than those supposed "REAL TIme" GEARS pictures.`

But were you around here at GAF when FFXIII was first seen? Did you see the "It's got to be CGI" arguements? That was a great thread.

Well, if no one wants to put Playable in this thread title then it's anybody's game, really. I mean, there's no denying that the FFXIII and MGS4 footage looks incredible, but I don't know that the most impressive looking title at TGS will be coming from PS3. It's more impressive to be able to play graphics like that. But yeah, I'm sure the prettiest game will be one of those because what's stopping them?

On the second or third page of that thread, someone (forget who) makes several comparison pics. There is no question. That's the in-game model. No doubt that is a cutscene, though.

Indeed, 60fps too, iirc, and that small vid hides some of the most impressive details such as the realistic t-shirt and pant animation or the individual eye-lashes.

I would LOVE for this to be real time - this game is one of my top 5 most anticipated - but someone posted a bunch of caps from the trailer a while ago (forgot which thread, some console war BS one) and they showed a very different and much less detailed model than the one in your post. =\

I remember the trailer, and I'm not letting the GUI of the combat system fool me, but parts of it do look real time because of the inconsistancies in the modeling of the girl. Some parts are a little blocky which leads me to believe real time...

Yeah, the trailer didn't look like that.......I can't tell, I need a super dooper high res version of the trailer to make that statement.




As of now, I'm convinced that some of the assets of the trailer and the real game are the same (the jungle environment is clearly real time, I think I saw a 2D cross texture in there), but the rest of it....not so sure

That's because the shots from the trailer are actually GAMEPLAY shots, while this one is from a real-time cutscene (inference, but perfectly logical). If you doubt the massive difference this can make, go check out some screens of FFX or FFXII cutscene vs. gameplay. What it isn't, clearly, is the CGI model.

You're just being obtuse. The picture I originally posted has the hair and face of the bottom pictures, not the top (CGI). The hair is so much nicer and more uniform in the CGI.

It's real time as its part of the train sequence. The fact that we're even having this discussion just shows you how impressive their engine is.

that's CG dude from the same pic you posted later....

noticed her hair in the bottom shots and compare that to the hair in the pic Im quoting it's pretty easy to see what's CG and what isnt
