Prediction time: Best looking PS3 game at TGS 06

dirtmonkey37 said:
Yeah, I think I said, "I think LO will look better in game"

If I didn't, then that's what I meant

There's a difference. I'm basing my comments off demo impressions of Che Chou and the other guy.

All I have for FFXIII is a trailer which no one from SE has made press release on and no one has played.

NO ONE HAS PLAYED FFXIII except for the people working on it.

So you trust an employee who works for MS instead of coming to your conclusions?

err... a little off-topic.

is Atlus going to be at TGS? they been awfully quiet about their next-gen plans.

I believe that this trailer is real time in the same way the tekken demo and the FFVIII demo at (I forget the E3) E3 2000 was. That was real time right? Yeah, no tekken game looked as good as it did...

You do know that Tekken 5 looks waaaaay better than that demo? Right?

This is my last post. I have to make a freaking "coin" program.

Parts of that trailer are real time. I'm glad they are because that's great.

Other parts, especially the some of the photos are CG and/or touched up in game models (or the original models which they scaled down for the game).

However, despite the fact that they're real time and are running within the game's unfinished engine, I don't think they're a good representation of what the game will look like when your way to get Ifrit from a master summoner and whatnot.

The game will look great, but not like the trailer. And if it does, that's great, but I won't be playing it until half past 2008 (which rhymes).

My second last post:

Can't remember. When you see something for the first time, you lose track of it. If it does, my mistake, I was just trying to make a point that this "real time" doesn't seem like....yeah.

My mistake. Please forgive me.

No it doesn't :lol

You should find some pics of the Tekken 6 demo...

No he's talking about the original Tekken demo NAMCO showed for the PS2. He's saying no Tekken looked as good as that.

He's talking about the Tekken demo for the PS2 in 1999/2000 I thought.

This is just so addicting

NO, I trust a journalist (what was his name, Tom?) and another journalist who, until a few months ago, was working for the ziff davis network.

Don't go. Quote what he said plz.

Yay, PS3 rules, I love PS3.

Yay. Killzone is real time.

Nothing will change my opinion that FFXIII trailer is not an accurate representation of what it's like to actually play the game.

You're thinking Tim Rogers AKA the worst human being on the planet. Heres my problem with what you're saying, you think LO will look better than FFXIII because a MS employee and a retarded blogger says LO looks great. On the other hand you have actual realtime footage of FFXIII and you are going out of your way to say it won't look impressive. Why do you trust 2 other people over your own eyes?

Where's the quote? I want my quote.

Oh shit he brought up the PS2 demos.

I really didn't mean to bring those up. I was trying to make a point, but even I think that FFX (real time cutscenes) look better than the FFVIII demo

I really didn't mean to bring those up, they just popped out. FFX is an amazing graphical feat IMO.

You know the same thing that MGS4 is doing is what FFXIII is doing right? Both were real-time assets.

The guy who wrote that article analzying his demo time with LO. Look on GAF. I gotta go make my program and do some spanish.

Tim Rodgers?

Wait, wait, that quote?

"The question is, are people willing to buy an unpopular system to have a chance to own this game? Hironobu Sakaguchi's gall is legendary -- he is pitting this game and Blue Dragon, on Xbox 360, against Final Fantasy XIII on PlayStation 3. When Blue Dragon launches, Xbox 360 will only cost around the equivalent of $250 in Japan. What Microsoft needs at Tokyo Game Show is a game to stand against everything on the PlayStation 3, and swat each game down one at a time. They need something that people can look at, and say, "That looks really good."

Not that quote, but it's in the same editorial

I know.

I just think MGS4's real time assets are more.....real time. Just from the framerate drops alone, I can tell you why I think MGS4 is real time (not in game, not that we know of).

However, there's no hitch in that FFXIII trailer.

I don't know. I'm confusing myself. I thought I made myself clear.\

The FFXIII video presentation doesn't seem to be an accurate representation of what the final game's going to look like while I think the MGS4 real time demo, is close to what MGS 4 will look like in 1080p, 30fps.

What do you want me to say????

In that article he talks more about art and design and less about graphics. Except that brief quote xbox fans took out of context he never says that LO will be one of the best looking games of the show, let alone the best looking.

...I see this thread turned retarded.

me too. It's all because of me.

I'm sorry for bringing LO. I was just joking. I was just saying that those pics I saw in Famitsu were amazing looking. And I thought they looked better than FFXIII.

I'm not allowed to think that though. I'm sorry (this is the only sarcastic line in this post)

Anyways, I apologize, and you can go about talking about what this thread was meant to be talked about.

After Killzone, I'm just a pessimist.

My final opinion: When both MGS4 and FFXIII hit store shelves, MGS 4 will look better when you're playing it.

as long as you're feeling apologetic, can you stop putting several lines of white space between your brief paragraphs?

I'm sincerely sorry about that. I didn't mean to impair anyone's reading abilitiy through my odd spacing.

I'm just in a rush to do my work.

i guess that's a "no." as far as this "playable vs. cutscene" business goes, keep in mind that turn-based rpgs aren't very meaningfully interactive -- anything you see in combat is just a canned animation triggered by a menu choice. if the ff13 demo is in fact realtime, integrating those visuals with ff gameplay shouldn't be a massive hurdle. mgs4, actually, will have a much harder time replicating the visual impact of its cutscenes.

But FFXIII will look like that when you are playing it. It's apart of the game when you hit a special move. Sorta like Heavenly Sword.

Context sensitive commands? Yes.

It's entirely possible. I said some of the parts of the trailer look real time to me, but cutscene real time seems more plausible, instead of "in game" real time. Context sensitive commands....maybe. I can see where you're going with this.
