HS looks awesome.

i edited your post. I didn't think that was a good represenation of the game...:D

I sorta agree with SSX, Heavenly Sword is amazing. If the large scale battles replicate those graphics and detail aswell, how can anything compete? :D

Biohazard 5
FF XIII
Chrono Trigger II
Daytona III
Earthbound IV
Grand Theft Auto: Iraq
Zelda Link to the Past II
Defender II

Those are my picks.

Those metal shaders, or what I assume are shaders, are awesome. This is what next gen should bring to the table, amazing new effects, animation and physics. Not bumped polycounts, textures and resolution.

Killzone, I'm going to guess that Sony will show a short teaser featuring real time graphics. It'll surprise all of us and will arguably have the best graphics we've seen on a console to date. That'd be nice, we'll see.

^ no, if they show Killzone, GAF will have a meltdown about downgrade total etc.

Heavenly Sword... is sony giving them alot of talented graphics designers or what

I guarantee they aren't showing it before both Liberation and Resistance are out. E3 next year at the earliest

I think we will all be surprised about Heavely Sword come TGS.
I posted this a while back but I suppose its worth mentioning again...

Kinda OT but I was on irc with nao the other day, and he was talking to another member on the team commenting on a image on the screen and he goes "hey nice render!", and the guy replies.. "thats not a render, thats our game" :lol
if you didnt already know, nao is a programmer on the HS team, ninja theory. :D

I wonder if what nAo saw was the same stuff that the Sony prophet saw.
I suppose we will never know, but what we do know is that Heavenly Sword should be at TGS in 4 days. :)

Will this game really look like this?

Code:
GOD. DAMN.

Yes. But mostly in cutscenes and in battles where you push a certain button to activate a certain move. They (Squarenix) said that they are going for a FFVII the movie approach with the battles in FFXIII.

If you seen the FFVII CGI movie then you will understand. They want the moves that you do in the game feel like the moves that they did in that movie.

Well what stands out is the modeling, lighting, and especially-awesome texture maps. Combine those together and you'll get alot of subtly cool effects that present an overall, striking image.

I just wanted to toss in a little side point about another thing going in FFXIII favor for the graphical crown is that kojima said that he is focusing on more than making a visual showcase out MGS4, but to have different things happening that you don't see. So for MGS4 I expect more complex A.I and Phsyics, distructable environments etc, than say a FFXIII which really does'nt need alot going on under the hood relatively speaking. That Leaves RSX and CELL to mainly pump out awesome graphics.

That's my take anyhow I could be wrong:/

dirtmonkey37 your going to TGS? Lucky bastard!:D I expect a full report when you get back.

MGS4 should be fine

New location for TGS
hopefully
. :P

I'm going something like this..

1. MGS4
2. FFXIII
3. DMC4
4. Assasins Creed (Why no mentions of this? Is it expected to be there? Not expected to look good?)
5. Heavenly Sword

Since it isn't an exclusive anymore nobody seems to care. We also haven't seen one realtime video of Assassin's Creed yet so I'm still waiting to be blown away by the "gorgeous" animation.

O_O nice. what day does famitsu come out again, i forget. is it wednesdays?

Yep. Ryan and Ken haven't updated the US podcast since June and Kojima has been updating his less and less recently so they seem to be working hard on what they'll be showing.

Weren't the backroom impressions very very positive though on the game's visuals?

yeah seems everyone is quite hard at work these days. theres a bunch of games im wondering how they are looking lately, but mgs4 is definately one of the top of that list.

hope we get scans ASAP when the mag arrives, complete with full translations. ;)

Truthfully, I don't remember. The only things I recall were people loving the animation, interaction with the gameworld, and saying it had some framerate issues. I'm sure it will look fine I'd just like to see it with my own eyes.

The US Killzone producer said they would wait with Killzone PS3 info until after the launch of Killzone Liberation so I think it's a low chance we will see it there.

Hopefully one of those nine secret games will be a true OMG.
OMG. Who's the man!? WHO'S THE MAAN!!? *teen voice cracks*

I think we can deduce many of the unannounced playable games.

The announced playables are:

Railfan
Devil May Cry 4
Fatal Inertia
Blade Storm: Hundred Years War
Mahjong Taikai
Coded Arms: Assault
The Eye of Judgement
Warhawk
Gran Turismo-Series
Genji
Everybody's Golf 5
Formula 1
Heavenly Sword
MotorStorm
Lair
Resistance Fall of Man
Gundam
Ridge Racer 7
Armored Core 4

Which leaves 8 unannounced. But these are all candidates to be there:

Virtua Fighter 5 (definitely)
Virtua Tennis 3 (definitely)
Sega Golf Club (?)
Sonic The Hedgehog
Full Auto 2 (?)
Untold Legends (?)
Enchant Arms (?)

Which wouldn't leave much by way of never-before-seen titles.

Sony still hasn't shown Angel Rings which was one of the games announced back at TGS 05. That's the RPG by Sony Japan. Hopefully we'll get atleast a trailer there.

It's no fun being a poor gamer. All the three new consoles are tantalizing, and so is the PC and NDS :(

And GOD! The PS2 still has some ****ing great games coming to is as well...

Can't wait till TGS 06! Just 4 more days!

what's the detail on Wardevil? I've never heard of it before D:

Not a whole lot is known about it. But in their E3 press release they said they were still adding stuff to the engine and would be preparing for a Q3 2006 playable debut. TGS?

gofreak said:
Wardevil looks really great in stills, but its animation at E3 was terrible.
Who cares about animation when it looks like that OMG, best texturing evar! :P

I haven't actually seen a clip of it though.

CG studio making it (first game), PS3 exclusive, developed simultaneoulsy with a movie counterpart, IIRC.

I don't for one second believe a small British studio like Digi Guys can finance a project like WarDevil exclusively for the PS3. I don't see publisher letting them do that either.

For that reason I'm certain that WarDevil will be either second or first party. I can imagine SCEE making more second and third party aquisitions this gen. Tying themselves to small developers, emerging talent, just like Ninja Theory.

Another potential game that everyone seems to have overlooked is the next title from Sony Cambridge. I'm eager to see that they tackle next. Though pure speculation, could it be a next gen version of 24? I'm told it was good fun on the PS2 and I can imagine SONY sowing up that license for a few years/games yet.
