Wow, this looks like a painting :)

Yes it looks like a beautiful painting that someone put a sticker on.

I love the art style of the backgrounds.

And . . .

I love the art style of the character.

BUT . . .

They both totally don't mix in the same scene. I mean the character has an outline, but if you look in the game world, nothing else has an outline of anykind. It looks silly.

But if you made a game that was consistent with the character style that would be amazing. Or if you made a game that was consistant with the background art style that would also be amazing. But together looks silly.

Wow. Looks great.

I really hope they don't screw this up with all the repetitive, generic, crappy "open-world" pitfalls that lie in their path.
WW had a similar concept...you could choose out of I think three routes...that converged at a central place...and throughout the game each area changed depending on what time it was (past or present) ie. trees had grown etc...so the areas had different ways to get to the end.

I think WW was really clever. better story than TTT as well.

This is pretty common with any hand-drawn animated films. Backgrounds are painted in one style, foreground characters another. It's been done and has worked fine for a hundred years. Why is it all of a sudden a problem when this game does it?

That's why there shouldn't be any outlines on the character. It makes them stick out like a sore thumb. There's zero cohesiveness between the backdrops and the characters.
Yeah, I noticed that too. I'm fine with either style, but the character needs to match the environment.

Ubi just put a damn little option to enable/disable the outlines and everybody is gonna be happy.

PS: The game is looking gorgeous. It's kinda Wind waker-esque

but next-gen

It looks brilliant.

I actually thought warrior within and the two thrones were both prtty good, but neither of them matched the first. The two sequeals felt too similar to the first one, just not as good. I'm glad they've made it an open world because the prince of persia games needed to be changed. It looks and sounds very promising, so this could be as good or even better than sands of time. Hopefully,

If you delete those outlines everything becomes flat. I agree they could soften them a bit, but they're necessary.

Ubi Soft made the best looking and best animated game this gen with Assasins Creed. Im not surprised they are continuing to push the boundries in those areas

This coming out for PC as well? God please tell me yes. The open world gameplay raises red flags in my mind, as I didn't like that approach in Warrior Within.

Its been a while since I played Warrior within, but didnt the game take place in one location (the island of time)?

You guys really ought to wait for some footage before commenting on how out of place the character outlines look.

They only need something to whine about. They sound like the people complaining on GT5 Prologue graphics.

The black outline serves no purpose other than making the game look worse. And besides why is it only the characters have outlines but not the world around them?

Probably so the character stands out and the gamer can focus on the character (which would be important considering some of the angles the game will probably employ). Though, the game definitely would gel much better if the black lines are gone. With or without, the game is still absolutely beautiful.

this is going to kick so much ass. i bow so low for ubisoft and the dev team for doing such an obviously good job with this game thus far.

I was going to take 'shop out the outline too lol. Much better without it! Other than that, looks amazing, which is expected since it's an evolution of AC's engine, right? Never played the game but saw it running at a store and it was gorgeous.

The outline? Really?

People will bitch about anything, i guess.

It's not "bitching", at least for me. If they maintain, so be it... I simply think the game looks much better without it.

You guys keep showing the same screen when talking about the ouline, when all the other screens have thinner outline. Relax. Wait for the trailer;)

The Prince of Persia games are all about performing awesome acrobatics at a fluid pace. The outline is necessary for character emphasis, without it the platforming would be much harder because the player would have a difficult time focusing in on the character.

Like someone else previously said, most animated films have outlines surrounding the characters to make them stand out from the foreground, and this game is no different. Everyone saying the outlines need to be removed are dead wrong.

Oh, and congrats to any Ubi Montreal devs reading this thread. Your game is drop dead gorgeous.

I'm near drooling for these pics.

All this bitching about outlines is crazy, I'm sure it will look better for you guys in motion.

Out of the three, which do you think is the best? I'll probably end up getting only one.

Most people would say the first one, or maybe the third. No one likes the second game except me :/

in a world where everyone liked warrior within as much as you, no way would the new game look like it does. i will henceforth ritually thank god every evening that you stand alone on this issue.

Pretty damn sweet.

Too bad I don't buy much 3rd party games and especially Bugisoft games :/
What the hell. Ubisoft has made fantastic games regardless of their reputation on this board. The first PoP games were excellent, so what's stopping you?
