in a world where everyone liked warrior within as much as you, no way would the new game look like it does. i will henceforth ritually thank god every evening that you stand alone on this issue.

You should visit the official PoP Forums... Its full of WW followers and they want heavy rock music in this game... *sigh*

What the hell. Ubisoft has made fantastic games regardless of their reputation on this board. The first PoP games were excellent, so what's stopping you?

Yeah Sands of Time was the best game from Ubisoft. Everything else... looks great beforehand but never delivers. Asscreed :(

But I don't want to derail the thread or anything. If this hit's good reviews and a good word from forums, I might try it.

Looks omg amazing. This coupled with Mirror's Edge = devs finally getting it? Now this is next-gen.

Don't mind the outline, could be a little thinner I guess, but whatever really

I sure hope so. Siren also gave more hope in that department.

There, it's thinner. No?

No, multiplatform.

Now that's what I call a nice character model. The gameplay better be on par with the looks :D

I hope Ubisoft will put the E3 demo on PSN and XBL. I would absolutely love to get a taste of this game before it releases, I doubt they will though.

Game looks amazing. I think it would lose some of its charm if it didn't have the character outlines.
Agreed. It's all well and good for a still image but in motion I can see myself zoning out losing track of the character.

Either the prince got a facial upgrade or this is a completely different character. I think the outline is fine. My problem is the background, which looks kind of hazy and blurry. Maybe it'd be better if it has the same intense color as the characters?

It is a different character, it's not related in any way to the past PoP trilogy story. It's a new one.

Must everything be open world? Don't they realize that the tight platforming and amazing acrobatics are what made Sands of Time so timeless (no pun intended, I swear)?

You know, maybe they can pull it off. But I'm seeing my guy traverse the same places over and over fighting the same guys that pop out of swirly purple clouds over and over again. I kind of with they'd do a SotC and pull out the enemies all together and make the entire thing about discovering.

Screens look good though. I'm impressed by the scale.

Look guys, I hate the music as much as the next guy... but I love the environments and the gameplay twist at the end :)

It's open as stated before: Different zones connected to each other by different paths. Once in a zone, it plays like past-PoP games platforming-wise.

It is open world in the sense that there is no "stage 1, stage 2, stage 3". Let's say you kill the boss shown here early in the game, he releases his traps in the whole world, raising the difficulty level as a result. If you kill him last, his traps would be released last, and instead the traps of the first boss you killed you have been released first. That's one example stated already.

IGN, needs to clarify things before telling the public... There was huge problem with their statements about The Two Thrones that led to a lot of confusion back then about the night and day thing... Now they are doing the same thing again with the new PoP game. :|

It appears the outline is 1 pixel thick in every shot. When the character is closer it appears thinner in relation to the character, and vice versa. In normal drawn animation a character who's far away would have a proportionally thin outline, but I don't think that's possible with the rendering method they use.

You guys keep showing the same screen when talking about the ouline, when all the other screens have thinner outline. Relax. Wait for the trailer;)

And:

wtf is this awesomeness?

Oh, please, 3 pages on the same damn screen. I bet my right arm you wont even see it when it's moving.

How could they bitch about the screen with a too thick outline if they showed the screens with thinner outlines?
Don't try to ruin it all please.

So basically what I remembered from the GS video interview (first page, edited post after reading the preview) was right ?

IGN sucks :(

This game is so beautiful, I'll need to buy it just to look at it.

It's going to PC too supporting 360 pad right? That's how I'd like to enjoy this game.

What we see in our brief teaser is, according to Mattes, a "microscopic fraction" of the game's content (indeed, a sneaky glance at one of the monitors on the team's floor reveals a stunning-looking Mario Galaxy-style stage with the Prince scampering all over massive, rotating platforms in the sky).

Bursting with imagination and potential, Prince of Persia is surely up there with the most promising titles currently in development. One can only wonder how close the team will get to meeting its wild aspirations in the final analysis, but you can't help but admire the ambition.

Want.

Indeed! Reading the preview it seems like POP is following the same development schedule of Assassin's Creed one year later. This E3 there will be only an hands off demo according to the preview (Eurogamer has been demoed the PS3 version), there won't be a public demo and they hope they won't miss holyday 2008, all fingers crossed because imo it will be outstanding.

I hope they show the PS3 port instead of hiding it away like little bitches.

Hmm they also confirm that there won't be a demo. Pretty lame. This game will have to have an insane, unanimous praise for me to consider buying without testing it out.

Might as well be, am I right?

Has anybody from the Prince of Persia team gone on record to say that the PS3 version will not be inferior to the 360 version, in light of the fact that all Ubisoft games are?

They'll keep the outline so that you don't lose the character in the larger scenes, maybe the gamers on GAF don't need the outline but it's there for the more casual gamers.

Eurogamer said the game was only demonstrated on PS3 for them. Of course they also say "the code is clearly unfinished at this stage, with numerous bugs evident and a frame-rate that plunges dramatically in places" which sounds scarily like what I normally expect Ubisoft games' finished code to be like.

Maybe it's there because it looks fucking awesome! All the previous PoP's didn't have cell shading going on, but the Prince was distinguishable from the environments around him. Same goes for, well, pretty much every game without character outlines. It's a stylistic choice, I don't think they added it to appeal to casual gamers.

I just hope the 1v1 combat works for the whole game.
Yeah, this is pretty much my only concern at this point. I'm impressed with everything else, though. Another GOTY contender right here. Can't wait for the gameplay trailer tonight. I really want to see this in motion.

I'm really liking what I see. Emphasis on intense 1-on-1 combat, as opposed to the 'vault-hit-stab-repeat' enemy slogs in SoT, great art style, an interesting look at an AI companion, freedom of advancement... it's shaping up to be awesome. I'm getting SotC and Okami vibes from this on top of great Sands of Time style platforming, and that's the best mix ever.

Of course, Ubi did this to me before with Assassin's Creed, and while it delivered everything it promised, it wasn't half the game I thought it would be. This is a harder model to screw up than that was, but I don't want to throw away all my reservations just yet.

Well put, same here.

My 2 cents... like the look of the outline and graphic novel feel. Will be watching this one now.

Aside from the first Prince of Persia(Which I thought was excellent) I passed on the other two but it
looks like I am coming back for this game. The art style is so good and the landscape in that shot
reminds me of dark cloud a little.

Getting a definite ICO vibe here.

I get a POP:SOT vibe which is a good thing, some of the screenshots (esp the magic ones) look awesome.
I hope there is some sort of coop in there so the game will have a reason to be replayed.

So how many hours until the gameplay trailer is revealed ?

You know, time zones and stuff...

Gameplay trailer is at or around 9 EST. Since I'm posting this at 11:15, that means that it's about 9 hours and 45 minutes away.

Considering I'm not going to be getting home until around then, I need to figure out whether I should watch that first, or try the Too Human demo instead.
