Luminol, I think, is the one reason this album doesn't hit me quite as hard. It's an astoundingly good song, perhaps the best or even 2nd best on the album, but I heard it tons before the album came out. I was listening to a really well recorded bootleg for a long while, and then the live dvd/album came out with it on, so I listened to that, too. By the time I was able to listen to it on the album it was so familiar that it meant much less of the album was fresh and new. That's like 1/6 or more of the entire album play time right there!
I kind of think especially with an EP coming out later my opinion on Raven might closely parallel my opinion of FOABP. It's an amazing album when I'm listening to it, but it kind of gets lost because of the releases SW's had around it, and because it just had a bit less memorability because of less quantity. If the EP had been part of FOABP it would have been astoundingly high ranked for me, and I'm guessing this'll probably be similar. Another parallel I suppose is like what I said with Luminol. With FOABP I had been listening over and over to bootlegs of it played live. I like the studio version of Luminol just as much, though, unlike FOABP where I strongly prefer it live.
