Project Gotham Racing Trademark has been renewed.

Hold on, has it been nearly 6 years since PGR4?. If thats the case, wouldn't this be a standard "affidavit of use" that they would have to file to keep registration going?

DAY 1.
incoming gif always posted in PGR threads.

They aren't owned by MS so they can work with who they like. Maybe MS has contracted out the game with them? There has been previous MS job postings in the past about liasioning with 3rd parties.
Looking at PGR appreciation thread, there is a belief they are working alongside Rare and another studio. Rare has been hiring Codemaster guys recently

Oh god please no. I love the PGR series, I dont want Rare or any ex-codermasters anywhere near this.

This is brilliant news. Who are we assuming is on developer duties? Lucid games as suggested previously or perhaps a joint venture between Lucid and RARE?

This is one way to make me want a 720.
They're just gonna cash in on nostalgia but I don't expect any new PGR game to be good.

Also, I've only played Metropolis Street Racing and PGR 2, how are the other games in the series?
PGR3 is bleh and PGR4 is pretty damn good.

PGR2>PGR4>PGR3>PGR1

No way is PGR1 the worse.

PGR3 was a step down from PGR2 it felt like a lot of the game was stripped down.

PGR without Bizarre is no PGR to me. The series is dead as far as I am concerned. Whilst Playground have made a great Forza game, there is something about Bizarre games that feels that you are under control.

RIP Bizarre and PGR.

Research into Lucid... or for that matter read the posts in this thread.

I just hope the PGR formula isn't changed too much. I mean, there's been a heap of games lately where the urge to 'modernise' a series has resulted in a shitty product.

Finally :D im ready for 5

I had such good memories with project 3 when it launched with the 360, I hope 5 can launch with the new system.

Do it Xbox

Aren't Lucid games rumoured to be developing? A number of Bizarre developers formed the studio after Activision made one of the worst decision possible and shut them down.

my guess is rare (they hired a ton of people from codemasters that worked on the dirt/grid franchise) and lucid games (ex bizarre) are working together on pgr 5 (maybe playground helps a little bit).

So I totally think MS is doing a new PGR, but trademark renewals rarely mean anything. If you let it expire, you get in all sorts of probs.

Look at Square renewing the Chrono trademark every so often and stabbing us all in the heart.

Am I the only one to think that gifs glorifying PR spokepersons are the most embarrassing thing ?

Anyway, good news, PGR is pretty much my favorite racing franchise.

Same for me. I usually don't like racing games (Gran Turismo and Forza are boring in my opinion), so why is PGR so fun?

All their leads are gone

PGR leads and studio founders Martyn Chudley (and his wife Sarah) and Gareth Wilson are at Sumo Digital.

Ged Talbot, the third lead on PGR joined Evolution

The rest of the BC staff was divided between at least 7 studios.

TheOddOne says that 20+ ex-BC are working at Lucid, but Bizarre Creations was made up of about 200 people.

Can't you see why people aren't excited?

While this is not enough for me to get the next MS Console considering I'll be there for the PS4 I really do hope there's a new PGR game coming and I hope it can truly deliver the amount of awesomeness I expect.

Couldn't Turn 10 be working on it? The have supposedly about 300 people and Greenawalt was a designer in PGR1.

No. T10 are busy with FM. Lucid seem to be the ones handling PGR.

I still think its going to be a DD title rather than a retail release.

PGR 5 and BLUR 2 would HAVE to be on the nextbox for me to buy it. 16 players multiplayer minimum. 1080p @ 30 fps will be fine, but give us 4xAA.

I'm happy for this hope, but Microsoft will have to work to get my purchase/money

PGR4 was just an amazing experience. As much as PGR5 would be potentially awesome, I am already in bed with Drive Club.

Every time the possibility of PGR5 seems to hit a road block, it comes back fighting.

I still don't have any idea who's really making this game. I'm starting to think T10, Playground, and Lucid will all collectively work on annual racing titles. In this case maybe it's engine, art, design, respectively. It would be a smart way to go about doing things.
