Would it be wrong to assume this movie will be rated R?

Yes. It's PG-13, at least for its theatrical run.
I don't see how it is them 'sucking ass', if you can sell it to less people, you have to make it for less. They can always release an R cut at a later date this way, they can't release a higher budget version of the film had they done it the other way.how many decades now has 20th Century Fox sucked ass?
You know damn well Ridley Scott's preferred cut will not be PG-13.![]()

That's very true, and something I hadn't really realized. I also got through the Anthology docs in the past month for the first time; the Prometheus interior does more closely match the style of Ron Cobb's detailed concepts than the final film Alien did.
My sole complaint is that if he had to compromise and do PG-13, he could at least have given us practical model effects rather than CG for the spaceship.
Exterior, of course. Are you talking about the interior or exterior?

I presume you mean for articulated elements of the model, rather than the entire thing being in movement?I like practical models, but only when static. Movement is practically always considerably 'off' in various respects.
I dunno. I actually think CG backgrounds to model effects is the perfect modern thing.I love practical ships, but they make little sense now when the rest of the shot is cg anyway
I was referring to the former, but I think the latter is frequently true also, that can be very well done, especially when the movement is slow. Large, slow tracking space ships etc, look great, but the faster stuff always looks off to me.I presume you mean for articulated elements of the model, rather than the entire thing being in movement?

Yep, very reminiscent of this:

Very true, I just watched it yesterday, very good. Blade Runner and 2001 also did it excellently, but I think people trip up when they attempt things a little more 'cutting'. In Aliens for example, at the end of act three when the ship is crashing around, bumping into the base as it's being blown up. Every time it moves, the illusion is pretty much broken for me.watching Alien on Bluray recently and I was absolutely floored by the craft landing/taking off on LV-426. Even something simple like part of the landing gear and just crushing it under the weight of the craft. Practical model was great, felt real, fantastic lighting/smoke effects. Absolutely amazing what that design team pulled off.
Sure the ship landing on the moon looks ok but the shot of it entering the atmosphere looks super cheap and outdated.

Especially as they couldn't do the ship FX "properly" due to time/money constraints. The shots of the ship moving through space were accomplished by putting the model on a vehicle covered in black fabric and moving it against the background, using camera angles to hide this. You don't notice it at all while watching the film.
What's this from? I want to say I've seen it, but most of me just thinks it looks awesome.
http://weyland-yutaniarchives.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/alien-unsealien-unseen-part-one-updated.htmlThe Egg Silo:
Originally, The eggs were not inside the Derelict but in a pyramid type structure known as the 'Egg Silo'. The dead Space Jockey etches a triangle shape on a dashboard. The crew explore further and pick up on another structure. They climb the side of the structure to the top, once at the top, they enter a small room where they discover a hole that leads inside. Kane is then lowered down inside. This was designed by HR Giger and RidleyGramed but Budget Restrictions forced Ridley to abandon the scene and move the eggs inside the Derelict.

could correspond to the top of the temple we see in Prometheus:

Has anyone claimed for the OT rights for this yet? I've not been this hyped for a movie for a long time and would love to make the OT if nobody else is desperate to do it.
It is, unfortunately, one of those things that once you notice you can't not-notice.I also loved that Ridley Scott used his kids in wide shots to make the scale of the sets that much bigger. It was really effective, especially in the Space Jockey scene.

OTs should NEVER be posted more than a week out from release. That goes for games, movies, TV shows, whatever. And be to the fucking point. I want some quick info, not something that looks like the work of a studio plant.
I think there are many that would like to do an OT. I'd say first in, best dress. Go and do it, but do it right and don't make it a mess of clutter. I did always prefer the practice of waiting till a month beforehand/when the first impressions hit.
Otherwise you'd have people making OT's for TDKR now and Lincoln now etc etc.
Sorry Sculli and Expendable.OTs should NEVER be posted more than a week out from release. That goes for games, movies, TV shows, whatever. And be to the fucking point. I want some quick info, not something that looks like the work of a studio plant.
dude, you are the only person would make a lincoln ot right now.
This image makes me think of Alien where Ripley keeps them outside the airlock.

Bingo.
I still remember that awful Inglourious Basterds OT with links you couldn't find in the collage. Lulz.
Now THAT, Plainview, is how you do an OP. I'm still partial to Rottenwatch than this whole OT business myself. But I like this thread already.
Predators and now Toy Story? Sam, you're stealing DP's thunder![]()
I was curious and checked my thread creation history. 2 things surprised me. First, of some 40,000 posts I have (ugh), I've only created 85 threads. Second, I've only ever done 2 OTs.
- The Departed in 2006; and
- Spider-Man 3 in 2007
Looks like I was 7 days and 9 days before release. So I'm not too much of a hypocrite![]()
Gimme dat link, Sam!
I generally only do OTs for movies I'm really interested in. They're too much of a waste of time, otherwise.
Years already? It could be another eight years before that thread opens. The hype for a banner ten years in development will be eruptive.I can reveal that for years I've had a Battle Angel Hype Thread mockup banner ready.
