Protesters Surround KKK Gathering In Charlottesville

Crossing Eden

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
Despite urging from the city's mayor to ignore the racist group, about 1,000 people showed up to protest a few dozen members of the Ku Klux Klan who gathered in Charlottesville, Va. Saturday.

Klan members had called for a rally to oppose the city's plans to remove a statue of Robert E. Lee, the Confederate general. About 30 to 50 Klan members were escorted by police to and from the city's Justice Park.

But counter protesters surrounded and largely drowned out the small group of Klan members.

Source. And Good! Genuinely fuck the KKK.

Losers.

I see cops are still looking out for their own.

I'm confused, why would the KKK be upset about a confederate monument being taken down if racism had nothing to do with the civil war?

Is the statute near the ground? Protestors should have toppled the statute in front of the klan members there

As the article says, these groups are merging with one another. Expect something worst than what you saw with Trump's rhetoric in 2020, something more like Duke, and while they wouldn't win they'll settle into the political scene and won't go away any time soon.

I just remembered that one of the bigger grocery store chains here in Finland was called "KKK-Supermarket". It obviously didn't have anything to do with the clan but as time went on it was changed to "K-Supermarket". I never did find out what the "K" even stands for.

The KKK seriously gets a police escort? What the fuck.

If anyone still needed proof that the rules are different for racist white people.

Ferguson protesters got LRADs, tear gas, rubber bullets, armored vehicles, and laser sighted sniper rifles aimed at them.

And that is why my attitude is fuck the cops forever.

KKK gets police escorts, racial justice activists get bullets, tear gas, tasers and pepper spray.

Here's the thing with Not All Cops...

Those that don't stand by those that do.

Tear down the Blue Wall of silence and then we can talk.

those same people in hoods being teachers/doctors/judges/lawyers effecting poc :(

More likely they're all a bunch of unemployed fucking losers.

Not trying to minimize your point, of course. There are plenty of racist assholes in those positions as well, but I doubt it's them that are out there, unmasked, with the Klan.

Maybe people will stop saying things like that if cops stop being scumbags to minorities.

Maybe people should stop grouping all cops together.

On topic, I like that the people came out and protested and it seemed to have worked. The Nazi's went home in less than an hour. Cant say I see the point in people trying to stop them from leaving, when the whole point of protesting them is to minimise there voice and make them leave.

They group themselves together with the Blue Wall of Silence

Or you know, police should fix their own system that stop protecting bad cops and punishing ones who want to do good.

I agree Police should be held accountable for there actions, I just dont see the point in grouping all Police together because it further adds to the us vs them mentality.

Do you have any evidence that not saying mean things about cops leads to police reform?

For minorities, especially black folk it is us vs them and the Police absolutely act like black folk are "them"

And again they don't keep themselves honest, the good ones cover for the bad ones, there is a Blue Wall of Silence, in New York almost the entire force literally turned their back on the mayor.

It's systemic from the chief down to the beat.

-United we stand
-We all bleed blue
-Never rat on your fellow cop
-Sometimes there's justice, sometimes there's just us
-Blue Lives Matter
They do a pretty good job themselves. If they can do it, why can't we?
Do you think people would view cops this way if cops didn't perpetuate it themselves?

Also, LOFuckingL at the people who don't think the klan has infiltrated law enforcement.

K.

How many police-run organizations have called for, enacted, or supported reforms? Being a good cop don't mean shit if you're willing to go to bat for a bad cop. Its called being a damn enabler.

I agree that cops not speaking out is a major issue but there have been cops who have reported other cops and this has resulted in career suicide but more importantly harrassment by other cops, not being able to rely on backup in the future. Essentially the good cops are punished for doing the right thing which is fucked up. The way I look at it is, there are cops who want to speak out but they are afraid, by people just demonising all cops it further adds to the us vs them. I really dont see the benefit in demonising all cops.

Maybe I just look at the world in a too idealistic way.

You're clearly not idealistic enough. Ban the classist, racist police force.
