I expect an ad during super bowl.... if not then SONY FAILS!
At 4 million dollars per commercial, and sony admitting that they're losing money left and right, I'm not sure if we'll see a SB commercial for the Vita tonight.

I don't get the people buying the FE bundle and not wanting all the items that comes with it. Is losing anywhere from $25 to $40 worth having it seven days earlier?
Where do you live? In the city I can spend $25 without even realizing it. Parking, toll, lunch, boom money is gone.

Finally acceptance. Good guy I was a bit nervous. Hi everyone. :D Pretty new here, but I've been stalking this thread a bit and I have a question. After a couple of days of having the FEB in my cart, I've decided to go with the wifi version since it frees up a bit more money (I was in the 500s which is something I really don't want to spend and I only had LD due to the bundle) and I'll be able to spend a little more on games.

My question is, would it be better to just get the 32gb instead of the 16 that I'm currently considering. I plan to get several PSP games and a few Vita games (not into Uncharted since the only thing I currently have is a dying DS Lite :/) since they're probably a WHOLE lot cheaper--or at least that's what I'm thinking.

Originally, I was going to go with the ancient GBA since i wanted to just have something to play and take on the go, but after seeing the Vita... It's the only thing I really want now and I've had a few systems over the years--only to sell to Gamestop again and AGAIN.

It comes down to how much you plan on getting via DD.

PSP games range between 300MB and 800B with most being around 500MB+.
(There are exceptions in both directions, but those are infrequent. Especially 800MB+.)

The biggest Vita game right now is the EU version of Golden Abyss with around 2.7GB IIRC and I think that's going to be the very upper end this generation for a single game.

Got my hands on a Vita at Gamestop yesterday.

I was surprised by how light it was initially. Seeing how much stuff they crammed into it, I expected it to be as hefty as a PSP Phat, but it was closer in weight to the Slim.

Pros

- The screen is big and bright...can't wait to see what movies/Netflix looks like on it. My iPhone 4 does fine with this, but I always feel cramped watching TV/Movies with it.

- They had basically every demo that I would want to try out, from Wipeout, Uncharted, Gravity Rush, and Hot Shots. I really liked all of them. Uncharted looked great despite some slight aliasing, Gravity Rush looks like a lot of fun, and Wipeout looks beautiful...dat load time! I was surprised to see that Little Deviants was just a bunch of mini games. Not sure what I was expecting, but something different than that.

- The UI is really slick. My wife is not a gamer in the slightest and knew exactly what to do with the UI when she saw it. Can't ask for much more than that.

Cons

- The right stick feels a little bit too close the to face buttons...particularly the X button. This is something I will probably get used to.

- I felt unsure of where to put the back of my hands because of the rear touch panel. Again, this is probably something I'll grow accustomed to, especially when I get to hold the system without it being tethered to a display.

So overall, I'm pretty excited for the 22nd. Seeing and playing the system for myself left me wanting it even more.

Hm. Alright. Thanks for answering, bandresen. I'll check out which games I want and probably try to find out the megabyte or gigabyte size.

Is this thread really dying? That's a shame. :( I've been getting quite a bit of information from here.

I got to try out Starstrike Delta, Blazblue and Patapon 2 (PSP) on my friend's Vita yesterday, and he showed me Ragnarok, I was quite impressed with the hardware as well as the games' quality (Vita and even PSP emulation), and I like how you can have different wallpapers for each section of the OS frontend. I wish (non-jailbroken) iOS could do that. =/

I'd buy the Vita right away if I weren't saving up for an iPad. But Gravity Daze is making that all the more harder. =/

What's the deal with loadtimes? Seen people complaining about Wipeout and FIFA. Someone said they're better with carts -- anyone know? I presume these store models have carts so that's kinda scary.
They're terrible even with carts. At least Wipeout is, since FIFA isn't out yet.

I was reading that article from wololo on the HBL....I just wonder why he knows which game had the home brew loophole in it but Sony hasn't figured it out yet, makes it sound like a really obscure little hole. I'm guessing he's waiting for the 22nd to reveal the exploit even though a lot of people will have theirs on the 15th, too bad it'll be patched out in no time.

It depend on how, any games he intend to keep with him at all times in his memory card. Even at 32gb, it's not gonna last the whole generation if he always put all games on mem card. 16gb card can easily store 8-10 games at a time. That should be enough for most people

Do you guys think it is worth selling my psp in order to upgrade to the 350 version? i already have the 250 version paid off with credit. Or if i do sell it just use it towards games... I really see no point in having it once i get the Vita.

If there are PSP games you want to play that are not currently on the store then I can see the appeal (however I'm sure more will be added). If not then why keep it if you are not going to use it and don't just collect stuff?

i have played every psp game i have possible wanted. Thats what i was thinking but the only benefit about getting the 350 version is getting a week early, is that really worth an extra 2-3 more games?

Just trade it in and keep the value for more games later or a PSN voucher or something. Because you're buying Super Stardust Delta and Escape Plan...right?

Is there a list of PSP games that aren't available on the store to play on Vita?
No, the bes you can do is look on the list of Japanese games and see what doesn't pop up that you care about. I think everything I have over PSN is there that's had a Japanese release but Brave Story, and since that's not on PSN period now (maybe never was in Japan) that could well still run.

Do you think I could still pre-order the 3g Vita that comes out on the 15th next weekend(2-11)? Is there a deadline?

I'm pretty sure SSD is $10 and Escape Plan is $15 from the Best Buy leak the other day.
thats not bad at all, just trying to decide what games i want to get one day one. I have uncharted, hot shots, and modnations already paid off with credit. Thinking about those two PSN games plus wipeout, lumines, and maybe Army corps (still need to learn more about the game and see some reviews). I might get Rayman if i can get it cheaper since i have it on PS3 already

Alright thanks. I'm looking over the list on Wikipedia and it's got it sorted by region. No idea if it's up to date.

I've played neither of those games but I've seen them mentioned a fair few times.

Does anyone know if they're on PSN by any chance??
G-Police is available on PSN, Colony Wars is not I believe.

G-Police is a mix between.. Wing Commander and Blade Runner (setting).. it has tons of atmosphere, although being so ambitious it might not have aged that well. The PS1 version played great but it was plagued by very limited draw distance. Excellent and unique game though! I'm still shocked this series wasn't revisited in the PS2 or PS3 era. Shocked.

Colony Wars are pretty great Wing Commander clones.. I only played the third one however, which wasn't exactly the best of the series.

These games are best played on PSP if you ask me, the smaller screen and pixel density make the graphics work a little better compared to being upscaled on a HDTV.

Didn't see this posted:

Vita will get a new FW-Update at 8th february, which will add Video-Support for the camera-app and add a new map-app.
Also the content manager will get a mac version.

Nice, some cool little features in time for western release. I figured the firmware update would only have changed Playstation Network to Sony Entertainment Network.

A map app? Man, depending on how that works that really could push me to get a 3G bundle at launch afterall.

Finally took the plunge on the Amazon deal with the 8GB and VT for £15. All of the games I'm looking at currently are physical copies so I don't have a massive initial need for the larger cards - I'll just pick up a bigger one down the line.

So I checked on the status of my Hori Screen Protector and Amazon has totally dropped the ball. It originally had the shipping date as 2/7/12, but now it is 2/22 and you can't get release date shipping. I'm getting the First Edition and will now be without a screen protector. Does anyone know if any stores will be selling them on 2/15?

Anyone know if these are any good?

I might get that in the interim until the Hori ships.

Welcome to GAF!

AFAIK there has been no announcement for Tiger Woods, but I'm sure when the next version is released, the Vita version will be announced as well.

For me, I want NHL on the go. In the worst way.

Some questions..

-Is there a US deal that gives a free 8GB card or price discount, similar to what Europe gets?
-Is the Sony screen protector really that bad compared to the Hori one?
-Can I download EUR PSN Purchases on my Vita, and play them from my US account?
-USB charging works by default?
