PS3 Firmware 3.10 details

I just had my whole friends list not load. I had no friends at all. :lol Thankfully, shutting it off and turning it back on fixed that issue for now.

Hmmmmmm, the controller sync issue is getting mighty tedious.

I thought mine was resolved, but it did it again tonite. After browsing the official Sony boards, here is how i got mine back again tonite. Supposedly this works everytime until Sony fixes the issue...

My PS3 is a Slim, but i doubt that it matters...

With system in standby mode:

1)Connect USB cable to controller, and connect other end to PS3
2)Turn on PS3 using the power button on the system

WAIT UNTIL PS3 IS BOOTED ALL THE WAY INTO XMB

3)Hit PS button on controller to turn it on
4)Log into XMB and wait for all the icons, etc...to load
5)Unplug cable from controller, and it should be fine.

This worked perfect for me tonite...for those of you with issues, give it a shot.

not sure if any of these are directly 3.10 related, but i haven't noticed them until now:

-browser freezing. only happens with flash video... so far.

-my controller randomly decides not to automatically turn off when idle. i have it set to 10 minutes (i would prefer more options with time, but that's another issue) and sometimes i will come back in my bedroom and it's off, sometimes it's still on- WELL after 10 minutes.

-my network sharing thing keeps randomly quitting on me. i have a nice wireless N router and all my settings are good to go. just sometimes disconnects from my media server. (a quad core pc in the next room that's connected to the router with a cable)

other than that it's been fine. GoW2 plays great, but i haven't tried GoW1.

i thought i was going crazy!!!! Mine has also started that since 3.10, one point it will turn off fine, another i'll come back in an hour and its still on.

I also have the controller issue.

I am able to turn on the system with the controller, but once it has booted, it asks me to press the PS button; and when I do I just get all four lights blinking endlessly.

I have attempted a few of the fixes, and like everyone else, it only works for a few startups; then back to endlessly blinking.

Did people with slims not have this problem pre-3.1, then had it once the update hit? I jut got my slim this past Fri. and I want to make sure I don't have a bad system. Thanks.

I've been pressing the console power button and then pressing the button on the controller after reaching the XMB routine and it seems to be working so far, it's the only fix that makes some kind of sense if it's something during startup that's screwing up the bluetooth if you power on with the controller.

Most of these other elaborate "fixes" sound like utter nonsense anyway guys don't waste your time.

So this is the last firmware of the year?
I want my wireless back :(

How do I get the PS3 to update my facebook page with trophy info? I had it loged in on the PS3 under account managment and set trophy update to yes and I just got a trophy but it hasn't updated facebook with a post or anything. I'm trying to sync my trophies but can't at the mo' keep getting erros. Do I need to sync so it will update facebook?

Yeah, I think a sync pushes them to FB. When it lets you do that without errors they should show up on your feed.

When you sync, it will post the trophies to Facebook but only 10 at a time so if you got more than 10 it will make two posts.

Yes, I didn't synced since some time ago.
Just after I installed this firmware, I tried to sync the Trophies (I didn't synched since some days before it). After like 6 or 7 attempts, I was able to do it. And in this moment appeared a couple of notifications of a couple of trophies I achieved recently.
I have an old 60GB BC PAL SKU, and didn't have any problem with the controller.

Has firmware 3.10 been pulled?

I have a couple of mates trying to update their PS3 (using the PS3's update function) and they keep getting a message saying they have the latest firmware available - 3.01

I even sent them to direct download web links to load the firmware via USB stick, but they get the same 3.01 message?

It's not framerate stuttering. The game literally pauses for half a second. And no it didn't happen before. It's not a big deal, but it happens. Another issue for me is that Assassin's Creed 2 takes longer to load now. What used to take 15-20 seconds now takes 40. These stupid mandatory updates bring more problems than solutions most of the time as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe the pausing/stuttering issue with Spec Ops in MW2 is similar to the GOW3 demo problems? Also seems UC2 takes a shit load longer to load recently...

I think I tried these steps and it didn't work until I pressed the reset button on the back of the controller (before doing step #1).

Just my 2 cents in case people are still having problems.

It does seem like it's taking longer to load. I really hate these mandatory updates.

I really wish I didn't update my firmware. It's like the only thing this new firmware update introduced were bugs. I keep getting signed out of PSN over and over and over. Very annoying.

That's hardly firmware related.

BTW, my house heating system isn't working properly since 3.10.

I'm getting the Trophy sync error a lot. Always takes 5-10 attempts. I haven't had a single controller sync problem at all (Launch PAL 60gb PS3, DualShock3) but I do seem to keep getting signed out of PSN at random.

I haven't been able to sync my trophies at all since this update. I've tried opening up all the ports required for PSN.. Connected via ethernet. Don't know what else to try.

I got mine to work through sheer repetition. I wouldn't fiddle with your routers settings too much if online gaming and voice chat works and trophies have synced in the past. I'm sure it'll be a temporary problem. Have you checked playstation.com to see if it has been partially syncing in the background?

Also, do it over wireless and watch the Wi-Fi and HDD lights flash. If they're flashing then it is syncing, even if just a bit at a time.

Mine as well, oddly enough. Other than that, I haven't had any issues. Trophy syncing take a bit longer, but I just hammer on the X button for a bit and it speeds back up.
