I'm actually glad I haven't started it up yet after reading about those save file issues. I saw comments from one guy mentioning that his 40 hour save file was corrupted by that issue.

I don't care about peopl running CFW. If there are cool features they can add that they'd like (things like region support for Blu rays/PS2 games, etc) then fine, but don't use it unlock features that allow tampering with other peoples enjoyment, like we're seeing with the poor sods that play MW2 for "fun".

Not cool custom firmware people, have your fun and play Mario Bros. 2. Don't mess with other peoples fun.

As others have said, this will prevent CFWers (if only temporarily) from going online. It's at least a step toward placating licensees and shutting down MP cheaters.

I support CFW, but I also support moves to keep CFW users off PSN.

Hmm, first time I've ever had problems downloading a firmware update - keep getting download errors about 20% into the download. And I don't see it available on the JP/US/UK PlayStation websites yet, so can't install it via storage media either. =/

That doesn't work. People have pointed out that every one of their saves corrupt if this happens to one of your saves. Even the backed up saves are screwed.
