PS4 Black Friday Deals Revealed

Not everyone is interested in those games. One of them is digital with no resell value, as well. So the bundle value is highly dependent on whether you intended to buy both bundled games at full retail price.

Why does it have no resell value? Surely you can sell the PSN code.

Their current online bundle gives you good opions, so they should be good.

You're right - I just checked, has pretty much the biggest games of the year as options. I'd probably add AC Unity (despite the problems, hopefully the patches will fix it) and maybe Shadows of Mordor... not sure.

Now you see this is how you do bundles for the holidays: 1 for the mature audience (GTAV+TLOU) and 1 for families (Lego+LBP3). Sony has both major consumer markets covered by offering games that appeal to them. I'd imagine GTAV, especially, is going to drive a lot of sales.

When you look at MS both bundles appeal to the mature market (AC and MCC). There is no family centric bundle. Even if they are cheaper discerning parents are far more likely to buy a bundle with kid friendly games than ones with Assassin in their name. Couple that with the horrible word of mouth those games are getting its not hard to see that bundle underperforming in comparison. MCC bundle is their golden ticket bundle but that too is mired by some seriously negative word of mouth that has sapped a lot of the excitement for it.

In short a new more expensive actually limited bundle on a more desirable console with more desirable games for both major market moving demographics is sure to draw more attention and therefore more purchases come Black Friday. Having a family bundle with LBP3 and a hardcore bundle with GTA is just an incredibly smart move on Sony's part. The only question now is does Sony have the stock available to support the sales.

I can't tell if people are joking here. It's two of the top 5 games of the last 8 years included for free.
I guess people are expecting Sony to react to Microsoft and undercut them or something. They don't have to since they are leading. It's best IMO to keep the console at $399 as long as possible then do a price cut when its absolutely necessary so it has the biggest impact.

Sony Brack Friday Bunduru

LOL

I really think people are underestimating GTAV. Don't forget that it's one of the biggest selling games ever and they've put an incredible amount of work into the remaster. Get a few ads on TV and YouTube showing the improved visuals and FPS mode an I think it will do insane numbers. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that this remaster will outsell pretty much every other release this November, with the possible exception of COD. I reckon R* will clock up a good 10 million more sales on current-gen and PC. Having that bundled will work wonders for the PS4.

That's a dangerous game if you let the competition catch up with user base.

Fair enough. But why can't I buy a $300 PS4 without bundled games that I have to resell? Would certainly make my Bloodborne decision easier.

I mean, I know the answer. I'm just saying, for some people it's not the greatest deal ever.

As a parent, I think that second bundle is great. Good way to get the family (and Dad!) a console for Xmas.

Because they don't want to lower the damn price! It's Psych 101. They don't want to advertise "The PS4 now $299" and then have all the idiots of the world expect a $299 PS4 the day after BF.

Also Sony does not pay $60 for the games, so they are giving you the illusion of $120 of value at the cost of $40.

I feel like this stuff is obvious and people are pretending not to get it.

I don't understand the surprise/concern about there being any actual price cut on the PS4. It's not hard for people to spot that one bundle has the two most acclaimed games of 2013/14 as pack-ins. Remasters or not that previous fact cannot be denied. Sony has the marketing wrapped up hard for GTA, too, such that plenty of people assume it's exclusive to PS4. That sort of promotion/narrative works -really- well on parents. It's a bit depressing to admit but the average parent is probably willing to put down an extra $70 so their kid can play more GTA without hassle if that's what they asked for.

The XB1 AC bundle is an incredibly good deal, however. Like, wow. That's lower/more than I would ever thought to see 1 year in even in the most extreme of circumstances. Microsoft is playing to the wallet shoppers while Sony is appealing to the heart. Yeah, there's some overlap of consumers in there, but they should both sell like crazy.

I'm hoping something pops up "in the middle", too. This is either the M-rated extreme bundle of the E-rated obviously-aimed-at-kids edition. From what we've seen in other adverts some retailers are offering a bonus free game (or two?) on top of these. Check out the Wal-Mart flyer. You could go with the GTAV (I doubt your brother would complain) and yank LBP3 on top. That's what I'm hoping to find.
well, he wouldnt complain, but hes getting GTAV on PC so he can plan online with me lol. Thanks for the idea though, Ill need to look into it. Whatever im doing though im doing it online

Yah, probably. I won't be paying for the online component anyway, so it doesn't matter when I get to it.

The sentence "I mean, I know why," implies I knew why. They're taking a small loss on potential software sales but avoiding a large loss on hardware sales. It's standard practice for years now.

Again, the point is more that some people don't see it as an amazing deal. I only participated in the discussion as a counterbalance to overly negative reactions towards somewhat reasonable statements as such.

Just makes me realise how few ACTUAL next gen exclusives there are. If people want to play GTAV and TLoU, I am sure they can pick both up AND a PS3 for cheaper.

Most stupid bundle ever.

Maybe if they dont know what the new ones have/offer but if you know about the games and what the remasters offer, the PS4 bundle is the way to go.

Honestly I don't think much of those bundles. You've got a choice of a so-so platform series and 30fps Lego game (these ran at 60 on the PS2...), or a pack with two games which millions of people have already completed.

Bundling COD + PS+ + TLOU would have been a killer pack. Watching some GTAV streams today reminded me of how much I didn't really enjoy that game. It's simply not that good outside of the core story while TLOU at least says "we're Sony, this is what we can do".

Their are a fair few people who didn't buy GTA V on last gen consoles, me being one of them. I will be buying a copy of GTA V for my PS4 and a copy of TLOU even though i already own it on PS3.

Also, i suspect Rockstar/Sony will be heavily advertising the 1st person view in GTA V, which will give the impression of directors cut release, which will no doubt also help in pushing sales.

Ugh, dl codes for these games is so fucking dumb.

Especially if you are in Canada. These are 50gb games for fuck sakes. You'll be playing them in 2015 by the time it finishes downloading...

What kind of internet connection are you on? No problem with Videotron here.

The GTA 5 PS3 bundle is only $50 cheaper(on amazon) so why not go $50 more and get a much better experience with these games?

what? not sure if serious. I am from Toronto and have great download speed and I am not even paying that much.

Well, that's your opinion.

The fact that it sold gangbustas at launch and continues to sell very well every month post-launch shows that the larger gaming audience don't share your pov.

I don't get why they just didn't lower the price to friggin $349.99.

Surely it wouldn't have cost them more than including two free games.

Because they are selling extremely well already and this is one of Sonys divisions who is actually making money and not losing it.

I dont understand how people cant get this in their heads -_-

Because if X1 wins it will provide a narrative of hope to some delusional people that MS is turning things around, mounting the comeback of the century and stealing the generation away from Sony's evil grasp, who will subsequently go bankrupt and leave the console space forever. And if the X1 loses, it will provide a narrative to an equally delusional group of people that Xbox is done as a brand and MS will shortly be selling off or discontinuing its games division at the behest of its angry investors. There’s a lot on the line here man.

Indeed.
