PS4 firmware 4.50 add Boost Mode for PS4 Pro.

Lmaoooo, again, what is he "right" about exactly? He said Sony MIGHT include something we all knew was possible..That's not a prediction...

The world MIGHT end tomorrow...If it does, I didn't predict it lol...I just made a random statement that COULD happen with the qualifier of "might" to cover my ass if it doesn't happen

What about the dual GPU in the Pro? Or Scorpio being a 6tf fp16 GPU and less powerful than the pro? Or his uprendering nonsense? We don't acknowledge all the ridiculous Mr.X level drivel he spouts on a consistent basis?

you guys seriously need to just get over this

Colin literally said on numerous occasions that it was a bad move for Sony to make the PS4 Pro AND that it didn't serve any purpose. Not only was he proven wrong with the Q3 Sony financial numbers, but now his opinion looks even worse with this Beta.

His hold on reality is as tenuous as Trump's.

I haven't played the Nathan Drake Collection yet. Was there anything in the games that needed the Pro power or was it pretty rock solid as it was? If it wasn't, has anyone tried it yet?
I did a small test on the Train section that had drops to ~50 fps and now that same scene is solid 60.

Other than being factually incorrect, what's your point?
I think his point is you are showing an obsessive behavior that is, off-putting to say the least. You go on this nonsensical diatribe against someone who to my recollection never did anything to you.

Say he is entirely utterly wrong, then what? What does that change in your life?

You are borderline stalking him. It is gross.

I simply respond whenever I happen to stumble across some redonkulous claim..

Doesn't change anything in my life to point out that anyone is wrong or right about something, I post here in my spare time, and if he or anyone else makes some crazy claim in a thread I happen to be reading, and I feel inclined to respond, and possibly point out something I disagree with, I will..You finding it off putting has an equally minimal effect on my daily life

If I was running searches for his username, or posting in threads I have no interest in then you might have something

Like i said, obsessive behavior. And dude, you are always responding to onQ directly or making a derogatory comment about him indirectly.

This is one of your first comments in this thread after being concerened with people "hoping" boost mode will lead to 30 to 60fps jump. LOL. It seems you are obsessed with being right and onQ being wrong.
He has an obsession with being "right" and has some Nostradamus complex where he likes to pretend he predicts things are going to happen...

In reality he just makes random, vague statements, rarely based on any evidence whatsoever, and then gets to quote himself all over threads when he was "right."

In this case "boost mode" was something everyone knew was possible

Obsessive would imply I seek him out, which if you actually bothered to look you would find a very insignificant number of my posts are in anyway related to him...

But hey, don't let facts get in the way!

Edit: I certainly don't have any obsession with being right, I get things wrong all the time, that's how you learn..

so umm...did someone at sony really say that boost mode might not make it into the final release? stop trolling sony

It being in the beta does not guarantee it being in the final release. But I can't imagine the backlash they would get if they would remove it now. Only reason I could see them removing it for is if it breaks PS4s, or worse...

Have not seen anything that should suggest to them it's a bad idea...The positive reaction to it has been great, and there really isn't been any widespread outcry from people experiencing game breaking bugs...

I'm sure that issues have come up...But it seems like all major games function perfectly fine

I'm simply copying your comment. We have been through this before in a different thread, I've noticed it in other threads. You not only "correct" and call out where he is "wrong". You take it a step further into personal attacks. The funny one is trying to compare a mild-mannered onQ to MrX, an irrational fanboy hell bent on proving Microsoft has the most powerful console using his alter ego as an insider source who provides ridiculous information. That is not the attitude of someone who wants to correct someone, it is an attitude of someone who wants to be right using any means necessary including personal attacks.

I'm sorry, are you stalking me and following me to different threads...Weird...

That would be incredibly stupid if they did that. Pro users are ecstatic about it, and it's easily the most talked-about feature from the update. I actually had to go back and look over the patch notes again to see what else it brought besides external drive support - that's how much it dominated the conversation.

First I've read something like this, companies normally don't take out features from beta versions unless they cause widespread issues. Boost has been met with nothing but praise so far.

Would be a REALLY bizarre move if they don't leave it in the final FW.

Okay, both of you shut up. :P

Love that boost mode is a thing but I think it's being implemented in the OS completely incorrectly. Right now with 4.5 it is a simple on/off switch in the menu. That is fine should it function properly with every game but a few games crash with the feature enabled. Instead, it should allow you to choose the games which use the feature. That way we can then disable the feature for specific games and not have to keep turning it on and off should you be switching between a game that benefits from it and one that crashes with it. Additionally, it would be nice to have the option to turn on/off the feature from the options menu from the game tile.

This might be the feature that forces my hand to pick up a Pro. Will wait for more info from the community first but if it seems like a worthwhile feature, my next bigger gaming purchase will be a Pro.

Great idea. Would love this as well.

This sounds like a good idea.

Something like pressing the options button on a game to toggle boost on/off like you would check for updates, instead of something being buried deep in system settings.

Man, i gotta say that buying a 4k tv and a ps4 pro has been a great decision. Been playing Rachet & Clank, holy shit its fucking beautiful in HDR

Hopefully, they will include a tool to blacklist games that have issues with Boost Mode.

Scanning thread, but has anyone had any issues in boost mode?

Someone said Soma crashes, but it was clarified later that it runs just fine ..

so far seems like there's no case of a game messing up like missing textures, performance issues or frequent freezing/crashing because of Boost mode, which bodes very well.

Hey, dumb question but if I were to head out right now and buy a Pro, I couldn't just swap my current PS4's internal 2tb drive directly into the Pro's, could I? It would still need to be formatted? Or does the update that enables you to do this with external HDDs also allow you to do it with internal ones too?

It'll wipe the drive when you swap it. you'll need to do a backup to an external and then swap drives, install FW and restore the backup.

The beta is a way for them to see if it'll break any games.

If or when that happens to a game they'll be able to use the data/feedback from all the users who participated in the beta to see which games work and which don't.

If they want to put this in the next beta they can just patch it into the firmware for the games that break to not be affected by boost mode or something to that effect.

Scanning thread, but has anyone had any issues in boost mode?

I had an issue with Batman Arkham Knight where when I exited the game, the Pro promptly switched off without any warning.

BUT this could just be because the firmware is in beta, or it could be an issue with boost mode. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyone know why the buried the download section even more in this beta? Now you have to go to notifications, then press the options button, then select downloads

No clue, the new notification system is terrible. If you could clear notifications, I'd prefer the new system. As is though, without having the ability to get rid of the clutter, the new notification system sucks.

I've found that the PS4 Pro is a little less stable under the 4.5 beta - I have Boost on, but have had non Boost games crash - FFXV specifically, and I've had the screen black out for a few seconds. Also it once thought the external hard drive was disconnected while restoring from rest mode, but it found and repaired it after a reboot.

This is clearly very beta - but the experience of owning a PS4 Pro is enhanced by it.

Can you move games you already have installed on the internal drive to an external USB 3.0 HDD?

I have some games on my PS4 hard drive that I bought digitally and I would like to move it onto an external USB 3.0 drive but I don't want to have to re-download the entire game and it's DLC again.

I had all of this problems yesterday. Not sure what yo blame, considering this is still on beta.

I played a fair bit of Arkham Knight switching between boost on and off and that didn't happen to me so it may as you say just be a general beta os issue.
