Sending audio should be a flipable switch that could be disabled to allow for more controllers.Sending audio over i would guess?.
Even though it's a rarely used feature, doesn't mean it shouldn't be there. I'm actually a bit disappointed about this. A few of my friends usually have a couple of NHL gaming sessions a year that won't really be possible anymore.
I don't know why so many people are writing this off, it is something that affects lots of gamers, especially those who play sports and music games with friends.

No one cared about the limit on 360, no one will care about the limit on ps4, your talking 1% or lower.
No it does not. Nobody plays sports games with 8 players, nobody.I don't know why so many people are writing this off, it is something that affects lots of gamers, especially those who play sports and music games with friends.

Why did you quote him and dismiss everything he said. HE is SOMEONE, not NO ONE. He specifically mentioned music games. Rock Band 3 on PS3 did not get 5 player support because the Xbox was limited to 4 players. Harmonix didn't want to let one console have something over the other. Vocalists in a 5 player game were not scored as they were no longer a "player" once the player count went to 5.
It affected people. Just because something doesn't affect YOU, doesn't mean it affects "no one".
1% or lower is not "no one".
edit - to be fair, seeing who posted what you quoted, I wonder if agenda is involved in his opinion this time, but still. His point is valid.
This plus FIFA for Europeans could make a HUGE difference

I never saw anyone post about the 4 player limit on 360 being an issue mate ever anywhere.
Oh yeah. Forgot about that. I wonder if that will be an issue at all this gen though. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. Why did you quote him and dismiss everything he said. Sad,
3 vs 3 or 4 vs 4 FIFA and NHL are a big thing at work during lunch.
Will have to buy a copy for work and one for home.
Sony has a product for people who want to play with more than four friends. It's called the PS3.
This plus FIFA for Europeans could make a HUGE difference
PS3 had 7 and I can only think of 2 games that used more than 4.
I don't know if this was already mentioned but you can easily have more than 4 controller connections with Rock Band/Guitar Hero.
This plus FIFA for Europeans could make a HUGE difference
Not when it seems the fifa being free is limited to day one editions or did ms sort that out.
It was ever a thing at any point? Heck, PS1 and PS2 went an extra mile to make local 4 player MP difficult.I thought local multiplayer beyond 4P died last gen?
That first part is simply untrue (or exaggerated), see:When will you use more than 1? Local split-screen/couch co-op has been almost dead this gen and more than not will be dead next gen unless you are nintendo. Funny because game devs want to portray more social gaming through online play but got rid of local split-screen which is a more social aspect of gaming IMO. And what is up with most (non-cart) racers having no split-screen?
I would strongly argue that local co-op has enjoyed a renaissance this gen. Here, let me prove it:
Number of PS3 games with at least 2 player local co-op: 199 games.
Number of PSN games with at least 2 player local co-op: 149 games.
Number of 360 games with at least 2 player local co-op: 249 games.
Number of XBLA games with at least 2 player local co-op: 201 games.

See? There's a ton of co-op games available. I bet that's not only significantly more than last gen but also far more than the rose-tinted N64 days too.
If next gen has as many local co-op games as this gen I would be very, very happy. Unfortunately we're off to a bad start with Killzone dropping its splitscreen mode as far as we know. Killzone 3 was fantastic in splitscreen.
You don't think Europeans or anyone who enjoys FIFA will buy it unless it's free? I personally don't care for it but that game is huge globally.
Same here. No loss for me.I barely use 2 yet alone 8.
Did seven player local blow your mind this generation?

My couch only supports 4 players, too, so I'm fine with this.
When will you ever use eight controllers?
This just in: Free extra couch with XBONE Day-One edition.*
