Fortnite, PUBG and COD aren't bad games, on the contrary, they have enormous userbases and millions of people playing because, I assume there is something very good about them. I was asking you about your point though, about how they were "the same thing", when the experience of an online game is about as different as it can be from a single player, narrative driven games. It sounds to me that you can't explain your point because it's nonsensical.
Its because they have the same purpose. tell something. Some have better graphic and combat, while others convey their message via papers scattered around. For example, destiny and outriders have the single player campaign. Incase of destiny 2, you get players on your lobby. The same thing for the secret worlds. Both have good single player experience.

If you stopped other people getting in to your lobby, the experience acts as a single game. last time i played the secret world was great. It felt like i was playing single rpg game.

if they made it for game pass, maybe in the usa, and europe. but i doubt it will be a big in asia. those guys arent interested in western games that much.
No, even in Europe and USA, it will be very very very hard for them to beat Nintendo. It takes much more than throwing money here and there.

Those are absolutely completely different experiences. One is bolted on, incredibly simplified and would be better experienced in a book or a blog, while your anonymous player character is barely involved. The other one is a much more complexly told story conveyed via a visual medium that would lose a lot of its impact if told in another way.

Comparing the single player campaigns of Fortnite or Destiny to something like God of War or The Last of Us is a ridiculous proposition. MMO-lite games like Destiny are 100% about the multiplayer experience, and they have very little pretence of being something else.

Chat? Sony has only 7 billion in longterm debt.....

Microsoft has 55 billion in longterm debt.

Where did you get this ridiculous figure of 500 billion 'historical debt'? Which is not an item that appears on accounts.
From Yahoo finance Feb 2021 https://finance.yahoo.com/news/does-sonys-debt-look-140907512.html

"Shares of Sony (NYSE:SNE) moved higher by 28.16% in the past three months. Before we understand the importance of debt, let us look at how much debt Sony has.

Sony's Debt

Based on Sony's balance sheet as of June 15, 2017, long-term debt is at $681.46 billion and current debt is at $518.08 billion, amounting to $1.20 trillion in total debt. Adjusted for $960.14 billion in cash-equivalents, the company's net debt is at $239.40 billion."

Btw not to derail the graceful exchange of original ideas this thread has fostered but, if any of you are actually interested in Vetting any publicly traded company's financial checkout how to read their Balance sheet. I recommend Finviz, Yahoo Finance and Barcode for unpaid subscriptions. Free charts and some indicators of anyone here trades

1) I'm 34
2) I was with Sony since the PS1 days, with a short period of having a 360 in its final year. PS3 was my main.
3) I had a PS5 day 1 from pre orders. PS4 generation was amazing. PS5 let me down

Why can't you accept that people are seeing the moves MS are making and what they are offering and choosing to go over to XB as they feel Sony are really letting themselves down this gen?

It sounds like your the child here, trying to twist people's words and context to fit your blatant PS fanboyism.

PS This this now the second time you've made assumptions about my gaming habits, considering you have no idea what I've played in the past, my interest in past releases on original release or wherever the fuck ever else, I suggest you stop.
I call BS if you had PS3/4 early on and were completely satisfied. Especially the 4 since it WASN'T BC.

All those figures have been taken by an algorithm and put into an article......

Just use some basic logic..... the article says that Sony has 17.66 TRILLION dollars in assets.

Did you not read that and immediately think something was strange?

Also.... 681.46 Billion yen is equal to about 6.1 billion dollars....... so back in 2017, yes they did have about 6 billion in longterm debt and now have about 7....exactly as I said above.

The entire generation on PS4 was amazing. Nothing to do with backwards compat. I'm talking about THIS generation where backwards compat is quite a big deal.

Probably quoting the wrong post of yours, but just to give my two cents on gamepass. I have been subscribing on and off since April 2017 when I bought my x1x. I have yet to finish a single game. I think the quality has been lacking. Note that i havent finished a single PS+ freebie either. I was hoping BF6 would be a day one gamepass title but i guess they cant afford it with just 23 million monthly subs. Maybe 50 so in that respect, I agree, the future is bright.

Especially considering the fact that Bethesda and ID tech games are gonna go on there next year. I will definitely sub for Forza Horizon and Halo this year, but I dont see any reason to continue subbing until starfield comes out in late 2022. I think if they want to be the Netflix of gaming they need to have those big AAA experiences way more than just once or twice a year. Which means spending on big AAA third party games. Outriders and MLB are good gets, but I am talking RE8, Cybperunk or BF6 quality titles. 23 million monthly subs mean $230 million in revenue. they should be able to buy those games for that much.

And just to bring it back to Sony. Sony has released TLOU2, GoT, Demon Souls, Miles, Returnal and Ratchet in the span of 1 year since June of last year. I bought all of those games. Thats $400 vs $120 they wouldve gotten from me if they had a PS Gamepass. Right now, this thing makes sense for MS who are only able to produce 1-2 big AAA games a year. Horizon and Halo are their big AAA games. If people give them $120 for a year for gamepass vs buying them at full price for $120, MS breaks even.

Sony has an EMPTY next 7-8 months but then a flood of titles with Horizon, GoW, MLB and GT7 in the first half of 2022. Once again, it's $280 vs $120. $350 if they included Deathloop. It just doesnt make any financial sense for them to do gamepass right now. especially considering they would have to start paying publishers millions every month just to fill in the lineup.

That's fair enough. For myself GP isn't just about access to the big AAA exclusives though. Which while I agree are absolutely important, that's not the only reason why I sub on GP, as I have listed in my previous posts.

I had a PS5, I enjoyed Demon Souls and Spiderman MM, I guess just playing a few exclusives per a year versus what GP offers and its bright future just swung it for me. I absolutely can't wait to play XB exclusive games on GP day 1 like Hell Blade 2, Forza 5, Perfect Dark reboot etc, but until then GP has more than enough other quality titles to keep me more than busy enough.

I thought you were putting me on ignore. ;)

Nobody is insulting you, just your arguments, they are childish.

The thing is, you post this opinion on how you don't like the PS5, which is ok, fine, let's see why. You mention how this service is so great and so bright and how Sony betrayed you so much or something similar to that because for some reason BC is not available on it or it's terrible according to you and then how Sony isn't giving you games for free like MS or something with that spirit. Then you mention all of these old games that have been available on PS platforms for such a long time, which seems to me that you are just playing filler. These opinions are something that I would expect from an astroturfer or from a teenager Xbox kid that wants to show how his console is the best of the best.

Which made me curious, so I went once again to see the library, and still there isn't a single released game from MS from this gen so far, let alone a next gen only game. Then the rest of the library consists of old games, some VERY old games, B tier games and indie filler, with the actual interesting games starting to come many months, if not years, in the future. These hype E3 videos and articles always come regardless of their showing because youtube channels and websites want to make things seem more interesting than they actually are.

Anyway, about gamepass. I mean, if you are a lapsed gamer or have very limited income and like Gamepass because you can play a lot of old games, fair enough, that's very cool. I just don't understand the argument that Gamepass is such a great deal when any of these subscription services are of very limited value to hardcore gamers because we are the ones that are buying at release or close to release because hey, we are hyped about them.

I don't think you can compare it to what XsX offers with its 60 FPS Boost and Auto HDR. Again, I'm playing Alien Isolation at 60FPS. It was coded for 30. PS5 doesn't offer that automatic upgrade.

It doesn't have to be compared to the XSX. It's a nice bonus but what matters is the ability to even play the games and to play them well.

I remember when I had the PS3 with software emulation I ran into issues with BC. The PS5 doesn't appear to have that issue.

Just because it's easier to boost the FPS on Xbox doesn't mean the PS5s BC doesn't work well.

As a PS4 owner I look forward to playing my PS4 library on my PS5. Also some of my games are going to get an FPS boost which is nice.

Only thing I'm looking forward to when I get my PS5 is the ability to play first party titles in 4k/60fps.

So far God of War, Last of us 2, Days gone and Ghost of Tushima is running in 4k/60fps on PS5. Those are more than enough to keep me busy for a long time until proper next gen games hit.

Even if offered on PS Plus, won't download it. It feels like Clock Tower remaster from PS1.
Got nothing against the developers or game but it just doesn't grab me in any way. Do you have PS5 yet?

Since 21st of November (should've been day one 19th, but it's coming from the capital 1200km away and a weekend was in between).

It's much easier to buy one here, just pay upfront in-store, have your name and ID/phone number. Not much room for scalpers.

Nice.
In 2 month's I'll join you. Got my PS5 reserved for the August shipment to NZ. July shipment was already pre-sold out ages ago.
I love how you are now required to come into the store and reserve a console with a cash deposit of half the value and limit of 1 per customer. Fuck these scalpers man.

Yeah it's better late than never. Sony ME did start with similar preorders and all websites got crashed by bots, scalpers reselling their queue for up to $1800, then next day Sony just pulled the plug and cancelled all these preorders and only allowed in-store, full price upfront, cellphone number and name written down. Scalpers here are pretty amateurs compared to other parts of the world due to being crushed with this process. That's how I easily secured my PS5 day one.

Well, if some day Jimbo wants to throw money it won't be because they need to buy IPs. They have a ton of cool ones, like these, Gravity Rush, Ico, SotC, Parappa, Ape Scape... in addition to buy Kojipro, Housemarque, Bluepoint and so on they could buy some additional big and small studios or to make some extra 2nd party deals to milk some of their dormant IPs with potential for great sequels.

I grew up with the NES and Sega systems and have tried to own every major console since and i agree with your points
the ps4 was great but the ps5 has some big fat alarm bells even though we have had a couple of banging titles out in the first year it still doesn't mask over the fact that

  • The rest of this year looks barren as fuck and the stuff that was announced at the ps5 launch still doesn't have release dates or actual footage
  • The system software is still a hot mess and it still does not have basic functionality like folders or the ability to upgrade the internal storage which now most people are starting to run into issues with
  • The build quality of the console and controllers leaves alot to be desired (coil whine/stick drift and broken triggers)..both my ps5s have had these issues as have some of my friends that were lucky enough to get a ps5 and its not some isolated incident.

If there wasn't a pandemic and people were not going crazy for things to buy to keep them occupied at home i feel the above issues would be more front and centre but there are no shortages of fanboys that simply wave off the above
as a playstation/nintendo/pc and xbox gamer i look at all of them and i see the ps5 as the weakest link...i think the next 2-5 years are going to be very painful if your only gaming on the playstation console and i dont agree with stronger position than the ps4 at all
they should be growing and have many more studios working on content to match the other 2 and they should be looking at ways to be pro consumer instead of trying to extract money out of everyone with paid remasters and overpriced games...it may be stronger for sony but certainly not for gamers.

It's not an OS issue. It's a issue with 3d NAND flash during covid. Plans from companies like Samsung, ADATA, SABRENT all behind schedule. On top of then working with Direct storage API which still isn't available.

Not many super highspeed Pci 4.0 drives that exceed write raw speeds of 7gb/s.

Understand controllers are tied to CPU chipsets.

Sony will test these to make sure they give a equal experience. Remember PS5 6 priority lanes. Pc has like 2-4.

You have to understand how advance PS5 I/O solution is. Pc doesn't have custom chips that are dedicated for decompress/compressing and passing data.

Ok so that’s ONE thing you’re addressing out of many issues.

Also no, there are many SSDs on the market that are fast enough as per Cerny’s outlined speed requirements. Plenty of articles out there outlining ones that could potentially work due to their speed and build.

Sony is the one who’s behind. Not the SSD manufacturers. Sure there could be more and many are delayed. But it is not true that there aren’t ones that could potentially work on the market right now. Regardless they promised December 2020 during the reveal and COVID was in full effect at that time.

Makes sense. Sony did an incredible job making the PS5 appear 'cool' with the whole marketing campaign, the Travis Scott deal, 'PS5 secured' memes, etc. The fact that it launched with critically acclaimed titles like Astro, Miles Morales and Demon's Soul helps immensely too (i remember to took quite some time for the PS4 to begin getting major exclusives). Of course the console for Returnal and Ratchet Rift Apart in the first 6 months since launch too.

Jim Ryan made it clear that the PS4's best exclusives came out mostly in the second half of the gen, and he said he is trying to change that by including more big exclusives in the first half of the gen, and its clearly working out for them.

I know we want Sony to talk more these days and be more transparent with what's going on, similar to how Microsoft is actively engaging with their community, but the reality is, this whole 'say less, show more' strategy they have is working out tremendously for them.

Do you pay for PS Plus?

if so, you’re already paying for the Buffett. It’s just that you’re at the children’s Buffett, while GP has nearly entire menu on the table.
We both still have the option of the Steakhouse down the street. In fact, the Xbox Buffett gives some pretty good coupon discounts for the steakhouse down the street.
With GP, First you can try the Starfield, Forza, or Halo steak and if you like it, you get it at a cheaper price! :)

unless you’re not paying for PS Plus?

Nothing wrong with buffets, I love them as well. haha My point is, they are different things that cater to different people, I just don't get the argument like one philosophy is better than the other. There are pro's and con's to both. I have had PS+ since PS3, since like I said in the grand scheme of things, as a side hobby, it really isn't that expensive compared to other hobbies. Not an attack on GP or saying its useless, honestly its the only reason I am thinking of also picking up an XSX since its a small investment to get a taste of all the all the big hits in the ecosystem, unlike PS which I have had a huge library since being on PS+ since day one and been investing in it.

But yeah, Gamepass is more like the one at Planet Hollywood.
Just want to make clear I have nothing against buffets or GP! haha I actually think its a great option and glad MS is keeping Sony on their toes. I just dont like when a group of fanboys from either side fight over which is better. THEY ARE DIFFERENT philosophies that have their own pro's and con's and are different for each individual.

The quantity over quality so GP is trash argument that PS Fan Boys have is sheer desperation. It's hillarious.

I'll keep remembering that when I'm playing Forza Horizon 5, Starfield, MS Flight Simulator, Hades, and tons of others day 1 on GP.
I don't think the games are trash at all and again there are benefits to this strategy. My point is people should stop fighting and should accept each strategy will have their own pitfalls and benefits. I do not like the bot/ad/marketing argument that GP has ZERO downfalls, it will affect game design since even a trillion dollar company like MS answers to stockholders. Like the whole skin game in the new Halo is an example, not saying its for the better or worse with all the power ranger skins that the kids want, some people like that some don't, but that is still a change that had to happen because of MS philosophy and its not some charity that Uncle Phil is giving the kids to keep everyone happy.

I bought one of these just over 12 months ago ...still sitting in the box waiting for sony
since then the below has come down in price by $100 and there are a number of other different models so as per your point its not the manufactures issue

I would not be at all surprised they fucked up something with the design judging by the other hardware issues the xbox solution while expensive is much better and i have not had one issue taking the slot out and putting into another console...it just works

I call BS if you had PS3/4 early on and were completely satisfied. Especially the 4 since it WASN'T BC.
I'm sorry but you got it completely wrong, the PS4 was a great machine right from the get go, it never had any software drought, good games from day one (Killzone:SF is good, I'd say that Resogun and Battlefield IV are very good too).

So yes DAY ONE was good--there was never a drought, new games every single week since its release (the first summer of the xbone had many weeks with zero release).. and the rest is history. The PS4 is probably the top console I ever owned and I owned most consoles that ever existed in North-America.

The PS3 had a rough start, the first 18 to 24 months were pretty hard, the 360 was better at pretty much everything (except the RRoD issue)... AND it had more and better games, unless you count the backward compatibility with the PS2--which is what I used early in the gen.

gamers are right to question jimbo....if ps5 sold better than ps4, and if ps4 did not x-gen for 3 years, then why are you so inconsiderate to decide ps5 x-gen will only end after 2023. 🤷‍♀️
So help me understand.

Ps5 has demons souls, returnal, ratchet and clank, and Astro bots all next gen only titles. Xbox by the end of this year will have nothing but flight simulator as a next gen only title.

Sony also has yet to have an event to tease what their 2022 will really look like, and will likely have a couple of surprises for end of this year as well.

What are you questioning? If they have a title that they can realistically downscale to work on ps4 does it upset you more people get to play a great game? They, unlike the competition, have been more than willing to to go ps5 only for games that need it. So why should I think they are lying when they say horizon was mostly developed as a os4 title anyway? Why does it even matter if when it comes out this year it’ll be the best looking game on the new consoles anyway?

This is a hardcore gaming forum, people love to fight over their chosen console even over playing the actual games themselves! It's been like that since the golden Sega VS Nintendo era. Which I still remember very well!

As for the impact that GP will have on the gaming industry as a whole? I think it's way too early for that assessment. Give it a generation and then there will be much to discuss, I'm sure.

You sure you are posting the right pic? That wasn't available "over 12 months ago" and the MSRP is still $230 although it does go on sale regularly.

I'm seeing about 5 manufacturers on Newegg that meet the requirements.

And when was December 2020 promised? As I recall they said it be after launch but no exact time frame was given.

So you disagree with Sony success? lol
Living in reality should really be hard to you.
I literally said nothing of that.

I highlighted your words that I quoted, and that's what I commented about.

You made it sound like fanboys (like you, your own words) are skeptical but can't deny how good Sony are.

Like a Sony fanboy would ever talk bad about Sony. That's all I said.
That's not denying sony has success. What you are denying is that a fanboy wouldn't blindly follow their preferred brand.

Anyway, it was meant as harsh as you made it sound like.

Microsoft are still brewing. It's hard to deny that they were pretty bad for a good part of a decade. It's going to take just as long to come out of it.

Talking can only do so much. We need actual tangible results of great gaming experiences. If microsoft can get that right, than they could be in a very good position in 5-10 years where they are genuinely competing with playstation for marketshare.

My man i hope you're not out there making investment decisions without even understanding exchange rates 🤭

Well, the Serioes X/S game lineup currently is leaps and bounds better than the PS5’s but still……
If there is a current lineup bounds better is the PS5 one.

PS5 has exclusives like Demon's Souls, Morales, Sackboy, Astrobot, Returnal, Ratchet, Guilty Gear Strive or Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Series X|S instead as exclusive has an indie game made by a single guy where you control a hawk.

For the next year or so they have Kena, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo, Stray, Solar Ash, Little Devil Inside, Jett, Horizon, Forspoken, GoWR, Death Stranding Director's Cut or GT7 just to name a few, and they still have to make their summer event where very likely they will announce more stuff. MS instead barely will have Halo, Forza, the Flight Sim port and some timed exclusive indies.

My comment was more about even Sony fanboys that are used to how good delivery Sony do every year felt surprised but how great launch and post launch they did with PS5 in terms of games.

It is way better than the higher standard we Sony fans are used and expected.

It is truly being a bliss of generation... way more successful than PS4.
Sony did everything right but seems not enough for them because they even pushed higher than that.

It was stated in the Cerny tech outline speech. Yes I stated there weren’t many available but people in this thread are excusing Sony by saying there are NONE out there they meet the requirements.

I actually liked the PS4 launch and post launch better when it came to games.
