It makes you wonder with the majority of the people that are saying its silent if it really is? Like not intentionally misleading us but say their room already has ambient noise or they haven't listened to it with tv sound off or in low power mode.
Of course peoples tolerance for such things varies person to person as well. My room is completely quiet when electronics are off (normally).

Not very. Happens when you're in a game. It is very, VERY faint, at least in my case. How loud is the coil wine? What's it caused by?
Unless the console is reading the disc which is not often it is literally dead silent. In my house, I don't have outside noises or anything, you could hear a pin drop, I can pause the game there is literally no noise coming from it at all even if I go put my ear near it. Honest to god.It makes you wonder with the majority of the people that are saying its silent if it really is? Why wouldn't you just hold on and sell it and buy a new one in future. Or even just sell it now for a profit? Fair game as you didn't buy it to intentionally do this.I returned mine yesterday because of coil whine. Now I'm on a search to find another. Such a bummer.
Honestly I thought about it but just didn't want to deal with it. I figured I can get another sometime. Even if it's months down the road. Why wouldn't you just hold on and sell it and buy a new one in future. Or even just sell it now for a profit? So is it a sign of potential failure, or just a slight background noise?Usually by low quality PSU or capacitors when not glued down well enough
No not failure. It's pretty normal from what I read and watched. But if you're not happy with it you can always replace it later when there's stock. So is it a sign of potential failure, or just a slight background noise?
This. I have the digital edition and the second I boot a game I can hear a tiny bit of coil whine and/or something grinding (a fan?).Mine has audible Coil Whine, while a game is running, quiet on the dash board.
Its dead quiet running Demons Souls right now. Even with my ear up against it I can only hear the faintest noiseIt makes you wonder with the majority of the people that are saying its silent if it really is? My TV x900h fan is louder if I put my ear up on that
Im so pleased both chose function over form factor honestlyThat's so good exactly what my series X is like. Mine is only mild youd never hear it over game audio but it's on all the time even in rest mode or where theres a quiet moment in a film etc.
