MediaMarkt NL just updated their PS5 page with a "rumored price" of €399/499



Checking the page last update date goes against the update date they have set up. Last update was:

"Date: Fri, 11 Sep 2020 16:42:08 GMT"

Apparently pre-orders started there in NL. If this get's confirmed, it's pretty much as expected.

Not as powerful =/= worse. IMO it's the better console, so price alignment is completely justified.

I have a friend that may be in the US at the time of release that said he could bring me one...
So it's that or going on a trip to Foz do Iguaçu with a couple of friends early next year when hopefully covid subsides.
Grab a PS5 in Paraguay, check the town and fly back home, a weekend should be more than enough.

For those unaware, people are selling PS4 Pro for around $740 here lately.

I still don't think Sony can shave price of PS5DE to 399. They would loose ~150 200 dollars on one box which is insane.

I think they will believe that their launch exclusives combo and brand will be enough to carry 499/449 prices

It's a 4K Blu Ray player. I'm paying the hundred because to get a good 4K Blu Ray player you're looking at about $150-200 bucks currently.

For 499 you get

• The faster console of the two top priced consoles with 15% less teraflops and double the IO speed

For 399 you get

• The same console without a disc drive

For 299 you get

• A console thats 3x less less powerful than the most powerful with the same slower IO.

For those looking for cost benefit, the Digital PS5 would be the logical choice.

Digital Foundry made a video about that. Explain how Sony can make money for take the loss of hardware sales.

AMD over time reduce the prices of components. I not saying will be close or less longer than PS4, but maybe 2 years or more Sony could get profit selling hardware.
The point is if Sony really want to take that loss like PS4 have. BTW, when PS4 was launch Sony didn't even have those 'online' programs for making profit and reduce the impact of the hardware loss like he have today. Playstation Now for example.

Apple priced the iPhone 6 16GB at 649 and the iPhone 6 64GB at 749. The memory alone is not worth the 100$ (more like 10 or 20), but they priced it that much lower because they wanted to sell the lower memory phone and then sell the consumer iCloud storage.
