PS5 shell discoloration

Mine is still pristine after about 30 hours of runtime. Nonetheless, this is why white plastic is godawful. It's so susceptible discoloration.

I haven't really looked at mine since taking out of the box, it's behind my monitor. There's definitely something there, its faint but it's there. It's weird that it's only on one side, so it could just be defect. The more concerning picture is the one with the brownish stain, that looks like a heat thing. Does anyone have a picture of what the inside of the panel looks like, if it's the same color then that's probably not a good thing. If it's only on the outside, that's definitely from an outside heat source.

Only thing I've learned from this thread is that OP has some bunk ass furniture.

Looks good against the Simon Cowell scale...

He looks like a Bugsnax NPC! Marshmallow teeth ftw.

Yeah, my one x also did it in the middle. It's nothing really, these system are meant to be used. We can't keep stuff pristine A1 forever :/

So after seeing a few people post concerns with "burn" spot on there PS5 shells i started to take a close look at mine. I did notice a small area of discoloration arounf the center of the left panel in almost the same spot as othere have complained about. Now mine was very minor and was in a perfect circle as you can make out in the pictures. It has a pure white color to it in that circle and the rest of the panel is greyish. I poped of the panel to see if it was heat related and what i found was quite interesting. There is a circle shaped grove on the inside of the panel in the exact spot of the outside discoloration. The plastic is way thinner here and it is also the focal point of the entire warped shape to the shell. There were no indication of overheating on the inside and every time i felt the system in that spot during play it was warm at worst. My conclusion is that the contort of the shell with minor heat coupled with the thin plastic in that area is whats causing the color change (like when you bend plastic). Annoying but nothing to be concerned about and a shell swap or paint job will easily fix the issue.

My eyes must be getting too old, because l can't see jack. You worry about an imperceptible, innocuous mark when your furniture is all chipped, old, scratched, misaligned, with doors that don't even close. :messenger_tears_of_joy: You're funny, and made my day. Cheers!

Just looked mine over and I also have a bright white spot. It's pretty minor though and I probably would have never noticed it if I wasn't actively looking for it.

Here's a solution. Don't turn it on, go outside and interact with 3 dimensional people. This topic is fucking comical, seriously, get a grip.

I can't see anything in the first pic, but I definitely see those skid marks in the others. I'd be pissed if I just bought a system and it got skid marks. I mean, it's ugly enough as it is, but it has to discolor too? Keep in mind, this kind of thing happens with light consoles but it usually takes longer than two weeks to happen. My SNES turned an ugly yellow and my Dreamcast has definitely become discolored too. But they're like 20 years old or more.

Don't be an ass. These devices cost a fair amount of money. It's fair to be upset about these design flaws, I would be too. I'm not too OCD, but if my PS5 suddenly developed a dark or white spot I'd be calling Sony right away.

I'm not being an ass, this is a tiny, barely visible mark on something that doesn't cost a "fair amount of money". A fair amount of money is what a car costs, this is a games console, it has a small mark on it, who cares? It sits in a unit under the TV. People must not have much going on in their lives if this is something that gets posted on the Internet for discussion and complaint.

Dont know about any burn spots, but does anyone know what sort of plastic the ps5 is using? Any chance of yellowing?

Dang OP you went through all the trouble of moving your PS5 (which is behind your TV completely out of view), taking the cover off and taking a bunch of pics but you can't even be bothered to screw the hinge that holds door back to your TV stand?

Regarding the singular image of that yellow burn, that looks like a lighter or outside burn. I wonder if whoever's it is might have some form of prism sat nearby as when I was a kid, we had a cut glass ashtray sat on the windowsill and one summer the bastard nearly set the carpet alight.

Got same spot on mine on both plates. I think it's just a mark from the tooling they use to form the plastic. Not a big deal.

That's a point actually, I wonder if it's always been there and folk are actively looking for it now? Maybe it's just thinner there and the black shows through from the inner casing.

This exact thing crossed my mind. I wonder if it was there the whole time. When i looked at if from the inside it shows no signs of wear or damage.
