You didn't saw pictures? Are you blind? Multiple people tried to scale is with many different methods to get it's size. Everyone gets similar results which is around 9x40cm.I'll ask again: What is your source on this? Or are you guessing?
I'll take this as "I guessed"You didn't saw pictures? Are you blind? Multiple people tried to scale is with many different methods to get it's size. Everyone gets similar results which is around 9x40cm.
So they probably wanted to fit into hifi component size. Just looked on some Yamaha reciever and it has 43,5cm width. Its probably not stackable but at least it should fit into hifi rack. You didn't saw pictures? Are you blind? Multiple people tried to scale is with many different methods to get it's size. Even if it's only 20cm, which is much less than any console except PS2 slim, it still would have bigger volume than XSX.I'll take this as "I guessed"
As I've shown, the PS5 is less long than the XSX is thick. We'll wait for top view images to compare depth. But the PS5 has to be massively more 'deep' to make up for the XSX height.
~40cm measured with gamepad.A bluray disc is 12cm wide, the drive slots are what, 13cm? The ps5 looks to be about 4 times that based on the OP pic so, roughly, 52cm/20"/1.7ft high
You don't get the option to go chopping bits off the PS5 to fit it into a space like its Tetris though. The device has a footprint (the stand) and a height (taller than anything else) which automatically gives it a volume that it is going to take up which is by the looks of it the largest in console history. The XSX takes up the space of its dimensions exactly because is a square shaped box with parallel sides. The PS5 with its tapered flowing lines doesn't take up less space than it's widest, tallest and deepest dimensions.I'll take this as "I guessed"

I never said it did but by main point is that the PS5 is only a bit longer than the XSX is thicker. And if you Google pics of TV stands you see that a whole lot of them tend to have long narrow spaces rather than big high spaces. You don't get the option to go chopping bits off the PS5 to fit it into a space like its Tetris though. Whatever you need to say to justify things to yourself. The PS5 is a massive console whichever way you look at it and it will be equally difficult to accommodate in a media unit as the XSX.I never said it did but by main point is that the PS5 is only a bit longer than the XSX is thicker. lol I'm pretty sure nearly all TV stands can hold both without problem. The whole issue is being blown out of proportion by both sides.Whatever you need to say to justify things to yourself. Not if it needs a stand just to lay horizontally. It's like 30-35% thinner at that spot on it's own, it's still significantly lower laying on it's side than the series X.
Doesn't the ps5 have much width than the xsx? It seemed so in the reveal. We'll have to wait for the dimensions to be revealed but I don't think your hipotesis is so clearJust to be clear, (going off that chart) you can just about fit the PS5 within the XSX:

Except Sony have made it long rather than wide.
Probably so that, you know, it can actually fit into one of these things...

EDIT:
Actually I could have even moved another part showing that in terms of sheer bulk, the XSX is WAAAAAYYY bigger:

How is anyone going to fit that in their entertainment unit?
Both are UGLY, but i prefer series X, i can put behing my television, ps5 wont fit in that position i think.
why are the ps3 and xsx not properly proportioned look a the disc slot and the extra space not covered by the red line. distinctly looks like those two have been resized
just those two... okaybecause the slot is bigger than the bit the disc goes in on those.
I rather have someone try something different and fail, than just make a simple box and call it the day.
Way too big, imo.

Well... If the PS5 has heating problems I will agree with you.I'll take functionality over style though. The XSX is designed with cooling and nothing else in mind. I can't quite describe what Sony are going for here, but it's certainly bold.

...absolute monster in size.
It was supossed to be even weaker so they decided to OC it so had to make the console bigger to offset the extra heat.
Wow, it is even bigger than I imagined. PS5 actually DWARFS the Alienware X51 in size, and the X51 is an absolute monster in size.

Here is a video that gives a sense of the size of the X51:

The thermals could be just fine though. I mean it's bigger than the X1 and that console wasn't loud or hot.
Because the actual disk slot on those does not actually go all the way across.why are the ps3 and xsx not properly proportioned look a the disc slot and the extra space not covered by the red line. distinctly looks like those two have been resized
