PS5 + Xbox Gamepass. Does it make sense?

Im considering buying Xbox Gamepass. With cheap 12 months XBL Gold cards + Ultimate Gamepass upgrade i can get 36 months Gamepass for around 120€ (142$). But I plan to buy a PS5 NOT a Xbox Series X as I already have a Gaming PC. I could play multi platform games and Xbox Exclusives on my PC with gamepass and play PS exclusives on PS5. Or should I invest 120€ in PS5 Games or PS Now instead? For how long are games included in Gamepass? I could also buy xbox games on PC and or buy gamepass for 1€ whenever a good MS game comes out. Does this all make sense? What do you think?

PS5 + PC for Microsoft games is the ideal combo that gets you everything.
I don't know about the money as far as I know I only pay 4 or 5 € per month for PC GamePass only.

imo if you really think ps ways of doing things is the right way of doing/funding content you should not touch game pass.

Why not, that way you get to enjoy every pc exclusive, Xbox game + PlayStation exclusive that there is. It's a awesome combo that I am going for myself. Don't be influenced by console wars, if you enjoy a certain game or console go ahead and just buy what you like.

Enjoy your purchase

PS5 for the big games and GP for cheaper filler in-between the bigger titles.

I own GP and PS4. While, GP is neat, there's nothing on there I want to play and hadn't already. But, I'm one who has no interest in the Halo/Gears/Forza games.

There are bigger third-party games there, but thry are usually older titles that I played at launch (and if i didn't it's because I don't want to play them).

Still, for $1 a month, when you can find it, is definitely worthwhile as a compliment to go along with PS5

PS5 + PC is the GOAT combo. I buy the PS5 exclusives I love, play multi platform games on PC and then buy gamepass once every two years or so for 1 month for 1€ if Microsoft releases a good game.

Yeah, if there are games you want to play and you don't care about the complimentary services. But the case is weaker if you're after an XSX rather than playing on PC, only because there are so many more options to take advantage of.

The only question is, do you feel you have no games to play, or do you have a huge backlog you are not touching?

I remember a time in highschool when I game 8 hours a day. But i would be lucky to game 1 hour a day now.

Look, if you litterally eat through games like a termite colony, then maybe there is a justification to buy Gamepass. But i would argue that if you have ANY backlog at all, then you are better off playing those games first than to pay for a subscription. I assume that the backlog you have are games you are actually interested in playing.

I do PS5 + PC. When a games comes out for GamePass that I want to play but not buy I'll do it for 1 mo.

This is what I do and is the best option. I've recently did my fifth $1 for PC Gamepass for a month promotion and set renewal to 'no'. I've played through some good and great games for a few bucks (also quickly dropped some terrible ones). Personally, I don't see a point in locking in for a few years of GPU for just the PC for Gamepass, especially since it is still at Beta pricing and the aforementioned promotions.

Definitely. The GamePass is good even without an XBox. I did PC+PS4 last gen and though I don't really have any interest in the upcoming consoles (I only like handhelds), I'll get a PS5 at some point.

If you don't have a PC? Of course it does.

PS5 will have enough exclusives across it's lifespan to justify it, probably the best ones, and Game Pass doesn't have every game, as fantastic as it is.

The only question is, do you feel you have no games to play, or do you have a huge backlog you are not touching?

This is also a good point. If you already own a fuck ton of games you haven't played then either sell them or play them. Game Pass is going to put a stop to the latter.

So much salt in this thread, it's incredible. Yes, GamePass is great, because it gives you curated list of games. I recently played The Touryst, Observation and it was great and I would most likely never touch those games otherwise.

I think for you it does especially since it's so cheap. I mainly game exclusives and I'm kind of picky so gamepass would just not work for me but yeah go for it! You can play tons of multi console games on it, some Xbox exclusives if you like them and have ps5 for exclusives and other things.

I mean, you're still not getting good games. That's the overall problem with Microsoft right now. They're sitting on gold mines but only look at the get rich quick scheme of things.

I haven't had a desire to get Gamepass in a long time because their first party line up isn't that good and outside of a few Indies, I already have or finished the other games they've offered. The only way to hook me is to put out exclusive content on it that's amazing. That's just not the case for me.

I am constantly subscribed to GamePass PC (because I'm lazy and because it's cheap) but it's so surprising to read that many people only subscribe temporarily when there's something they want to play.
More power to them I guess but this is surely not something MS is happy with.
I think to change that they'd need to do a few things:
-Make Halo Infinite lots of fun. Battlefield is taking a break as it should and COD is focused on Warzone. I want a replacement for those fuckers and Halo could be it
-Forza Horizon 5 needs to have much more longevity. Even if the driving is fun as hell, I'm not gonna play a game for 500 hours when I can traverse the whole map in a minute
-Fable needs to go for the Skyrim audience except its 3rd person
-Have many exclusive indie or AA games because if they're not exclusive I'll play them on my main platform, PS5

I pay for games pass pc, 450 yen?
Tell you the true. There is some good games.
if Sony had no exclusives I would be game pass only.

I do hate playing on pc. Graphics are good, I can do 4K HDR 60 fps in some games but I don't care much about it, I miss the simplicity of the console. Start a game on my pc fee more like a chore

I did that 36 months Gamepass Ultimate thingy one year ago. I have to say I haven't played much... granted I only have an Xbox One S so that might have hampered my enjoyment. But if I had known how little I'd use it, I wouldn't have bought it (the 36 month Gamepass thing).

Then again it was cheap (I'm paying under 4€ per month for Gamepass ultimate) so it's like whatever. But it puts me in an interesting spot regarding next gen. Should I get Series X and enjoy Gamepass for the almost 2 years I'll still have it? I was maybe gonna buy it at launch because of this reason and Halo (which is the only MS exclusive I'm into). Neither PS5 or Series X have launch games that interest me anymore.

Im thinking of buying a PC after PS5. Nothing to expensive.
Mostly to play older games, indies and Total war lol. It will probably have the specs to play 360/PS3 and maybe PS4 gen in 1080 60fps.

Probably gonna be a no for the gamepass though

Edit - also get a Switch

PS5 plus Game pass for only 1 or 2 months per years to play those games you really want that are on X/PC...why lock in for 36months? They want Gamepass to be the 'Netflix' or 'Disney+' of gaming...treat it that way...binge for 1 month on all the shows you've 'missed' for the last 11 months....this works for me as i don't play online multiplayer.

Game Pass on PC is $5/month. I assume they will raise that price to $10/month at somepoint. Both of those are more expensive than the deal you found on ultimate but they won't lock you into 36 months.

First party games stay on Game Pass forever whereas third party games cycle in and out. I can't say how long they stay on the service but it is usually for a pretty long amount of time. Certainly long enough to play through. Shortest I recall was around 3 months but some games have been around for well over a year at this point.

If there are games that you are interested in on game pass or you enjoy Microsoft first party titles then I think it makes a lot of sense. The PS5 will cover you for Sony first and third party exclusives while most everything else can be played on PC.

With so many games being crossplay and Xbox first party being on PC I could probably do the same (Switch+PS4+PC+Game Pass). I play Destiny and Rainbow Six with friends on Xbox. Would rather play both on PC. Unfortunately while Destiny will get crossplay I don't see the same happening on Rainbow Six.

Here in Australia Gamepass Ultimate is $15.95 per month. It's not worth the the ongoing price of admission imo, I have a One X and I've recently stopped paying for it.. Apart from Forza I don't care for other Xbox Exclusives, last two Gears have been underwhelming, never cared for anything else.

It will be PS5 only for me as far as console next gen and if a new Xbox Exclusive IP comes along that I really want to play then I will just sign up to Gamepass on my PC for a month and play it.

There is xCloud so if you don't have a gaming PC, there is still no need to buy a Series X.

Same here in NZ. GamePass doesn't seem worth it (yet). Lets hope the Xbox Studios turn that around in a few years. Also if XCloud is good it might justify that price.

I think the best combo in terms of value is going to be PS5 + XSX. Ps5 For exclusives and XSX for the best Multiplats (sans any Sony moneyhats lol).

If money is not an issue then PS5 + PC is the best combo. No one can argue this.
