I felt sorry for sony early on but the fact that it's taken them this long to fix this mess is just unacceptable.

If you strongly STRONGLY believe that the PSN resurrection will occur on Sunday, May 15, then it just might happen.

Damn, we need a upgrade on Xbox, Major Nelson no longer cuts it.

He has Xbox 360 Software Engineer Laura Massey on most episodes of his podcast now.

I have reliable sources telling me that PSN will return on the 29th of Smarch.

one month until duke nukem forever is supposedly coming out. if the network isn't fully up by then, the jokes will be endless

on a related note: please let some of these psn threads get archived. this one might be the end of the main trilogy (the rest merely spinoffs) and i want the full box set

One of my friends had over $1,000 stolen from his accounts. His bank is blaming Sony.

Until now, I was under the impression that while personal information was compromised, actual credit card information was not because it was encrypted or some shit? Or did I misread the commentary? Possibly his bank is just wrong?
That doesn't make any sense. It says someone took money from his bank account to buy visa cards. That would imply that access to his bank account was compromised, not his credit cards. And it would imply that the thief was buying pre-paid credit cards.

Then he goes on to suggest that someone cloned his credit card. Which is totally different from what he was talking about before.

I do not want to by any means discount this because it is on a Team Xbox site or anything, but how in the hell would a bank even begin to say such a thing?
Did they ask the person who spent it?
It just reeks of idiocy.

I hope that the compensation will come before the store, in an autodownload app that get downloaded when you login first time (after resetting the password) and running that app you can download the free games.

word. sounds like his bank gave him confusing info. I just thought I'd get some clarification from those following the story more closely than I.

If someone cloned his card (as i understand it when he says "swiping it to buy things"), it sounds to me like he used his card in a device that had skimming equipment installed on it.

This is very stupid. Pachter dosen't know anything about internet security issues. I mean a guy who admits sending credit card info in an email is clearly clueless.

"They wouldnt breake into PS3 network to steal your info!" Oh please.. they attack to anywhere they can. Credit card info is retailing at $5 a pop. 12 million cards is huge

i can't believe anyone takes that guy seriously.

I'm calling it now - as soon as PSN comes back, the millions of people syncing trophies and downloading firmware updates will make the service all but unusable for days.

Hahahaha

I find it hilarious that Wario64 just discovered "Pulse" and C. Lee!! you didn't get the show in your region of PSN or something?

Either way this proves Sony's poor marketing techniques, Even when they are trying to create videos exclusively to promote their products they still can't reach their target audience somehow.

Just rented the new Motorstorm, so I hope PSN stays down for a few more days now.

It's been so long - I forgot how to turn the system on.

*Idon'tgiveafuckwhatPSNdoesbitch.gif*

Just let me sync Portal 2 and as soon as that is done, I'll stay offline for a couple of days then trophy whore. DAMN IT. >:|

My cousins lost all my beloved Online games, so I am not fessed. However, I really do feel bad for people who want to play Socom or Brink, Sony what are you waiting for?

That's why it won't come online all at once. Won't be suprised also if they go by region to prevent extra downtime.

No. A lot of people have stopped checking in as furiously as the first few weeks. In other words, they've moved on and stopped caring about PSN for a while. For Sony this is a serious issue since it also means noone will give a toss about the store for a while.

They'll soft relaunch it. I fully expect it to go up and down after it's restarted. They won't make a psblog post about it until after a few days after it's been up.

the ending of part 1 with the cliffhanger was the best, epic meltdowns all around served with gravy and dumplings.

Tried to watch Netflix earlier and it wouldn't allow me to stream anything saying that I had to sign onto PSN whenever I tried to access a movie. It's a change at least. Not for the good though. I needs my PS3 Netflix.

I wonder if this incident will push Sony into making the PS4 online a paid service.

yes because a paid service would make it more secure.....
Sony has to win people's trust on their network before they charge for it.

Well they're gonna need a new revenue stream to recoup their losses

Regarding to xband:

Icon Hacking

During the last few months of service, several users discovered a way to use a Game Genie to hack the icons of XBAND players. This enabled players to use icons that were otherwise restricted, such as unreleased icons or icons reserved for matches between XBAND team members. Icon hacking resulted in complaints from other users. Some who wished to learn how to hack the icons resorted to relentlessly emailing known hackers, even using threats of physical violence and death. Rumors about XBAND icon hackers often claimed they were part of elite hacking organizations or members of Catapult Entertainment. Eventually, the method used by the hackers was leaked and quickly spread throughout the community.

Icon hacking, serious business.

You can't charge for a service if no one thinks it is worth it. MS has managed to fool people to pay for their own shit, but this outage has gone on for so long that people will automatically think PSN is an inferior service. MS also has the benefit of XBL always having been a paid luxury. Sony would be pretty crazy to try and charge for something that has been free since its inception.

My PS3 is literally collecting dust on its shiny phat surface. I want my portal 2 and I want my PSN back :(

Shit that isn't nothing. Where I live I can dust mine and an hour later dust is all over it. The joys of living with fields around you on a hill that has a lot of red clay. lol
