I just got Portal 2 PS3 today and I don't feel like playing it knowing that I might not be able to play co-op ever. Foreveralone.jpg

what happened?
After a period of silence Sony released a shocking statement saying hackers and personal information was leaked and a "couple of days" turned into "next week". Activity exploded, gifs and everything. end of #1

#2 Quite a few ppl were comparing it to the 2007 xbox Live outage until the shit hit the fan, then they moved up to RROD, but even that was surpassed in thread #3.

ZOMG!!!11

If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security. If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN

So that means I can't change my password unless I fix my YLOD'd PS3?

Slowest firmware update ever confirmed.

Also: SONY works on weekends.

We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now.

Bolded the important part.

We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online. The release of this update is a critical step as we work to make PlayStation Network significantly more secure. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

So they're giving everyone the update early, hoping that people will download it now rather than the day service is actually restored. I see Sony is also worried about network strain.

Also, I'm not sure what this implies about how far along they are in restoring PSN. This had to be the easiest firmware update ever to make.

I believe you will be able to do it via the web too. But if you want to do it from the PS3, you'll need this update.
