PSN thread: PSN up in all areas except HK/Korea (Store is not up yet)

Great, changed all my passwords, except for my HK account.

Access to US and Canada accounts came back with access to the Japanese accounts. I'm still utterly baffled why they would have blocked those accounts based on IP address.

I'm damn annoyed to find that I had left all my credit card info on my NA accounts, though, even though Sony has been blocking me from using them for the better part of a year. Deleted it, but I feel like I'm closing the barn door after the horse has run away.

How? If the attacker have your information, they would have already had it BEFORE PSN was taken down. It isn't like they're actively still getting info.

That's what "closing the barn door after the horse has run away" means. The horse is gone, closing the door now is pointless. Sort of like how deleting your info after it's been stolen is pointless.

Anyway, I'm sanguine about the whole thing. If hackers had really stolen all this info and were going to sell it off, wouldn't we have heard about an epidemic of credit card fraud and identity theft? I suppose they could still be sitting on what they have, waiting for the right offer, but it seems less likely as time passes.

Sounds normal to me. He may be a little more deliberate in his pronunciation because its a video but it seems fine.
Yeah, that might be way it threw me a bit at first. That, and...

I dont know about his accent but I am always a little bit weirded out when Kaz speaks Japanese just because I see him do it so rarely.
...I think I keep imagining him speaking English in his American accent whenever he opens his mouth. Feels weird, man.

So I have a bit of a problem...
I registered my Japanese account while living in japan and linked it to my mobile phone's e-mail address, then I moved out of the country and don't have any access to that e-mail address anymore and that seems to be the only way to reset my password...
Anyone know if there's some way around this? Hopefully they've closed up any exploits by now but I would love to not lose my account and the thousands of yen I haven't spent yet.

You don't have a ps3?

I have one, but it didn't let me change my password on the Japanese and swedish accounts I have for some reason, even though both were made on it and had had things downloaded. Just got the ol' "an email has been sent to..." in the respective languages. Wasn't a problem with the swedish one since that was just an old hotmail address but I seem to be kind of screwed when it comes to the JP one.

Here is a support page for people who can't change your password for some reasons.

I still can't access the Indian store and get my free games. When will the Indian store come up?

Its not up anywhere and theres no solid date. So much for the Infamous promo, at this rate I'll be playing the second one before the store is up.

I know I sound bitchy all the time in this thread...

..but I can't believe they just started work on HK/CH/Korea. This is ridiculous. They have learned nothing from their shit-tastic PR, nothing. The fact that we have to find out through other sources that Asia was finally going back up was pathetic, and then we find out that day that they haven't even started HK/CH/Korea yet. At this rate, I'm not going to give a shit anymore by the time the damn thing goes back up. Bridges are on fire right now, not sure if they're going to be completely burnt.

Maybe I'm overreacting a little. It's just that I feel like, as a customer, I'm being treated like a cheap, used condom.

Ah, that explains why I can't access the store. I went to login and get my free game since they said the offer was only available for a month, but couldn't get in. Also couldn't find any recent info about it googling for "PSN store status", just lots of pages saying stuff like "PSN Store - It Has It All". Uh huh. Do they have some service status page anywhere?

Can a mod put in the store status in the title? Someone asks about it on about every page...
No point really, there will be a new thread screaming the news in all caps the nanosecond the Store re-appears for anyone.

I had people over last night. They wanted to play Rock Band. Do you know how painful it is to just use the stock RB3 song list? Living like an animal.

Guys is just me or PSN is down? i can't login on the PS3 or in the Playstation website. (page appears to be down)

I'm in Europe btw

when trying to sign in to my account via the web to view trophies, it was giving the maintenance message, now the site is half appearing and giving timeout.

Is this the stores return :D

well, i hope so :D

Yeah, I just finished a game of Brink and now I can't log-in back. Hopefully it's because they are setting up the store...

LOL.. yeah.. :/

Hopefully this is the store going back up.

Although judging by Sony's track record, it's more likely that someone tripped over a wire in the private data server room, catapulting it out of the window into the back of a truck driven by criminals than them actually doing something before a deadline they've set.

The 80710092 errors were the prelude to the shit storm tsunami.

Hope no shenanigans are currently going on.
Let's hope it's because they are setting up the Store...

Though you'd think they would have announced it. If it just simply died, then I guess I'll just laugh because this situation is completely crazy.

Blegh I was enjoying some Socom 4 and got disconnected earlier, so I cleaned my room figuring it was just some random dc from my new router, but apparently PSN is down again? Oh well off to dabble in LA Noire again.

We've traveled back in time, guys. I can already see this being the next PS.Blog post:

We’re aware certain functions of PlayStation Network are down. We will report back here as soon as we can with more information.

Thank you for your patience.

Jesus Christ. :(

There is a schedueled maintenance happening in about 2 days, so i think that they would have mentioned if any maintenance was happening today. But i hope that it is something like maintenance going on and not another hack :\
