Putting tasteful gaming artwork on your walls

I've wanted to order this poster a few times. I just wish it didn't say Last of Us on it as it ruins it for me.

The guys store has a bunch of nice minimalist game posters but they all feel the need to slap the games name on it too.
That's the kind of poster I like. Shame about the logos though, they really ruin the picture.

Tasteful is based on taste.

Sure you can always wave that subjectivity flag thats so loved on the internet, but there is a difference in OP´s intention between naming a thread "Putting tasteful gaming artwork on your walls" and "Putting gaming artwork on your walls".
Hint: the first title leans towards consensus.

I think my idea of taste is a bit different than some of you here but I really like a few of those ... the Dark Souls map and the Rapture masquerade ball poster would fit right in with the rest of my artwork.

I have these two hanging on the wall 24x36". They look fantastic.

Will try to take a pic but Mrs is sleeping so it will have to be a crap phone pic. :P

Great idea! And while you're at it why not tattoo 'MASSIVE NERD' onto your forehead in big black capital letters?

Good point. Everyone should stay locked within themselves and never express their interests or personalities anywhere. Especially not in their own homes.

I just hung this on my wall:

/edit: Actually I have more:

My gameroom is another thing of course, but I think these fit the living room nicely.

I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but the two things stopping me were cash (it's expensive to get art beautifully framed or mounted or otherwise presentable, nevermind acquiring the art itself) and a home to be proud of. Thankfully, I've got those two things now, so my partner's given me carte blanche to put up a piece or two.

What's important to me is that it's a game or property that I'm emotionally invested in and something that was important to me in my gaming 'career'. The first piece therefore just has to be something Blizzard/Warcraft-related. I need to find the right piece, though.

Does anyone have any Blizzard/Warcraft art favourites that would make for ideal art to have up?

I have this on a large canvas on my wall, this image is reversed though, so Cloud is the opposite side to what is shown. It looks great.
I like to put things up that are no so blatantly video game art, making it something people can wonder or spark a conversation about.

Gorgeous

The nice thing about game artwork is that it can be as overt or subtle as you like. And certain mainstays like Mario are seen more as retro geek hipsterish nowadays. It's all a matter of your comfort zone. Gaming is an important hobby to me. I'm not so insecure in thinking that I can't

I love this one, but I also like it reversed like this because it evokes the positioning in the final battle scene of FF7.

Isn't Sephiroth left-handed?

Consensus among whom and where? Context completely changes the answer, which is, to some disappointment perhaps, "subjective".

The difference between those two thread titles is that the latter wouldn't necessarily be "good", but it's most common for people to find what they do put up on their walls to be aesthetically appealing, so it's a small difference.

What about morally/aesthetically unpleasant gaming artwork

Actually I have two wall scrolls and two posters in my room. Wholesome and a testament to my character. There's no cohesion or unifying theme and I couldn't arrange them in any way besides "one on each wall" but ey sometime that how we do

I still have some bad gaming posters in my room that I'm too lazy to take down. But no one goes in my room aside from me so it doesn't really matter.

I plan to frame a few pieces framed and want more. Also have a piece of The Last of Us artwork on one what was never released as an actual poster (but given to me by a friend who knows the concept artists).

Currently trying to figure out what to do with this...

(Hohokum Kiteland Isles from Blik)

Might even give it away, since I'm not sure how long I'll be living here and don't want to apply it to my wall :)

I actually think these would look great in a nursery.

Here's the only thing I have gaming related:

When I was looking at buying houses last year, I started working on some simple images to hang on the walls. An idea I really liked was the original Pokemon sprites lined up. Made my brother and cousin a shirt for Xmas with the design for Red/Blue.

My plan was to have the art line certain parts of the house in framed pics. Life makes you change things though, so wound up w/ an apartment and bare walls. Made one for each gen, except for X/Y because I couldn't find any sprite rips.

I feel like "gaming" and "tasteful" are kind of mutually exclusive in this context.

It can be done, even though personally I find that this thread doesn't inspire much confidence.
"Tasteful" is just too subjective to be agreed upon here. I imagine Mucha or Monet, while some imagine guts hanging from an open gut and guns.
I had a friend for whom everything non-porn was tasteful.

The Gold/Silver art in the OP is wonderful, but I wish there was no text, and it feels wrong to not include Donphan.

The Japanese woodcut someone posted of Red Gyarados riding a wave with some Magikarp is amazing.

Also I love the poster someone showed of Lordran in Dark Souls, although I'm not sure it's spatially accurate — it appears to depict New Londo Ruins as being deeper than Ash Lake, although that might just be a perspective trick with New Londo Ruins in the foreground.

k so i got home now, this is the only poster i got hanged in my room, would like some more but i don't got one of them fancy printers that can do that stuff. got this from a bi weekly gaming get together in nyc

Some of you seem very embarrassed by the hobby that you have ostensibly come to an online forum to discuss.

For reference I have Marinko's Smash and OOT/Majora's Mask prints framed. Also some Star Wars prints from Bottleneck, and a few canvas pieces by local artists, all very nerdy.

Pop-art and posters are fun for decoration, sure. For how long do these stay interesting though? How often do you find yourself admiring them?

For images like these I find myself needing steady rotation to keep it interesting. They provide a breathing space and some nice colour, but that's about it.
