first track in number 4 samples edward scissorhands. already won me over to listen to it

agree with the top 3. though alchemist steps over cilvia demo

break the bank, gangsta (also Q) and godfather 4 are some of the best tracks of the year. but their respective projects certainly aren't.

yo this black kray dude is horrible, did he lose his tongue? can i get an instrumental album here

Californication is the best Q song of the year.

If there's one guy whose hip hop opinion I don't give a shit about it's Fantano's.
This. If you're gonna listen to his opinion on anything, let it be an alt rock or metal album. Every other genre he reviews is hit or miss. I'm not that savy on rap myself, but even I know some of his reviews are just flat out wrong, even on a subjective level. I mean he made a video dedicated to answering a legitimate question on whether or not he hated rap music. Cmon now.

He's wrong, but he's the only one consistently putting video reviews of new rap albums right now. Dead End Hip-Hop is slow as hell.

Good list Des. Thanks for continually doing these. This quarter was especially strong IMO, even then it looks like I missed a few releases.

IMO You should add the best singles/tracks from the quarter. Though that's more work.

Haven't listened to Hystori or the new Staples yet.

Found it to be a pretty lacklustre start to the year, need to check out some of these tapes though. Only things I've really liked are Cilvia demo and Pinata so far.

Piñata and Hystori would be at the top of both my list as well so I approve. The latter had me legit shook. Didn't expect that from Cyhi.

It has some amazing beats and fantastic features so definitely worth a listen.

I think it's a solid album, a fun listen, just nothing worth celebrating. You can say that about pretty much everything Ross does, but Mastermind is in the higher end of the spectrum. Worth a listen but I doubt anyone will be talking about it at the end of the year.

Yeah, Rick Ross missing. Blk & Wht is a lovely song on that album.

I'm currently listening to The Infamous Mobb Deep. It's a double album, one album is new 2014 stuff, the other album is unreleased 94 & 95 stuff.

Also really enjoyed Week of KRIT. He only released it in 160kbps though, popping and crackling everywhere.
