Major update out, including fixes for stick controls, additions and fixes to modding support, and much more!
Here are the patch notes from Steam:
WORDI absolutely agree but at the time I didn’t want to get this whole thread into a “lol this map in random game is better”. Now that time has passed, Q2dm1 is the best map ever.
Does this patch help the ass kicking that PC players give console players?Quake | Update 1 Release Notes | October 7
Update 1 is now available for Quake on all platforms.bethesda.net
Is there any news of the next gen console versions being released? I really want PS5 120hz.
I bought this on limited run to go with my Doom 64, Doom Collection, Duke Nukem 3d, Ion Maiden and other ones. I thought about Turok, but I'm not feeling it. I love seeing these boomer shooters rereleased. 3d Realms said that Rise of the Triad was coming to consoles a while ago. I wonder where that is. All I need is Blood, Heretic, Hexen, Wolfenstein 3d to come back. That activision port of Wolf3d sucked. It was like 25% slower. Even the music played slower somehow.I pre ordered a copy for the switch on limited run games. To go along with my turok 1 and 2. I really want them to do a limited run of shadowman too.
I got all the switch prints of doom as well. I actually play doom 64 on the 64 though. Got a Ps4 copy of the lrg doom collection to actually play, as doom 3 is 4k60. They never did a duke 3d print.I bought this on limited run to go with my Doom 64, Doom Collection, Duke Nukem 3d, Ion Maiden and other ones. I thought about Turok, but I'm not feeling it. Gearbox released a physical duke 3d for the anniversary edition.I got all the switch prints of doom as well. I actually play doom 64 on the 64 though. Got a Ps4 copy of the lrg doom collection to actually play, as doom 3 is 4k60. They never did a duke 3d print.
Give turok a shot, it's good.
Oh ok cool, I see there’s a disc for ps4 and xbox, couldn’t find a switch physical copy though?Gearbox released a physical duke 3d for the anniversary edition.
Yeah it was like 2016 when the physical versions came. The switch wasn't out then so no physical switch version. I still have my pc versions though.Oh ok cool, I see there’s a disc for ps4 and xbox, couldn’t find a switch physical copy though?
I still think distance fog in the original level changes the dark contrasty look and feel I was accustomed to, but in this level . It looks so so good.Going through all of Quake over the past week and I've now arrived at the latest Machine Games expansion "Dimension of the Machine" and it is fuckin' fantastic. It makes the original episodes look like child's play (which is to be expected of course considering the times have moved on so I can forgive it).
But I'm honestly amazed by the quality of this DLC and the fact that it's a free add-on is the cherry on top. I think I'm almost halfway through and it's just Machine Games constantly flexing with their sublime level design. One map (screenshots below) felt like I was going through Yharnam or some shit and took me about 30 mins to finish! Really inventive and clever level design throughout while also squeezing out every last drop from the Quake engine in terms of visual fidelity.
I think this DLC will end up in my GOTY list. no joke.
I can't wait to try out this episode. Started my playthrough yesterday and i'm just about to finish the base game.Going through all of Quake over the past week and I've now arrived at the latest Machine Games expansion "Dimension of the Machine" and it is fuckin' fantastic. My son uses the controller in split screen, he's got decent (for a beginner). We switched off, and goddamn, I don't see how people play this game without the kb+m.You also have gyro aiming on PS4 but I turned it off. I got used to the controller fast honestly. Playing like I’m 15 again.
quake 1 just got an update on the eshop.
It support mouse and keyboard now. On the freaking switch lol
This is hilarious. Been fragging for a while now.
Every console shooter should support m&kb. Might even encourage us PC snobs to invest in one.
I'd say that's more descriptive of the original levels to be honest as the new episodes always lead you towards a relatively clear goal. Most of the time you see your objective in the distance and the difficulty comes from trying to negotiate the environment while trying to stay alive (on Nightmare anyway). I think the new episodes were really clever in the way they signpost points of interest in a multitude of ways. I really enjoyed it.I love the look of new levels but the layout just reminded me how massive bs puzzle labyrinths these are
Wasn’t crazy about the 2nd Wolfenstein, but it wasn’t bad. First one, though: wow. Love Machine Games. I’ll check this out.Going through all of Quake over the past week and I've now arrived at the latest Machine Games expansion "Dimension of the Machine" and it is fuckin' fantastic. I wish PS5 was getting a physical. 120FPS seems like a fun thing to have and try though without mouse / keyboard support it might not matter.
So… they’re all so different but see my thoughts below.
Because of this I would start with quake 1. This was a time where each id software game was a new engine, wolfenstein, doom, doomII, quake, QII, Q3A and each time a big jump.
to experience what us old bastages experienced I would start with quake 1 as I assume you played doom or doom II even for 30 min at a friends house. If not go grab the demo for doom and start there.
As for story many have said that Lovecraftian term a few times for Quake and I think it rings true.
honestly quake II in retrospect while good is also to me the most… well kinda generic. I say that as a huge 1990s id software fan. There is nothing wrong with QII but more that it’s a sci-fi story told through FPS. Elements that were fresh for me as a teen in the 1990s will feel hella generic if you’ve played a lot of modern sci-fi FPS. That said it’s still good.
Yes, it does. Gamepass PC fucking sucks anyway. It will randomly want to reinstall any games you downloaded, and there ain't no way to make it see you've already downloaded it. I guess that isn't a big deal for people with fiber or even cable connections, but if you aren't so lucky as to have that where you live, it sucks. Too bad, it's got great games.Doesn't Gamepass lock your game folder so that you can't even edit a goddamned ini file? Negating the whole point of PC gaming?
Perhaps my information is outdated and everything is good now.
I'd love to see more classic games get the same treatment that Quake did here.Didn’t see a thread so I’ll post here. Update 2 hit a couple days ago adding a multiplayer horde mode and an AWESOME s short 2 level single player campaign addon called Honey.
played horde mode a bit with bots and had fun, but the true star for me is the Honey add on. The two levels with this are fantastic and well worth a play. The tower level in particular is almost like a 30 minute Metroid game with how it gatekeeps you from areas until you get the right gear. Took me about an hour and a half to complete. Wasn’t ready for that ending either
Yes yes we all want quake 2 as well, and 3, the more easily available quake the betterNo matter how much I loved Quake, it was Quake 2 CTF that sucked me in and devoured countless hours.
It really is a great remaster. It helps that Quake is still so much fun to play, and feels great on a modern PC running at 144Hz.I'd love to see more classic games get the same treatment that Quake did here.
Are we ever getting Shadowman on consoles?
Music to my ears!Yes, it had been pushed back since they had to work on Quake Remastered. Their team is not big enough atm. to work on two projects at the same time. They said some consoles(One/Switch maybe?) struggle with the game, so it needs more work than anticipated before.
It is still coming!
We needLooks and plays great on an Xbox One X.
The difficulty selection scene of the base game feels so magical, especially seeing this on a 75" TV.
Now I am longing for Hexen 2.
And SiN.
No we don'tWe need
Redneck Rampage
Get outta here Civvie and get your ass onto the TNT EVILUTION video. No we don't
Yes you do! Have fun. I finally finished the first expansion (they are not as good as i remembered...) And i get closer to the new content!Holy shungus I just realised I already own this by having the original game:
If I have that, then I have the new remaster, right?
Sticks and stones can break my bones but that won't make RR a good game.Get outta here Civvie and get your ass onto the TNT EVILUTION video.
Good to hear, they should also release Exhumed/Powerslave on consoles! It is still coming!

You download the remaster and everything is in one .exe . Things like Quake 64 is extra "dlc" downloaded from the game self. At least on consoles, but i'm sure its the same on PCSorry last question, I have the expansions too, but are the remastered expansions in the base game now or I also have to install those separately?
The PS4 version is out now, probably the same for the other console versions too.Are we ever getting Shadowman on consoles?
Wait it is??The PS4 version is out now, probably the same for the other console versions too.
I heard from a friend last night it might be coming to Xbox today..The PS4 version is out now, probably the same for the other console versions too.
