Got a box of the Cookies n Cream for the first time in many months and noticed that they changed the recipe to now use Soluble Corn Fiber instead of isomalto-oligosaccharides. Not sure what to think of this...

I really like the cookies in cream but the quality can really vary from box to box. Need to take pics next time I get two boxes in and see an issue. Still edible and better than other bars but not as great as when the bars are perfect.

I haven't taken the time to look into what that means nutrition/health-wise, but my guess is that it's mostly negligible.

As someone said in here, pop that thing in the microwave for like 7 seconds and its wonderful every time. The smores one is sublime when heated a little.

Yup.

That said - if you order directly from their site, the quality is always perfect.

When heating these up, do you guys remove from the wrapper? Do they get all gooey?

I believe the wrapper has foil on it, but it's at the very least a thin plastic, and I wouldn't place anything made out of either of those materials in the microwave...

Always remove the wrapper. Place on a plate and microwave for 5 seconds. That's all it takes. It'll get gooey if you microwave for too long and sometimes even 5 seconds is too long depending on the power of your microwave. Also, if you microwave it while it's on a napkin it'll stick to the napkin like a real asshole.

They changed the recipe for Strawberry Cheesecake and ruined them. I cannot overstate it, they are fucking disgusting now. And I bought two cases of them. Months have passed and I still haven't been able to choke these down.

I really hate when companies suddenly change shit, usually for the worse. These are now the worst Quest bar, by a margin.

Has anyone noticed a difference in the Cookie Dough taste and texture? I thought it was a fluke, but the flavor seemed to have changed along with that slight box/packing redesign.

I definitely felt like the Cookies N Cream tasted different to what I remembered. Of course, it had been months since I previously ate one, but the perceived difference in taste was enough to get me to check the ingredients on the box, which led to me discovering the change to corn fiber.

The taste isn't bad or anything--just different. I probably won't be buying any more after this box.

For anyone looking for a competitor to Quest bars in terms of macros, MuscleTech recently introduced their new Mission1 bars (lol at the name). They're slightly higher in calories than Quest bars, but contain almost no sugar alcohols. So far I've had the cookies and creme and chocolate brownie flavors. I like them both -- I don't necessarily think they're better than Quest bars, but they taste good in their own right so they're worth giving a shot. Curious to see how the cookie dough flavor compares, I'll probably order a box of them today since GNC is doing a 40% off sale.

I think the new formula bars are gross. Went through a few boxes of different varieties, they are not the same. Funny enough though, the Smores and Mint Chunk ones have always used the new formula, and I still like those, so I don't know what exactly is going on.

Would like to order some of the chips, they rock, but the website has been fucked all day. Can't even log in.

Yeah the site is broken right now

The new Cookies and Cream suck. I've thought about making my own or moving to a new protein bar. MuscleTech now makes a quest like bar. Good macros and lots of fiber. Cost about the same. Haven't tasted it but really interested. Quest done fucked up with the change.

If anyone likes the pumpkin flavor you can get 2 boxes for 26 over at Vitamin Shoppe.

The thing is that Quest didn't change to a worse-tasting ingredient for the hell of it, they changed their recipe because it was shown that IMO raised blood glucose levels. People were arguing that it was misleading to list IMO as fiber in the nutritional information if the body reacted to it like it was sugar. Those MuscleTech bars are using IMO.

If you don't care about the sugar-like effects of IMO, you may as well go with some other bar that actually uses sugar, since it will probably taste better and be easier on your digestion.
