Well, I won't argue that they were never that great. R&C1 was reasonably good, but not an all-time-classic. The entries after that were meh.
Will buy and play the shit out of this.
Just like I did with ToL.
And ACiT.
Loved Tools and ACiT, so I am inclined to try this at some point, but maybe it is time to hand R&C off to an internal or 2nd party studio. Worked for Sly.
:lol woops!Tools of LoLstruction
Moving on?
I love Ratchet and Clank.
What I love about the series:
The weapons.
The humor.
The exploration.
The planets.
The upgrade/level up system.
The platforming.
Ratchet.
Clank.
Does this game have all of that stuff? If the answer is yes, then I think I'll be fine. People complain that R&C was too formulaic, so they change it up with Quest for Booty, All 4 One, and Full Frontal Assault, and people complain that they miss the old "traditional" R&C, so they bring back the classic gameplay, and people complain that it's too safe. I can't eyeroll hard enough.
As for the reviews? Meh. I haven't read them. Reviews have been worthless to me for over 15 years now whether they be good or bad. I just buy the shit I want, and make up my own mind about what I like or don't like.
Are we really writing this off purely based on the Edge review? The other two reviews are good, and it seems presumptuous to condemn the game because of the outlier.
I think that's already happened? The main R&C team hasn't worked on the series since ACiT, I believe a new team has been doing All 4 One, FFA, and now Nexus.
I'm here with you. After all, RE6 scored 5's and 6'es and I enjoyed the hell out of that game. Review scores mean diddly squat to me these days.
This series needs to die or it needs a reboot
I think he means moving on to being a multiplatform dev.Moving on from what?
Don't care about reviews. Been far too long since the last classic R+C game. I'm going to buy this and play the shit out of it.
I don't know if it was Sony or Insomniac that ruined this franchise, but the state of the series is depressing as hell.
I also like how Ratchet doesn't need to regain abilities. Hoverboots, swingshot, gravity boots, grind boots, etc - they add new things in each game while keeping the old from the get go.I love Ratchet and Clank.

Just buy those HD ports of 1-3 instead.
I feel like I'm missing something...no one gave it a bad score but edge yet right?
They've made some of the best PlayStation exclusives around. That's the truthfact. A Crack in Time is one of the best games of the generation, easily.Thruthfact: they never were very good.
Not to be left in the Netherverse, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus represents a return to form for Insomniac Games most enduring double-act. While itll do little to catch the attention of series cynics, franchise fans should find themselves drawn to this like a particularly potent gravity beam. The budget price may still be a teensy steep for the rather slender running time, but the focused campaign and enjoyable action mean that this is certainly worth a punt if youve got the bolts to spare.
I would love for them to give Ratchet some personality for once. Hate how he approaches everything from being talked to by girls, to facing down giant aliens, to being told his race will be completely annihilated with either dull surprise or mild annoyance
They didn't give it a bad score.
EDGE scale: 1-10
Most other publifications scales: 6-10

Here's Hardcore Gamer's review (3.5/5).
I really want to get into this series one of these days, but it seems like it's slowly slipping.
Bottom Line: Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus takes everything there is to love about the series and packed it tightly into a brief - but suitably explosive - package.
Recommendation:It's short, but it's cheap, and it delivers exactly what one expects from a Ratchet & Clank game. Fans will have absolutely no problem leaping into the fray and gunning down space criminals, while newcomers may find the low cost of entry tantalizing enough to jump in. Whoever you are, there's very little chance of you feeling like you wasted your cash here.
Look, plumber's crack! This is why Ratchet in the original game was my favorite depiction of him. He was more of an asshole wannabe hero that you didn't necessarily have to like and it made him pretty flawed. Then when Going Commando came along and James Arnold Taylor took over the honors of being Ratchet he felt a lot less excited about things.
I guess that's character development for you but I liked him having a lot more of a snarky edge to him that made him a bit easier to relate to if you were in his situation.

This is true, people had some serios blinders on during the PS1-PS2 days but their problems only got exacerbated with the jump to next gen.
