Ratchet & Clank Into the Nexus - Review Thread

Well, game's metacritic is 69 at the moment I'm writing this post. I would call it polarizing, since it's right now at A4O levels in critical success.

Still, I think that ranking will get higher as more reviews come in :). It will get better reviews than A4O/FFA, but won't reach the same heights as TOD/ACIT.

Only a few reviews were added...

Look at the OP..

i feel that people were very generous with tools of destruction. it was all right, but not great. a crack in time though, now that was an excellent return to form.

it's nice to get another proper ratchet game at least though it seems it's shorter somewhere in between quest for booty and a proper Ratchet like TOD or CIT

i'll buy it after a price cut maybe.

I have little issue with what you stated (I'm a long standing R&D fan). Here it comes... However What is the "form" that CIT returned to?
Is it one R&D game in the past or multiple?

For clarity, I don't think that Insomniac has made a bad game. All of them have been good; some very exceptional for their space and time of release. I will not deny QFB quibbles. The game seemed to lack a little soul.

yeah, I liked ToD fine and all, but something about it felt off to me for some reason. It's good but it's probably the weakest in the series since the original.

lol, is $30 not cheap enough? 6hrs for a single play through, plus a platinum trophy, skill points, and upgrades / unlocks. The game is littered with content and at least a replay or two. I think $30 is a pretty reasonable price for the size of the title (considering Q4B was $15, and maybe 1/3rd as long). Plus this comes with a code for Q4B, give it to someone.

Waiting for a price drop on an already reasonably priced title seems over kill, unless you're hurting for funds.

Edge have no clue.

As always. This game is awesome. I'm on my challenge playthrough and it's fun as ToD or CiT. It's short-ish but then it's only $30 too.

going commando. uya was good, but less focused. tools was fairly bland across the board and experimental in odd ways like the motion controls, which are okay until you are supposed to 'point' to do things. with a sixaxis.

I'd be buying this in a second if PS4 wasn't this week. As it stands now, I'll wait for it to come to PS+ (if it ever does...)

I'm in the same boat. Not sure if I want to buy this or so many other games or just work on my backlog to try to catch up so I can move on to next gen. >_>
Though if it does come out on the Vita...

Added some reviews to the OP. Really looking forward to this game now, probably more than I'm looking forward to my PS4 in two weeks.

Got this game early and i am really enjoying it. for me it is as good as ACIT. I dont even know what edge is smoking. i know reviews are personal opinion but there is not a single glaring flaw in this game beside short length. 5 score is very low even if you use 1-10 scale

There is a difference between saying "The only good in this game is stuff that was already in a previous game" and "This formula is still fresh and fun enough to not need changing."

The difference, to most of you, is reading comprehension. :-)
don't be that guy, its cool to stand up for your work, but responding to every.little.instance..is lame.
So was your review of FOTNS Kens Rage 2, but this isn't about that.

Thruthfact: they never were very good.

Truth bombs being dropped right now.

At least it's 100% true for PS3 gen.

I'd wager on that last line man... you know Sony has a console releasing this week right? ;)

Played it twice, it's a fun game. Nexus is about 6 hours long on the first playthrough. But this is a game that you'd want to replay at least once with the challenge mode (New Game+). To Platinum it would take maybe 13-15 hours. To get all skill points will take even longer.

It's like ACIT cut in half (minus flying), but it's also half the price. Comes with QFB, so if you haven't played that yet it makes the price even better. By the way, Nexus is much better than the previous two games.

I am so psyched for this game. Have always loved R&C and couldn't care less that some "game journalsts" didn't like it.

I always get bored half way through these games. I like the idea of them, but the execution is lacking. Not fun enough frankly. A little generic.

How is this a little generic, when games like Mario gets all the praise for doing nothing new other than having new levels and some new power ups. Boggles my mind.

I think you're out of your mind if you think Mario Sunshine is the same as Galaxy is the same as 3D Land, etc.

What's with all the "Oh Insomniac, what happened to you?!"? The game scored mostly 8s or above, what did you expect? A Crack In Time in comparison was mostly 8.5-9.0.
This is a return-to-classic Ratchet game, which people who know and love the franchise should have already pre-ordered it no matter how it scored.

Never listen to review scores. Even if a game you were eagerly waiting for gets shot down by reviews, go watch videos, video reviews, play the demo, read a more positive review than the others(there's almost always at least one) and try to see for your own eyes if that game is worth your money or not.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't read negative reviews, but it's easy to submit to somebody else's opinion and than making it your own. Before even touching the game.

Waiting for my VGP order to ship already =]!

At this point, in my opinion i think its time to give R&C to a different developer. It worked out well for Sly with Sanzaru, and for God of War with Ready at Dawn. Let a new fresh team take the reigns and give the duo a fresh start. Insomniacs priorities just are not the same anymore, and if they are not going to put much effort into the games then why bother?

If the movie is still happening you want people to care about the franchise.

I guess I am, for sunshine I understand are different than the other 3D mario games. But SM64, Galaxy and 3D land are no different to me. I'm not a big Mario platformer fan so I guess that's just me, I do love the Mario Kart series though. But Once again, I'd like to hear what's so generic about this series.

They already tried that with High Impact Games who did Size Matters for the PSP, and while the game was good, it wasn't on par with any of Insomniac's main R&C games.
Even if another developer wants to take a shot, I don't think Insomniac should just give it up. Into The Nexus is Insomniac's 9th main R&C game and you'd think that after so many R&C games we should see a dip in quality or fatigue, but no, you can still see most reviewers are still really enjoying this franchise and that Insomniac knows how to handle it.

I haven't even played ITN and I'm already eagerly anticipating their inevitable PS4 R&C game.

Don't give a fuck about reviews. I've enjoyed all the main ones on PS3. Don't see why I wouldn't enjoy this one. Looking forward to playing tonight.

Kinda surreal reading the first page in light of all the 7s, 8s and 9s that are in the OP now.

Game's great. Don't let anyone tell you differently.
