It was pretty good as far as games go, but that price point really is kinda ridiculous. I'm not paying that kind of money for a DRM box.

7/10 for games, but it gets knocked down to 5/10 because of the price, and lack of clarity on the whole DRM issue.

Overall, I would probably have given the conference a 7/10. They did deliver in the games department, although that price puts it down to a 5/10.

For me the best thing about the conference is the lack of a certain announcement. There's a good chance Mirror's Edge 2 is multiplatform now.

I fell asleep 2/3 of the way through it. Just a bunch of generic trailers and no addressing of the serious Xbox one issues. $499 is also ludicrous. 1/5.

Also, I laughed out loud at the fake Killer Instinct match.

It was a good conference, but I need something to get me excited for next-gen altogether, let alone Xbone. It really looked just like more of the same. I'm still thinking of going to PC. At that price there's little reason not to.

2/5

8/10
I liked a lot of the games shown, the price is going to really hurt them though.
It was one of the best conferences they've had in a very long time, like X06 which feels like an eternity ago now.

Everyone complaining about too many shooters; that's what most gamers are buying and then playing now. MS also addressed some of the major exceptions with the addition of World of Tanks and the port of Minecraft. If you want more variety, then get people on your friends list to play something besides CoD.

They could announce that they've bought every developer on earth and all new video games are coming exclusively to the Xbone and I wouldn't buy it/10

Rated it a 2/5.

It was a mediocre conference that addressed not a single one of my concerns. The fact that they just went on stage with the usual PR babble and never even mentioned a single one of the PR disasters they've been facing worries me.

They showed a lot of games, unfortunately none of them even remotely interest me, especially not to buy a 499 ( lol ) console. Some of these games were Press A to awesome ( Ryse ), Titanfall was just Call of Duty in a different scenario, some of the weapon sounds was like the M4 reused, you had the +600!!! on screen for whatever you did and the ONLY games that looked remotely interesting weren't even exclusives ( MGS5 hello, holy shit ).

And yet again the shit was staged. During the KI demo they did a 'recording' which was slightly different from what actually happened, some of the damage numbers weren't correct. Oh and then soundless demos and the awkward EA soundless.

Overall a pretty dismal performance.

I didnt care about the XBO but they got me interested enough to be turned off by the price point.

I'm not sure I need one though after hearing TitanFall is coming to PC.

I give it a resounding meh or a 5/10

Mmh, 3/5 ?
It was a very, very solid conference. The moneyhat must have rolled like crazy. Problem is, I'm not sure there was anything that sold me on the system. Good games, surely. System sellers ? Mmh...
There will as planned be a war between my principles as a consummer and my gaming needs. Not sure the gaming part will win. And yeah it's an American show, but the japanese industry is still in clinical death. Sod sad.

I rated it 4/5. I'm excited for Dead Rising 3 and Below was a nice surprise. D4 and Titanfall both look interesting as well. I'm sold on the system.

7.5 b4 mgs and Titanfall looked amazing everything else was pretty meh ki looked fun 429 is really shocking and upsetting. Sony launch £1 cheaper and you got me.Also no crackdown :(

From me in the MS E3 THREAD.

7.5/10.0
Games games games. That was the best part, but that price, and that awkward moment made me feel bad for that DICE guy.

The best things to me were multiplats, aside from a few really cool exclusives. A lot of what I saw looked awfully generic, and uninspired. Anyway it definitely wasn't a bad press conference.

Yea, that's basically it. I can't say I'm sold, at launch at least. I may get it at some point.

4/5

Made me pretty much forget their previous shitty E3s. This is one of their best one in years. Lots of games, a solid amount of exclusives (that 15 exclusive PR actually looks legit now). TwitchTV exclusive is a pretty big deal too and they got a surprising amount of Indie developers on board along with a bunch of AAA games. There was no Kinect non sense either thank god... no real awkwardness aside from the unintended Battlefield 4 delay and the KI "rape" joke.

The major problem with the conference wasn't with the conference itself but its the whole DRM issue. If there was no DRM/online requirement then I would be VERY interested in the Xbox One and would be on my list of purchases in the near future. I mean 60FPS Halo is a megaton by itself, that was surprising for me personally as was Crimson Dragon.

I feel if Sony has to beat this conference they have to show an equal amount of games and exclusives at the minimum plus a better price and de-confirm DRM non sense. It's not as easy as it looks but its doable.

Even though I hate the drm and used game situation, I was impressed by this press conference. Aside from some technical issues and the price point, it was a great conference. I don't know if I'll ever get a Xbone, I want to see what the problems are at launch, and how pervasive the drm and used game problems, and I will still get a PS4 first.

At the least it made me consider buying it one day in the distant future. And thats more I could say before the conference.

7/10

Where was Mirror's Edge? Crackdown? Exciting new ip that we did not already know about? Ok, ok, some nice indie games were shown, but those could have been released this generation also.

The one thing that Microsoft had to do was to showcase unique and creative uses of kinect in hardcore games. Something to dazzle us! Heart rate monitoring, reading facial expressions and doing other weird stuff that would inspire us and make us forget about their otherwise inferior hardware. They came up empty.

I will admit that Dead Rising looked fun as hell. Is that a real exclusive or a xbox one/pc thing?

Ridiculous showings of the worst version of several multiplatform titles, such as metal gear solid, battlefield and probably more titles that I forgot.

Not addressing DRM, used games and hardware inferiority at all.

Seemed like most games were displayed as trailers and not actual gameplay demos. This might have been a blessing in disguise, considering the poor showing of some of the live demos. Quick time bonanza Ryse was a sad sight. I feel sorry for the creator of Crysis who had to go out on a limb for a game that looked so derivative and bland.

I will hold back my lulz regarding the 500 dollar price point until the Sony conference.

2/10

0/10 due to drm and used games bullshit. Any exclusive on that system might as well not exist to me, because I'll never play it.

Missed it completely - trying to catch up now. But excited about the list of games Ive read and few trailers Ive seen. Already pre-orderd on Amazon. So I rate it an "Already Pre-Ordered"/5

Sunset Overdrive, MGS5, TitanFall and Project Spark all interest me. $500 interests me a lot less. I don't see myself picking up a an XBox One until a couple of price drops down the line.

Nothing truly bad but I've never been so uninterested in a new console in my life. Too pricey, too many bland looking shooters. Nothing that made me go WOW THIS IS NEXT GEN. 2/5

3/5

The Good: The Witcher 3, Dark Souls 2, Open World MGS
The Okay: TitanFall, World of Tanks, Below
The Bad: Everything else

I didn’t care about so many of the games they showed, and the stuff I did like are not actually Xbone exclusives anyway. The $500 price point just tipped me over into thinking it was a bit of a disappointment.

If the Xbone weren't horrible, I would give it 7 or 8 easily, since the Xbone is horrible, I feel like I can't give it a mark.

3/5

Good beside the tech problems.

Would be a solid 4 if the hit $399. Price was downer thought they would hit $299 like the leak docs.

Love the games, games and more games!

I dunno. Maybe 5/10.

A lot of it looked good, but maybe its just me, but a lot of those games looked exactly the same. Lots of explosions. Lots of blowing shit up. I didn't really see anything that makes me have to buy this console at four hundred ninety-nine US dollars on day 1.

I think I'm still a hardcore gamer, but this shit is going to be expensive.

$499 console + $60 Live (I'm not a current subscriber, but have been in the past) + 2 games @ 2 x $60 + 7% sales tax = $727.00.

Now I saw nothing at all in that press conference worth laying down that kind of money. But maybe that's just me.

It was a decent conference that had more cons than pros.

Pros:
- Focus was on games. Their E3 conference wasn't about charts or TV features.
- They showed new IP (Project Spark, Below, Sunset Overdrive).
- Great gaming features (gameplay streaming, gameplay recording).
- New exclusives (Titanfall, DR3).

Cons:
- They didn't address the DRM, online-checks, and Kinect privacy concerns.
- Their cloud claims still seem dubious.
- SmartGlass looked like an unnecessary addition.
- Few graphically impressive games. Titanfall and DR3 looked very very early.
- "Just wait" products (untitled Black Tusk game, untitled Halo game).
- They didn't do a good job of justifying the console price tag.

Overall: 3/5. Their focus on games saved the conference, but the overall conference didn't feel like a homerun.

I was impressed with almost every game shown. Microsoft got all regions of game developers covered too - sure it has the western stuff - but i was highly impressed with the Japanese output. Swerey's title and Crimson Dragon are a big deal for me.

Battlefield 4 running at 60 FPS is a huge deal - as is that most games seem to be shooting for this mark as they mentioned in the X1 Halo reveal. 60FPS smooth gameplay is what the next gen needed - not just graphical upgrades.

The fact that Titanfall is an Xbox exclusive could be the biggest news of all. That game looks like the next big thing in multiplayer shooters. They had to go futuristic to offer insane movement options like running on walls and jet packs. This game is going to be HUGE.

Killer Instinct looks surprisingly great as did Quantum Leap. The arcade stuff looked good too.
All that and I almost forgot the show kicked off with Metal Gear V - which looked stunning. Good to see MS finally has a new Metal Gear game on their new hardware. They made up for missing out on MGS4.

Other stuff like instantly being able to join invites that load up right in game are great as is being able to record any game footage and even stream stuff live instantly. Not having to wait for loading a game is a big feature - assuming that little demo could be believed.

Very little kinect games showcased which was a very good thing too.

So to make sure I understand this right, people aren't happy with the conference due to the price and that there were too many shooters? If that's the case then I guess I understand, I actually thought it was a great a conference.

Not a fan of MS consoles, but I thought the conference was pretty solid, bar the occasional hickup.

They showed lots of games as promised, with only a few head scratchers like minecraft. They spent only a short amount of time on Smartglass which was good.

The price though, dayum. That UK price is steep. If Sony undercut them significantly in the UK, MS are going to suffer for that. Just like Sony did. My launch PS4 cost only £30 more than this, with one game, to put it in perspective for those that live in the US. This is the equivalent of a Sony599 in the UK.

But overall, I vote good.

Still not planning to buy one though.

I'll give them credit for focusing on games, but nothing there really blew me away. Ttitanfall was the best. 6/10

"It's all about the games!"

Yeah but you showed other useless stuff like Xbox glass. Many games looked interesting but the exclusives didn't look that promising but the $499 killed the hype of for me. No addressing the DRM, no sales stuff and so on

4.5/10

I've been a harsh critic of Microsoft due to their DRM crap. Conference was far from great but it did accomplish some damage control. I can't complain about wall to wall games (despite not caring for a few).

7/10

3/5

I don't know why MS chose to show FIFA and CoD at the reveal, when it would've made much more impact to have MGSV, DR3, BF4, FIFA and CoD and all the relevant content deals at their conference.

3.5/10
There are games, but most of them looked boring, or more like the whole conference felt boring, and forced. The price is terrible for what this box can do. Not buying.

It was good. Nothing mind-blowing but all things considered, it was a decent conference in terms of games. It wasn't nearly enough to make me forget about the bad, anti-consumer policies previously revealed though. So with that and the price, I don't see a new MS console in my future this generation.

as a conference itself, probably a 7/10

some games looked solid, there was no kinect stuff mentioned or dumb tv/social media stuff

as a way to convince me to buy one instead of the PS4? 1/10

still not gonna happen, not with 24 hour online checkins and used game restrictions

basically at this point unless Sony completely implodes they've secured me this gen

I mean all Microsoft had to do was show off ONE of the following as an exclusive:

-Mirrors Edge 2
-Alan Wake 2
-Left 4 Dead 3

and nope, couldnt even do that

The good
  • Quantum Break seems interesting, and its facial detail and animations look pretty good.
  • Dead Rising 3 looked entertaining, but something I suspect would grow old quickly for me personally, just like GTA and Just Cause. Which is why I never bought the last one.
  • The Witcher 3. Looking forward to play it on PS4.
  • Halo CGI looked great, before I realized it was another Halo.

The meh
  • A copy of PS+ service with even older titles.
  • Ryse - CoD Normandy landing with swords instead of guns + QTEs.
  • Insomniac's game looked like a crossbreed of Ratchet & Clank and Resistance, with Grim-like creatures in abundance.
  • Upload Studio seemed to be pretty much the same as Share.
  • Titanfall - FPS with mechs, doesn't really get me excited.
  • The glimpse of Black Tusk's project was too brief to tell anything.

The bad
  • Problems with loading Battlefield 4.
  • The short awkward silence after the announcement of 499€ price.
  • Those several mentions of system power, with no details of specs still revealed.

It was a good conference but the only time I was wowed was when they announced the price, and that was not a good wow.

Ryse looked interesting, as did Quantic Break game

Too many short trailers that showed barely anything

probably give it a 6/10

6/10. That said, even if I thought this conference was a 10/10, I'm not buying the Xbox One.

- MGS5 looked great. Will likely buy on PS4.
- Ryse looks pretty good visually, but the gameplay looks really generic and dull. This may sound like an odd complaint, but I thought the trailer was a bit too long. Medieval God of War, without the epic awesomeness of the GOW franchise. Oh, and the QTEs...I don't hate QTEs as much as most of you do, but they were way too frequent in this trailer. Ryse will come out at launch and get a Metacritic score between 65-75.
- Forza 5 looked good as I expected, but I was very turned off by the presenter's AI crap and the silly "Drivetar" (or whatever it was called) buzzword.
- Minecraft Xbox One edition...ho hum. I prefer Notch devote more of his energy to something new.
- Project Spark didn't impress me and the showing was blatantly scripted. Looked and played like a cross between From Dust and a 3D Little Big Planet...and less interesting than either game...and with Kinect voice integration thrown in. The presenters were cheesy.
- I need to watch Below and D4 again, wasn't paying attention.
- Killer Instinct looks like crap, but I'm happy it's back. Too bad it's a X1 exclusive...games like this really belong on the PS4 instead as its target market is more likely to stick to Sony products.
- Crimson Dragon looked like shit visually....just looks really, REALLY early.
- The unfortunate audio hiccups during the Battlefield 4 showing, and no audio for Crimson Dragon. On the plus side, we got to hear what the real crowd sounded like at the conference instead of the fake applause.
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt looked AWESOME. I really want to see footage of that game running on a high-end PC.
- Battlefield 4 looked great visually, but like Forza 5 I expected that. That said, BF4 X1 looked about as good as BF3 PC.
- Dead Rising 3 doesn't look bad and might even be fun to play, but I'm disappointed with the serious direction of the game. Dead Rising 1 clicked with me and many others because it had a lighthearted charm.
- Quantum Break looks interesting but I want to see more. Maybe Remedy will bring it to PC someday.
- Titanfall looks fun as hell gameplay wise. Wow. I have a feeling this game is going to be a major success commercially. If it comes to PC I'll pick it up.
- $499 is a more than I expected, but I don't really care because even if the X1 launched at $199 it's not getting a sale from me. If the PS4 comes in at $399...look out MS.

In summary, the only standouts to me were TW3 and Titanfall, and to a lesser extent MGS5. Most other games, while not terrible, just looked generic, bland, safe, checklist-y and gave me a sense of deja vu. Looked like current-gen games with better graphics and framerate.
