6/10 kudos for almost only games. not games that caught my attention (except titanfall, mediocre graphics bu gameplay looked ace to me)

but biggest letdown.. all that stupid cloud crap. mama mia..

2/5 for me. The games that they showed I didn't care much for, the Price reveal was a big "NOPE" moment for me when it came to wherever I'll be buying the console or not.

Am I the only one who finds it weird that people are reducing marks for presentation glitches? Isn't the entire point of this thread to rate the offerings rather than the actual execution of the presentation??

5/10

Some interesting games.
Crimson Dragon! TITANFALL! MGSV!
BF4 looks good on Xbone (still looks better on PC)

Most exclusives are coming to the PC or other consoles (or staying on the 360)
599 console
Presenters were booooored
LOL sound troubles
Cloud is the new content/experience

I am being harsh but that is because of CBOAT and the DRM policies hanging over a dark cloud (lol) over their heads. Nothing in this game made me regret missing the Xbone and the price was the final nail in a coffin that has tons of nails in it already.

I'm going to have to give it a B as well. Obviously they downplayed the info on the used game restrictions because of all the backlash it's been getting, and backed away from highlighting Kinect because of all the criticism in the past they've gotten for that.

They did make due on showcasing new franchises, bravo for that. Killer Instinct 3 was a neat little surprise, though I was kind of hoping for a bit more from Rare. I kind of wish there was a little more variety in software though, but ah well... that's Microsoft for you.

I'm not really surprised at the price... The Wii-U launched at 299 and 349... anyone expecting anything cheaper than that for the next gen consoles are crazy. 499 is still pretty steep though. It's not $599 USD bad, but still not great either.

Their E3 showing still doesn't change my personal view on MS's DRM, but still a decent showing.

people giving that conference a 1 or 2 are crazy

Yep...

Apparently MS are starting up 5 new first party studio's to develop new IP's.. That sounds good to me..

The drm stuff is of course troubling but guess what? At the end of the day people stick around for any amazing game

I liked it a lot better than I thought I would. They had some interesting ideas and a few cool games, though it really wasn't enough to change my mind about the console.

Their policies might be shit but I have to give them props for their show. A 3/5, would have been better if not for certain parts and too many shooters. Also Halo was just a small clip so nothing much there.

Still won't buy, especially with the price tag.

I thought it was their best E3 in years. Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3 and Insomniac's games are great exclusives. They talked about games and delivered on that front. But everything was still covered by the dark shadow of DRM and always-online. So even if the games looked amazing, I just cannot purchase the platform. If their aim was to sell me on the One, they failed. But only managed to make me think "Look at these greats game, I won't be able to play" But I liked the content itself. A good show for what is, IMO a terrible sounding platform.

Meh was my general reaction. But for that I'm glad there was only one exclusive that really interested me, the Sweary game. Means I don't feel this great urge to look past the anti-consumerist stance because of games I can't play anywhere else.

4/5

I had low expectations, and it turned out to be the most watchable conference in years. Plenty of games and no sales figures or entertainment/football/Usher filler.

That being said, I still won't be buying an Xbox one anytime soon and none of the exclusive games blew me away.

3/5

I thought the conference was good but not great. The best games (imo) weren't exclusives but the fact that they did show a lot of games is a good. It would be nice if they expanded upon some of their system "features" but it's understandable that they wouldn't do that during their conference. Gold mimicking PS+ is nice but I still refuse to pay for online gaming. Was expecting the price to be around $500 but it would have been nice for it to come in lower. All in all, I think they played it safe.

I thought it was a great conference: It had some really cool looking exclusives (some of which didn't leak beforehand) and there was little to no casual Kinect crap.

Also, new Swery game as an exclusive. So there's that.

Average for a guy like me. Capy's Below is the only thing that caught my eye, but still not enough to make me buy the system.

7/10

I was pretty impressed with most of the games shown. $500 is quite a bit though. TitanFall is going to be the next Call of Duty game. I pre-ordered one. Time will tell to determine if I cancel it or not. If it was $400 I would be picking one up at launch for sure. The kinect being included seems like it really bumped up the price when it isn't going to be used in that many games

6/10. They certainly had a nice slate of games shown at the conference.

Three big issues though:

1. The most interesting and most complete-looking games (Witcher 3, MGS 5, Titanfall, BF 4) are not exclusive to the Xbox One, no matter how much they tried to make it seem like they were through creative phrasing.

2. Most of the exclusives shown were either really uninspired or way too far off to get a decent grasp of what they were. Ryse looked graphically nice but incredibly boring to play. Killer Instinct looked really dull as well. And while Quantum Break, D4, and Sunset Overdrive looked potentially pretty cool, nothing they showed gave much indication as to what those games would actually be.

The only exclusives that looked great that are coming out soon are Forza 5 and Dead Rising 3. And even though both of those looked really nice, neither offered some defining feature that screamed "next gen."

3. The online features shown didn't justify the cost of an XBL Gold sub or the always-on requirement. The Forza 5 online demonstrated just seems like an expanded version of what Real Racing 3 does on mobile, which hardly seems like it required "the infinite power of the cloud only available on Xbox One." And they didn't show any substantive change to the poor value that Xbox Live currently offers. Their poor imitation of PS+ appears to offer no value so far due to the games on offer not being available on Xbox One, let alone that the games shown are already massively sold-through and cheap. No mention of what remains behind the paywall or not.

Even if I leave aside the poor value proposition offered at $499 and $60 a year for a less-powerful console and ignore the huge issue of no game lending and always-online DRM, the games themselves don't entice me to get the Xbox One anytime soon.

2/5

I'll give them credit for being games, games, games. Halo aside, I saw absolutely nothing I wanted to play that wasn't going to be on PC. Essentially, the conference reinforced that I saved $500.

You've laid this all out extremely well. Nicely done.

it wasn't bad but i expected more from the conference that ushers in their next generation console.

conference was all right. at least it was all about games. nothing wildly surprising. Titanfall looks exciting.

still unsure what to expect at launch.

the PS+ style upgrade for Gold is cool. need more details though, is it free to keep as long as you pay? will there be freebies every month? will there be XBONE freebies?

7/10

It was a good conference but it didn't excite me. The only stuff that interest me was D4, Below, and Quantum Break. 2/5

Yep...

The only way they can shove their bullshit policies through is with great games. I won't be buying one, but they got people to accept paid dlc, paid online, and even a price hike for Live.

Still, a 1 or 2 is way low, as the conference was pretty solid and would have been better without the disappointment of DRM rotting away any excitement I could have. Sony's conference will almost certainly not be as focused on games as this was, and I was surprised that there wasn't the usual giant footprint of kinect during the show like the last couple of years.

Only exclusive shown I give a damn about is D4. It makes me sad I won't play it because I won't buy an xbone with the DRM policies and kinect bullshit.

I'm still not interested in this console and if MS thought this was good enough to win core gamers back after the DRM bullshit they are as crazy and out of touch as we were afraid they were.

2/5. It was a good conference, though and much better than their previous efforts. The games that sparked some interest in me (and there weren't many that did tbh) weren't exclusives, though, which was a disappointment.

What exclusives? Dead Rising? Snore. I was expecting them to screw me and buy out a game I really wanted, they didn't.

What games do you like?

I really find it hard to believe that there was not one game you liked for the X1.

they had

racing
fighting
FPS
3rd person action adventure
Little big planet style game
flying combat game
2d platformer
top down arty platformer

and that was only exclusives

So you only like RPG'S and open world games?

Their poor imitation of PS+ appears to offer no value so far due to the games on offer not being available on Xbox One, let alone that the games shown are already massively sold-through and cheap. No mention of what remains behind the paywall or not.

I mentioned this over at Kotaku, but the fine print on the free 2 games a month was just until the launch of the Xbox One, it does not state it will go beyond that. So I think it was an attempt to devalue Sony's offering, appear like they are giving more value so you pre order the Xbone, then in November it's over and done.

I thought it was a solid conference, some great looking games. The only "wow" factor for me was the Panzer Dragoon game -- not the graphics but an announcement that had some factor of surprise and appeal. Everything else was a little predictable, but solid.

Microsoft have put themselves in a much better position now compared to 2 months ago.

Was anyone else bugged by the ridiculous clapping?

Microsoft is all "We're no longer using microsoft points!" and the audience goes wowowowowowow!

2/5 Most interesting games are multiplatform, and I have this feeling that ms is trying to ignore the giant drm elephant in the room, hoping it would go away (hell naw).

not sure how anyone couldnt be excited for halo 5, forza 5, ryse, dead rising 3, quantum break, titanfall, bf4, spark, KI, mgs5, sunset overdive, etc.

conference was fucking awesome.

It wasn't embarrassingly bad as previous ones. In fact, I thought it was solid/good.

The Good:

- Killer Instict looked great, and it reminds me of the SFIV art-style.
- A couple exclusives that look very promising, like Quantum Break, TitanFall and Crimson Dragon.
- The trailers they showed were good, specially that of MGSV and Halo 5.
- Some interesting little games like Spark and that title from Capybara Games.
- No Kinect/ESPN/Social-Media shit.

The Bad:

- Battlefield 4 part. I felt bad for the poor guy, but the trailer for the game looked pretty good (much, much better than COD Ghosts)
- Some trailers were ridiculously short, like Killer Instinct.
- Ryse looked good visually, but the gameplay seemed dull as fuck.
- $500.
- Lack of talk about the DRM and how this crap actually works.

I'd give it a 6.5/10.

Yeah pretty close to how I felt. 6/10, a decent show with no real bummers aside from the technical hiccups and the price (with awkward moment of silence after its announcement, heh), which was a rather large bummer. A bunch of stuff that wan't to my taste, but wasn't intrinsically bad or awful, just I wasn't receptive to some parts.

I didn't think KI looked any good though, and while it may have been because it was 4am in the morning, but Titanfall nearly sent to me to sleep. I thought it looked droll and rote. Though in saying that, the actual movement of the characters was pretty great and watching the mech strafe while shooting was a highlight, it's just that the colour palette, HUD and overall visuals didn't set it apart. I could show that clip to any of my non-gamer or casual gaming friends and they wouldn't have had a clue if it was BF2 or what, mecha not withstanding, much less that it was a brand new game. Anyway, it was only on stage for bugger all time so we'll see what other tricks are up its sleeves at another time. I'm up for the PC version.

DICE presentation was unfortunate, for sure. BF looked pretty shiny, but not my cup of tea (see comments above): it just looked like another BF. Which is horribly reductive and I apologise as reductive arguments are the bane of GAF at times, but there you go.

Ryse looked nice enough, quite appealing to look at and listen to, but man oh man if it didn't look like a turd to play. Even in the 2 mins we got see I was already bored of the slow-mo QTE kills and they had begun to repeat themselves. Not sure what else that game is going to do to make it something I'd wanna play for any length of time.

Red Dead RedeMGS had me suitably pumped, more than anything because it was picked to be the lead act of the entire show for 2013. I look forward to playing it on PS4.

I've never been one to care for Halo, but it's reveal was pretty well done and was well appreciated by the crowd it seemed.

Dead Rising looked fucking horrible, but I'm not sure how much of that was to do with the pretty ordinary quality of the GT stream. I'm not a fan of the franchise, so my opinion is coloured regardless. But god it looked like trash.

All the other stuff was merely dressing (Capybara, that Spark 'thing', Quantum Break and so on), nice to have but hardly reasons to run out and whack down ($800 AUD probably - way way too much) a preorder for this console as far as I'm concerned.

one/10
or
4.99/100

not buying before/after watching the conference

nice to see KI coming back, but not the way I wanted it.

Great games shown, but most (besides Forza) will not require me to own an XB1 to play them (multiplatform).

This conference by itself is an 8/10. I liked the games they showed, but it still doesn't overshadow the system issues.

I will not be purchasing an Xbox One. I loved my Xbox, my 360, my 360 Elite ... but I will not be purchasing an XB1 with what they have shown me, which is that I, as a consumer "cannot be trusted" with my own purchases.

I'd give it around a 5/10

There was a lot of stuff to be excited about....but hardly any of the exciting bits were truly exclusive.

MGS5 looked stunning, Titanfall looked interesting, Quantum Break looked great but no gameplay footage.

Basically this was Microsoft's show to convince me to buy an Xbox One and they didn't accomplish that. $499 is an expensive pill to swallow. There's really no exclusive games at launch that I'm even excited about.

Graphically, it was a bit of a disappointment. Lots of titles that simply did not impress and looked like high resolution last-gen games. MGS5 was the only thing that impressed me.

The rumors of Microsoft being behind schedule on game development seem to be true.

The actual conference pacing seemed pretty good. Limited hardware/OS talk and a lot of games.

For what they did show, I didn't find too much that was appealing to me. Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive and Project Spark caught my eye but for the latter mostly for the art style. I'm not particularly fond of creation/sharing sandbox games. Ryse, Kinect Sports and Dead Rising all had significant issues in their own ways.

The price is awful even without considering the DRM nonsense and the 360 remains (for now) the same price is disappointing. Gold+ should be a permanent addition. And what was with all those technical blunders? Don't think I've seen that much crap go wrong before.

6/10 with my tastes accounted for.

I thought it was great that they just showed games this time, but to be honest I was not really blow away by any of those games. It almost feels like been there, done that. Especially since I have a beefy PC. Most of the games felt like generic shooters. I wish they had shown more of Killer Instinct though. I loved the original.

At this point I think the Sony conference is going to be the same and I actually more interested in what Nintendo crazy things will be showing in the next Nintendo direct.

5/10

Really good conference altogether, lots of good variety, I'm interested in a few of those titles.

Or, I would be if they weren't on XBO. But since they are, nothing in the conference means anything to me, unless the platform changes plans. I gave the conference a 3/5 because it was large on good games, short on fixing the problems that actually matter on the XBO.
