Rate the Microsoft E3 Conference

Rate it, suckers

They spent almost no time on Kinect and 360 and they showed lots and lots of games. The price is terrible but as far as E3 conferences go, it was one of the better ones I've seen in the last few years. 7/10. It would be 8 but that price.

2/5

The only bits that excited me were:

MGSV - I can get this on PS4
TitanFall - I have a gaming PC
Forza 5 - I think the Drivatar stuff sounds like a really cool concept. Only thing that I wish was coming to PS4 but I know that's a pipedream.

The Halo teaser thing didn't do anything for me and I love Halo.

Overall I rated it a 3/5. I thought it was a good conference. Microsoft said it'd be all about games, and they were honest about that. They delivered on that front.

Sadly, it looks like I won't be playing any of those games, or at least not for a long while. Because however many games they did show that I liked, I cannot in good conscience buy an Xbox One with those policies in place and with that price.

Change your policies, Microsoft, and I'll happily buy your console. Please change your focus from corporations to the consumer.

Wow you guys are harsh. I was really happy with most of it actually. The price probably knocks it down for me a bit but I'd still say it's a 4/5. I'm kinda pissed they aren't including a mic though.

3/5

Could have been stronger but I was surprised by their platforming focus and focus on game diversity.

Very awkward moments though like during that KI match and BF4.

- DRM/online/Clustermess policies here to stay

Two amazing games shown:
- MGSV, but will get it on PS4
- TitanFall, but will get it on PC
Other than that, nothing interested me.

- Price $499

With all the above considered: 2/5

Really good conference altogether, lots of good variety, I'm interested in a few of those titles.

Or, I would be if they weren't on XBO. But since they are, nothing in the conference means anything to me, unless the platform changes plans. I gave the conference a 3/5 because it was large on good games, short on fixing the problems that actually matter on the XBO.

3/5 is about mine but the same sentiments you share, I also echo.

No offense to anyone...

But when you say you are going to kill Sony the proceed with that showing. Of course people are going to feel let down. That showing wasn't going for the kill....

4/5 I think they had a great conference. There was one thing missing though and it's a clarification of the DRM and used games although they have addressed it in the press last week. It would have been nice if they could have spent 2min explaining it during the conference today.

I'm looking forward to :

-Dark Souls 2
-Forza 5
-Titanfall
-PvZ Garden Warfare (looks really fun)
-Witcher 3
-Dragon Age 3
-The Division

(Ryse looked totally crappy)

- DRM / Online still here. Still trying to hide it.
- Multiplats masqueraded as exclusive.
- Most of those games will look and play better PC, probably PS4.
- BF4 problems.
- The whole Rape joke thing.
- $499.

1/5.

The things I liked about the conference had very little to do with Microsoft (MGSV, mostly). Also liked the look of that cartoon-y looking game, but I can live without it.

Twitch stuff was a waste of time and incredibly awkward.

Price is way too high for what they're offering.

No Kinect demos, but mandatory Kinect in the box. I guess now they don't have to sell you an extra one, they don't care as much.

The indie section was bullshit from start to finish.

Several presenters (especially the Forza & Battlefield 4 guys) were spouting off A-Grade level bullshit about the Cloud and other buzzwords.

As a 'last surprise' Titan Fall fell way short. It looked like a slightly spruced up 360 game (which is what it is, I guess).

Ryse looked pretty but seems to play like absolute dogshit. Crytec is now a gimmick studio for the on-going use of 'y' in their game titles.

Killer Instinct looked rough and played on wording to the max in their pre-conference talk (Yes, technically, they brought back a classic Rare franchise, just with a different studio with a terrible reputation). Meanwhile, Kinect Sports was announced before the conference and looked increasingly to be a clone of Wii Sports (dat Island setting).

I can't decide whether Quantum Break is a bad TV show or a bad game?

While I think Project Spark may end up being a little bit like Fable (over-promising and under-delivering), it didn't even look that exciting.

Halo reveal was cool, I'll admit, but didn't make sense (why was he wearing a cloak over armor other than to hide what game it was until the last second)?

I think there were maybe 4 games which didn't include guns. I don't mind guns/shooters, but there's a certain point where I feel there's too much.

Overall, the whole thing just seemed very pedestrian for what was essentially the console's big games reveal.

1.5/5

3/5. Content-wise pretty good, but presentation wise... those mistakes, man.

As far as the games go, like I said, they were pretty good. But the games I was most interested in are multiplatform, and the ones that are actually exclusive I don't really care too much for (except for Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive, but that's about it). With the price, DRM, and paying for Live, I just can't justify it for two games. Especially since it's two games that we haven't actually seen gameplay for.

So yeah.

3/5. TitanFall, Below seem interesting. And I like Insomniac's games (outside of Resistance 2) so I am interested in learning more about Sunset Overdrive. But $499 is too much and it sucks that out of all of Rare's properties they chose to bring back the worst one.

It was their best conference in years, but nothing really wowed me nor convinced me to get an Xbox One ever, let alone at launch.

Interesting that they saved Titanfall for last. Obviously, they're banking on people being hyped for that game based on the IW/COD connection, but I just feel like the average person will not give a shit and keep playing COD.

I could not stand being in the GT chat while watching this on the GT stream. Everyone just saying weird crap and putting down every single game that is shown. I agree that some games weren't all that great but geez people don't give them a chance. Not to mention the people screaming PS4 every second.

I really need to stay out of the chats in these game conferences.

Some cool looking games no doubt, but nothing that excited me or would ever make me spend 500 bucks on a console.

It was 2/5 for me :(

I really wanted to love it, I am currently a 360 only gamer.
The price is WAY too high for the UK.

The only exclusives that I was really impressed by was Titanfall and Killer Instinct. There were many other highlights and I'm glad they focussed on games, but none that can reverse that price point for me.

Was also surprised to hear nothing about Epic games. Gears was one of my favourite franchises this gen, hope they are now gonna have their games on PS4.

Personally I thought it was their best conference in years.

Pretty much no Kinect, barely a mention of TV and shit load of games shown. Great conference. Up until the price announce. Damn.

4/5

They showed some great titles and announced twitch support which is kind of a big deal for me.

Tempted to go to a 3/5 because of the technical issues but I won't. The other big issue is of course the policies surrounding the system although this was about the games and I feel I should focus on that.

And honestly the price(as someone in the US) seems perfectly fair given the kinect is part of the package. I expect the PS3 to be in the same ballpark.

4/5

Ignoring the DRM shit (that I vehemently protest), and judging the conference based on its own merits, I have to say it was pretty good. Tons of games; many exclusives. Very small focus on Smartglass, but no Kinect BS, no casual BS.

There weren't any screaming must-buys, so it's not a 5/5, but it was pretty darn good.

4/5

All games - no crap clogging up the presentation.

Fantastic MGS5 trailer to kick us off.

Plenty of exclusives and some great third party games shown off eg: The Witcher 3, BF4 etc.

Price wasnt fantastic but expected - I'm rating the presentation not the system.

Titan Fall has me genuinely hyped, looks fantastic imo.

I agree with this comment and score.

people giving that conference a 1 or 2 are crazy
Silly to argue opinions but the DRM load of shit + price are deal breakers for some, you know .. calling them crazy is equivalent as calling the 4/5er's crazy.

Okay, so MS showed 20 games as promised, but anyone know what are their launch titles. The vast majority of their announcements were games coming next year.

I liked it. Pre ordered one tonight from MS. I'm willing to spend the extra $100 for the controller and more appealing games. I also don't mess with used games and my internet always works so I'm alright with all that jazz..

I liked a few games like Titan Fall, but that's the only excitement i felt.

I hope MS continues on and learns from their mistakes, because we desperately need competition in order for the industry to not fuck us all over.
Having fewer choices is bad for the consumer.

That said, i really really hate all the policies that have been implemented by MS that have been accepted by consumers, publishers, and hardware makers.
2/5.

Launch window games aren't mutually exclusive with day 1 releases. For example Monster Hunter was a launch title for wii u but came out 5 months after release.

It was a strong conference, plenty of games I want, would have been a knockout if not for being in the shadow of the DRM stuff. The price also deflated it, what are you thinking, MS?

If we're rating the conference solely on games revealed.....8/10
I actually wanted Sony's reveal to be more compelling to me but it wasn't.

DRM
$499

Awesome. I rated it 1/5 and found out I wasnt in the minority, the 5/5 group are. <3 GAF!
A lot of us seem to hover around the middle. I think my opinions exemplify what many of us felt: there were good games there, and we would've liked to play them, but the DRM is unfortunate and the price too much. Throw in Kinect and the PRISM fiasco as the cherry on top, and in the end I'm just disappointed some of these neat looking games are stuck on X1. Doubly so in the case of something like DR3 that sounds as if they were solicited for it.
