Rayman Legends: Leaked Wii-U Trailer

If there is a WiiU game that looks anywhere near GOW4, Gears 3, Uncharted 3, or Halo 4, I think you'll see plenty of people acknowledging that. The problem is all the people who won't acknowledge the opposite.
Sister please, both sides are to blame for whatever the outcome is, one group is not better than the other. They are all fanboys fighting the good fight.

Looks great, but the dual sicks on the controller need to be lower. In the same position as those on the vita would be perfect.

You're probably imagining the top shoulder buttons as being default..

The shelf behind the controller is the default position for your fingers, resting on L2 and R2, that lower hand position helps support the weight distribution of the pad and makes it comfortable according to last years impressions... Reaching the buttons and sticks is easy because of it. You lift your fingers and press to the top / sides for L1 / R1

This conversation shouldn't even be happening. It's 2012. The XBOX360 was released in 2005. It damn well BETTER be at least moderately more powerful.

I know this is Nintendo we're talking about but anything less would be unreasonable.

I'm sure it will be, but gamers love creating narratives. If Nintendo had made the Samaritan demo instead of Epic, most people here would have called it unimpressive.

I'm still expecting PS360 ---> Wii U to be like PS2 ---> XBox.

I would not mind more leaks. I really wanted to watch gameplay video of any game, and now that I have I can't have enough!!

I've watched the trailer like 3 times already.

This is why the industry hates leaks.

Especially with such stellar insight as this

It's understood that development consoles currently feature wired controllers but let's face it, if Nintendo wanted to remove the wire from this official promo video, it wouldn't give the special effects team too much of a headache. Or, if as it looks, the wire is able to be unplugged, why not remove it?

For me personally it's because I enjoy these types of games much more on handhelds. I'm not sure why but that's just what I've discovered since I bought Rayman Origins for PS3 and Vita.

That's perfectly understandable. Some games are just like for people, N+ I've found more enjoyable as a handheld game than a console game myself.

I believe the thing was a confusion over what you meant. As in he thought you were referring to being more interested for it on PS3 or Xbox 360for reasons unknown. I'm guessing that is the impression he had at least, that's what I did before you mentioned Vita.

Well they now possess the 2D engine of ages... OF LEGENDS! That looked unreal.

Wiiu gimmicks looked just what they were. Gimmicks. But in this kind of a game you really can't bring too much to the table with touch or dual screens.

oh...ok. Just another one of those superfluous gimmicks that Nintendo loves to add then. Thanks

Man, I really can't wait for this game now. I hope Wii U is backward compatible... so that I can play Xenoblade on it too at launch. Rayman Legends + Xenoblade would make a good time if I have to suffer launch window blues.

Edit 2: Still only one tablet + other controllers. Did Nintendo fix the only one tablet works per system thing or not?

actually they could do some neat stuff with it - especially if they have secure NFC, they could support billing via 'touch to pay' etc.

and NFC tags are pretty cheap these days - you could print them in special edition boxes and then you just swipe the game box to your tablet to get your preorder bonus or whatever.

I didn't think Nintendo had announced anything about NFC, so combined with the 'one more thing', perhaps Ubisoft have just blown one of Nintendos secret reveals for E3.

Sorry for the confusion but the question I was responding to wasn't actually directed at me. :p

I see, I didn't even know there was a handheld version of this game.
There isn't that I'm aware of, I was just saying that for me personally I would prefer that option if it were available and consequently I would be less excited about the Wii U version. Who knows, I might end up getting this game for Wii U if it doesn't turn up on Vita!

You know how you can sometimes buy DLC to make your character overpowered? Well for Nintendo games you can now go to Toy R Us to do it

So, this game will be multiplatform, right?
It's guaranteed to be multiplatform--this trailer itself practically confirmed it (it said Wii U exclusive features, not that the game itself was Wii U excluisve, and if they need to point out that one version of the game has exclusive features, that must mean there are other versions).

I'm going to have to call you out on that. If Samaritan had been shown running on WiiU as a demonstration of what the hardware could do I don't think most sane people here would label it as anything other than impressive. I think that would actually renew peoples faith in the hardware.

So, does this mean no Rayman 2 at launch? :(
Could Rayman 3D actually be the final release for Rayman 2? I find that hard to believe but that might actually wind up being the case.

It's an Ubisoft game for Nintendo hardware that doesn't end with a "Z" or start with "imagine." Progress.
Red Steel anyone?

Oh cool, that sounds great. Can't wait to see some actual hands on footage of the controller from this E3.

Oh man, nothing is as exciting as new hardware and new games on that hardware. :D Good stuff.

Someone at Ubi is going to get into trouble. >_>

Red Steel anyone?
Just goes to show how much mindshare Ubi lost with their shovelware titles on Wii/DS. Basically erased all their actual efforts (and there have been a few of those).

People said 360/PS3 titles at last E3 looked worse than 360/PS3 titles when shown under the Nintendo name.

Never underestimate agendas...

Sure, but I don't think that applies to the majority of people here. Those are people you can safely ignore.

Most people realized that footage from the WiiU demo reel was captured from 360/PS3 games.

do the current skylanders figures already use NFC to communicate with their base, or something else? It'd be kind of smart if they were compatible with Wii-U

Ugh, another generation of being stuck with the Wii remote on its side setup :/

My big assed arthritic hands can't hold that thing very well.

Hmm.. Just thought of something interesting someone with good skills edit the gif and put the hype train instead of the dragon lol :P

Awful. They've updated the article with the factually correct information but claim it's on the "list of possible explainations", and haven't even changed the headline to reflect the update.

Doesn't change the fact that the article is bogus in the first place. CVG should have known better than to post that. Makes it seem like they have some sort of agenda.

The controller is a year old. People have used it at several events already. No one cares about their impressions though.

I'm mainly after footage of the controller being used. I didn't really follow it much during the last E3 (even though I put together a massive OP on another forum, I didn't have the time to read the various impressions) but I'll check out them out when I'm free over the weekend.

Game looks good, I figured the art would be fine once we got non blurry images. I would like to have seen more of the main game as opposed to the various multiplayer modes, hopefully it doesn't take an Earthworm Jim 2 approach and cut out platforming in favour of more gimmicky stages.
On the subject of gimmicks I'll admit cracking a smile at the influx of rabbids, disappointed to not see Rayman style Ezio, what a dastardly tease that was.

Well what about using the tablet as the controller? That's easy to grip.

That looked visually amazing. Although I own Rayman Legends for Wii and Vita, I still haven't played it. How does this game stack up graphically to that one? Also the Skylanders thingy seems pretty neat, specially because you don't need those portals.

Looks good, but it doesn't seem to hold any major revelations, especially so considering it's a 2D game and they are very cheap and easy to render so it speaks little of the graphical prowess of the system...

Trailer was neat. From what we've seen of the quality of Rayman games, especially recently (Vita), not surprised by the nice visuals. Also looks like Ninty is using a modified AR technique with the controller.

Nice trailer, nothing overly incredible though.

Game looks good but I guess the "put something on the tablet and have it appear in the game" will have some big restrictions.

Game looks good :O

Also, the NFC chip is on the screen? Couldn't they just hover the controller over the toy and NFC would have still worked?

So...skylanders-esque pokemon game reveal at E3? Was it known that the tablet had scanning tech before this?

Game looked nice, use of touch screen to move a ledge up didn't do anything for me.

Oh shit!

Those graphics and the game look great and remind me that I need to finish Origins. And this Skylander tech will destroy us all.

Yes potentially. I think you'll see a lot of things being placed on the screen though, its like a metaphor for reaching into and placing something into the game world..
