RE5 planned to debut simultaneously (X360, PS3)

Why do people keep saying that GTA is PS3 exclusive??? Did I miss a recent press release or something or are people still hanging their hat on that false report done during their E3 presentation?
As far as I've been aware Sony get exclusive rights to the game for a limited time, just like what happened with the GTA titles this gen. The limited exclusive rights are still very important. There are many people out there who want to play GTA as soon as it comes out instead of having to wait for it to be released on Xbox360 and this will certainly help sell PS3.

Great! Show me the press release...

Exactly. Just compare San Andreas 5-6 millions on the PS2 vs what 100-150k on the Xbox? A hardcorer will surely wait but the ordinary Joe customer wont.

If I recall, it only applied to the last-gen GTAs and Rockstar didn't sign anything this gen regarding exclusivity... timed or not.

I wasn't exactly following it closely since then though, so if you have proof to the contraray? *shrugs*

As I said that is what I was aware of. If I am wrong then why not just correct me rather than being sarcastic.

LOL...I'm not being sarcastic...I've seen this claim pop up quite a few time in the last week and wondered if I had missed something. No offense intended.

ok then. no offense intended to you too :D. Ive not actually seen any press release, but I didnt actually hear that it wont be exclusive either. Ive never been a big fan of GTA so I didnt bother following any of the news. rayne said that the exclusive deal no longer exists.

Does anyone actually have a link to a press release or an article about GTA and wether or not it is a PS3 exclusive?

I'm not sure that's the case in raw numbers, but it likely will be the case in terms of software thanks to diminishing returns. I really don't expect to see PS3 do anything 360 can't on some reasonable level (unlike PS2 versus GC/Xbox).

Diminishing returns is only relegated to 480P. Not 720P or 1080P. We are probably another one to two generations away after this coming one before we really hit some true diminishing returns. Look at games like MGS4, Gears of War, heck, even RE5, and you can tell diminishing returns is pretty much a made up statement for this coming generation.

I remember a point where I told myself a lot of the Revolution games weren't announced because of NDA on all developing titles.

...

:-/ After that shitstorm from Matt, I don't think that's the case.

Whoa whoa whoa...

Saying that it only applied to last gen is totally different than saying it no longer applies. :) As I said, it's been a while since I followed up on it.

I think the differences may appear greater than they, thanks to sony-centric devs (Kojima, Sony Santa Monica, Polyphony, etc) that are used to pushing hardware to its limit, moreso than "lazy" western devs like Bioware, Bungie, etc.

I know you're just trying to start shit and I'm not going to do the whole East vs. West crap. I do think that your statement is extremely rude though. Take a tour of Bioware, Bungie, Ubisoft, or even Rare and then try to come back here and tell me they are lazy.

I agree with you, except for the part about Rare.

And on what do you base this ridiculous statement?

Halo AIAS GOTY Winner 2001 and highest rated game of 2001?
How about Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, highest rated RPG of this generation, AIAS Winner for best RPG of 2003 and Overall Game of the Year Nominee

Yeah, those lazy bastards.

Admittedly, everything here in anecdotal, but I see some of the technical issues that, say, Halo2 had, and then I see something like MGS3, and I have to wonder what Bungie spent all of their time doing.

Also, I have an enormouse amount of respect for Ubisoft. The work they've done on the PoP games (well, not so much WW) and King Kong and BG&E have really raised the bar for western devs.

Making a fun game that anyone can play? That's pretty much what Western developers do.

Yes, but it's not like MGS3 was - shock - without its visual flaws.

Lets forget about MGS3 for a minute because it is better than so many western and eastern games. Give me another game that makes it look as though Bungie wasted their time whilst making Halo 2? Actually you can include MGS3 because it does not even give the impression that Bungie wasted their time because they did an amazing job and made a very entertaining game, just like many other western devs have made some of the greatest games this gen.

Please dont say that western devs are lazier than eastern devs. Its just makes you look very stupid.

Look, I'm not turning this into a "western vs. eastern" thing. I'm turning it into a "motivated" (Sony Santa Monica, Kojima, Nintendo EAD, Retro, Team Ninja) vs "lazy" (Koei, From, Bunjie, Bioware, Rare).

Bungie and Bioware are very motivated when they develop their games. In your perspective, I really think it is a western vs eastern way of looking at things, and yah your statement was pretty retarded.

You have to admit that there are more bugs in, say, KOTOR or KOTOR2 than, say, SMT3 (a game of similar size). I was comparing Halo 2 and MGS3 because they're roughly similar in scope.

There are some rumors, about new RE5 infos coming from Famitsu.
Can anyone confirm?

Source: IGN Boards, Gamefaqs boards, Capcom European forum

There will be 4 classic characters from the series, traveling in groups of 2 using RE0 zapping system.

-There will be new enemies: No ganados or zombies ("A new threat never seen before in a re game")

-The Item boxes will make a comeback, along with the classic door opening cinemas just for some doors (perhaps the ones dividing each area).

-There will be a new "Heat" meter near your character's life bar, that if not lowered with water, will make the character suffer hallucinations ala eternal darkness.

-The plot will be completely related to RE Code veronica, with new twists and terrors..

So in other words it'll suck.

I think you're confusing Laziness with the Directives Of Publishers To Put Games Out Before They're Necessarily Ready. I seriously doubt you'd leave the cafeteria of any of those developers offices after calling their ragged, child's-first-steps-missing, weekend-working, bleary eyed asses "lazy" with anything less than a punch in the nose.

I think RE5 will eventually make it's way to the Revolution. Normally I'd say not a chance, but this is Capcom we're talking about. They port everything to everything. Ten years from now they'll probably be porting the game to cell phones.

Dear Capcom:

Please use none of these shitty, stupid ideas in RE5.

Did anyone even miss this stuff not being in 4? I sure didn't.

Which Capcom team is developing this again? And also Mikami not involved in this right?

Inafune also revealed that Microsoft initially asked Capcom to make an original Xbox 360 title catered toward the taste of the Japanese consumers, but the third-party publisher declined. Inafune stated that Capcom's aim is to release games that will be a global hit, regardless of whether it's for the Xbox 360 or PS3.

Owned. :lol

He's not directing the game. The more I hear about it, the more it seems like they are falling back to the old ways of RE, IE before RE4. As long as they keep the third person behind-the-back camera of RE4, they can't ruin it that much.

In the end it's still my most anticipated 360/PS3 game.

I agree with everything except the part about Rare.

Nintendo dont deserve Resident Evil series.

yeah because the RE games sold so bad on GC *rolleyes*

I think RE0 did over a million worldwide even though it's GARGABE.

Capcom can't really be that stupid, can they? There's no reason to get the series to a high with RE4, and then devolve the next game.

I'm not a fan of this zapping system stuff, nor really of going around in groups. Protecting Ashley was fine, but I don't like having another offensive character with me for some reason. HOWEVER... if this played out as an option of an online component, that could be very cool. Plus, if "four classic characters" somehow gets me Jill, I ain't going to bitch. If it's connected somehow to Code Veronica, though, then at least two would obviously be Chris and Claire.

Finally, I do kind of wish we'd get back to zombies, now that huge zombie hordes could actually be done properly.

This seems too retarded a move for Capcom to make. It's a rumor, afterall, so it isn't something I'm going to get worked up about.

We'll find out more at E3, if we're lucky.

I wouldn't mind at all if they brought back aspects of the older RE's like opening door animations and such, and combined it with the combat system of 4.

I also want some damn slow, scary zombies and dark long hallways.

And Jill. More Jill.

I wasn't too found of buying, so maybe they can get rid of the money.
For some reason, that made it less scary for more. Felt kind of silly.. it took away the feelings of isolation RE always had.

Hey! It could be worse!!!!

SEE!?.

That bolded one reminded me about a lot of the early Super Mario Sunshine speculations. Does this mean that you'll have to jump into fountains to recharge your character?

If its going to be for loading a new big area then it wouldn't be that bad. The load time to load that section is going to be longer than normal anyway, so might as well give it the classic opening the door animation for certain areas.

I hope capcom doesn't pull a resident evil 2/4 and restart the game after finishing a hefty chunk of work. I don't like waiting.
