Currently $0. I'm currently at my limit with sony. This has been a very lackluster gen.

The ONLY reason why I have even the slightest interest in xbox next gen is because it'll be a pc hybrid.

For me, it depends what it does/how impressive it seems. I spend quite a lot on gaming , so my "max" would be a lot higher than what the average person would pay. If it did absolutely everything I'd want, I'd probably stretch to about $800, but like I say it'd have to be perfect for me.

That said, I don't think I've ever bought a console at launch, so I'd likely wait at least 6 months, although I feel like I might be tempted to jump in day one this time for some reason.

The PlayStation 6 could be the best bang-for-the-buck proposition , but we'll have to wait and see.

Realistically, I'd possibly be in for $800. I'd be surprised if that's what it sold for though. It has to be lower, surely?

My max would be $1k, I would hate it but at the current rate of how stuff is going consoles only get more expensive as they age which is very annoying. I also do not have a ps5 pro, and my pc is still rocking a 1080ti so it will be a nice upgrade.

Voted 1k$+ coz since we found out official pricing of ps5pr0 i predicted ps6 gonna be 999$, if u count in disc drive which will likely be sold separately(maybe a bundle?) and prices of electronics in my country(usually 20-30% above US prices) then it cant be helped, ps6 will cost me well over 1k usd, maybe even close to 1,5k usd.

Since i love countless playstation franchises from back in mid 90s and didnt buy ps5 the chance of buying ps6 at launch is even higher- i will have access to all ps5 exclusives i missed out this gen and likely under backwards compatible ps6-turbo mode- so value goes up for me even vs ur standard ps5/pr0 owner here.

I paid €1100 for my Direct Drive wheel and accessories.
I paid €600 for the racing rig.
I paid €1500 for my gaming TV.
I paid €1000 for my surround sound receiver and speakers.

If the PS6 costs €1000+ so be it. Would it be nicer if it cost €399? Sure. But the notion that a console has to be the cheapest thing in a gaming setup is just crazy to me.

The thing that worries me the most about the next generation is if Sony doesn't have any competition. We all know how awful the arrogant Sony is.

Gonna sit tight until PS6 Pro hits. Sony has adopted the Apple tick-tock stagger strategy, and crossgen is here to stay. Likely won't be any PS6 exclusive releases for years, meaning my PS5 Pro will do just fine for quite awhile.

Right now I see ZERO reasons to buy a PS6

(1) first party production has gone glacial to nearly non existent - live service is garbage and does not count

(2) the employees producing said glacial production want me and those of my political leanings ilk dead and Somy is cool with that attitude not being publicly and explicitly rebuked

(3) cross gen going to last 5 years minimum

We shall see but right now looks like I'll be passing on the first PS console having bought or received every other one beginning with PS1 at/within months of launch

They are gonna price this thing at $999.99 and I hope it fails miserably

Sony could do their fans a solid and find a way to CrossFire two PS5 Pro's into a PS6. Release a special plastic shell that lets you mount them together. I think the concept would look like taped mags in COD, but obviously they'd have to make it cleaner look like some really nice Transformers base of operations. Seeing those PS5 Pro's start collecting dust that soon feels kinda silly since it will still be so capable if they drop a PS6 in 27. This solves that and brings everyone's beloved ATi CrossFire technology to the console world. I need to go back and look at the gap between PS4 Pro and PS5.

Plus I would imagine that cross gen is going to last a long time and I have a PS5 slim. The return on the tech is slowing down, I don't see the point in upgrading to the next big thing right away.

I don't have a particular limit - but it depends on value proposition.
Right now there hasn't been one yet, and the best anyone has talked about (including all the leakers) is 'hw upgrade' - aka PS5 1.5.

And I'm not sure I'm even looking to buy one of those at any price - yet.

OK. PS4 Pro to PS5 gap was way bigger than I remembered.

PS4 Pro had Jaguar cores and a 5400RPM HDD.

For PS6 to have even close to the same performance increase as 4 Pro -> PS5, you will need.

- an x3D class CPU. You've already got 8 Zen2 cores.
- a 9070 class GPU. You've already got a 6700xt.
- 24GB of GDDR7 at the ABSOLUTE minimum. That would still feel stingy for an 8 year console in 2027.
- 1TB of high speed storage. You can't launch with less than the base PS5

People think Sony can get that out for $5-600? I think a thousand would be tough.

Honestly, I love games so much that the price doesn't matter. If I'm able to afford it I will pay it. Simple as that. Now, if I don't have faith in the platform, of which Sony is testing majorly any more with its lack of 1st party support and cloud saves being locked behind a stupid paywall, I may not buy PS6 on day one, but I will eventually get it because I know there will be, at some point, games I can only play on it so I will not do myself the disservice of missing out on.

Whatever it costs. It's a one off purchase (maybe 2 if it breaks) every 4 years. If you're on gaf, you prob use it daily…for many (unless you're American) you probably use it more than your car…and use it a similar amount as a sofa. My sofa was £5k and I'll keep it for a decade…which is far more than the yearly cost of a ps6. It's really not all that expensive.
