Spirited Away
Toy Story
Empire Strikes Back
the Avengers
Elf

Dogma
True Romance
Independence Day
Hot Fuzz
Sin City

I feel like any recommendation I might get from these is probably a movie I've already seen, though...

I'm gonna say Scott Pilgrim from these but I'm not too well-versed in film.

I have to include 6

2.The Thing

I would recommend The Fly (1986) by David Cronenberg. Very good sci-fi film with a touch of body horror.

The Abyss, for your love of Alien and 80s James Cameron.

Mine:

1. All The President's Men
2. Princess Mononoke/Spirited Away (I could never pick)
3. Zero Dark Thirty
4. No Country For Old Men
5. All About Eve

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Minority Report
I Am Legend (alternate ending (goes without saying, really))
The Matrix
The Truman Show

I recommend: Ruby Sparks

I have seen that, loved it. Especially how fucked up it gets at the end. Based on your list, have you seen Jacob's Ladder?

Since it'd be too difficult to list my all time favorite films, I will simply list my favorite five films of this year:

1) Dear White People
2) Nightcrawler
3) Birdman
4) Boyhood
5) Guardians of the Galaxy

(Not in any particular order).

God this was hard, and probably isn't even right, but:

Fight Club
Lost In Translation
Spirited Away
Blade Runner
Pulp Fiction

My favorite

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
Garden State
Terminator 2
Perks of Being a Wallflower
Gangs of New York
I'd go with Scott Pilgrim since it's kinda a coming of age story with lots of action

I'm tied between two. Into the Wild or Castaway on the Moon (you may have seen both already !). I feel like a person surrounded by society and yet alone, or trying to be alone, might be of your liking.

Ratatouille
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Koyaanisqatsi
Ghost in the Shell
Sans Soleil

I feel Korean revenge movies might be right up your alley (the vengeance trilogy, I saw the Devil etc.). You might have seen those though.

You're probably spot on. I saw The Man From Nowhere a few months back and thought it was really good despite the inconvenience of having to read subtitles. I'll definitely check those out. Thanks!

Have you seen The Rover (2014)?

I have not. I'll be sure to check that one out as well :D

Django Unchained, i would say.

I dont know if i can say my list is my absolute favourite top 5, but its the first five movies i think about right now if i were to list my favourites.

Princess Mononoke
Ichi The Killer
The Darjeeling Limited
The Boat That Rocked
This is England

Watch Dead Man's Shoes. Fantastic film.

Lost in Translation
Repulsion
Eraserhead
Persona
Vampyr

If you haven't seen Linklater's Before trilogy, drop everything and do it right now.

Try the early Del Toro films, namely Devil's Backbone and Cronos.

Ha, I never really put that together, but those are the kinda movies I like. I'll give these a watch, thanks!

HK-47

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Shawshank Redemption
Inception
Trading Places
Cocaine Cowboys
Blow

If you are a fan of Inception, loved the dream logic sequences and dont mind animation, I'd recommend Paprika. It goes even crazier with that stuff.

Only Yesterday
A Separation
Blue is the Warmest Colour
Tokyo Story
Blue Valentine

Already seen all Ghibli films (other than Kaguya, which I inted to as soon as possible).
