Red Dead Redemption heading to Xbox One Backward Compatibility this Friday

While I'm happy for all Xbox owning Red Dead fans, as a PS4 owner can't help but wonder what happened to that rumored remaster (you know, the one that was rumored along with a sequel and a possible screenshot).

Doesn't the fact that the 360 version is BC enabled now not greatly diminish the chance for such a (I assume) multiplatform remaster to happen, a remaster all Red Dead fans would get to enjoy and that would enhance the game (even more)?

It's possible R* gave the go-ahead/announced Xbox One backwards compatibility early for a very certain reason.

Usually when a game is ready it is announced the the DAY it is ready. This was announced early.....we might just get an remaster or prequel announcement tomorrow. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Go ahead and get sales and hype going with the original Red Dead, then make your announcement(s) shortly after.

;)

I certainly wouldn't mind this scenario to be true. Fingers crossed for me!

If you bought the digital version then you can download it now. Just find someone who is following the game and then head to the profile page for the game. Select see in store and DL it. I am following it on my gt: tubonjics1

I can't wait to dive back into it tomorrow. It's been a while, so I don't remember if they ever fixed it, but is the multiplayer still hacked and broken?

So do we have any idea what time this will unlock will it unlock it midnight tonight eastern or sometime tomorrow?

To me tomorrow night is gonna be like porn. I can't play RDR (PS4 guy here) but I'm gonna watch the streams on Twitch. Such great game.

Yeah I am well aware, planning on letting him free roam a bit and hunt...not an unsupervised campaign play through.

I let my 8 year old daughter play it that way. Same with GTA V.

In GTA V she plays with Non-stop pop as her only audio. No sound fx or dialog on. She also strictly is only allowed in clothing stores ;).

Funny thing is, she obeys traffic laws and will only steal parked cars. That's by her own choice. I told her once to steal a car at a light and she said it wasn't nice. X-D Most of her time is just spent exploring and "going to the beach".

My friend said he got the undead nightmare for free. but he bought it through his 360, but i would ike to know these details too!

I can't check, because I'm 90% sure I already owned Undead Nightmare. I know with several other games though, the expanded DLC is included when playing on the XB1.

The fact that this game runs on an X1 at 30 fps is mindblowing to me. Microsoft must have some of the best engineers on the planet to be able to pull of this emulator on such a modestly specced machine.

Aren't open world games typically CPU heavy too? Makes it more impressive if so.

In retrospect, I can't believe they got away with that crazy Achievement, lol.

The one where you have to hog-tie a woman and place her by the train tracks and watch as a train goes thru her.

Some RDR videos to get you hyped:

Red Dead Redemption Official Gameplay Series

- RDR short film by John Hillcoat (director of the The Proposition)

- RDR "World in Motion" timelapse
These were so so so so dope. Really brings back memories. Watched these dozens of times while waiting for the game to come out lol.

Here's also the best trailer imo for good measure: My Name is John Marston

The music man...I'm getting chills right now hearing it.
